Update: I'm still an avid fan. I've been going to Biotherapy for maybe 25 years, off and on. I'm old. I stumble and I fall and injury myself, but my recent concern is my growing peripheral neuropathy in my right foot. No pain. Just numb. It causes me to fall. This place claims to be a holistic, detoxing environment for the betterment and health of people, but my experience was the exact opposite--hostile, toxic, and downright abusive. After being forced to cancel for the second time due to genuine emergencies (the most recent being my car breaking down and getting towed), I called to inform them, apologizing for the inconvenience. Instead of understanding or even basic professionalism, the gentleman who answered the phone screamed at me. He shouted that I would be charged full price, told me I would no longer be welcome as a client, and then hung up on me mid-sentence. Let me be clear: this behavior is horrifying anywhere, but especially at a business that promotes itself as a sanctuary of healing, wellness, and compassion. The hypocrisy is staggering--how can a so-called therapeutic spa devoted to detox and health treat people with such aggression, cruelty, and utter lack of humanity? What I experienced was not wellness. It was verbal abuse. What I felt was not care. It was hostility. And what I learned is that this business is the furthest thing from holistic healing. I LOVE this place!! I was pleased from the moment I walked in the door!! Finding an affordable and quality holistic clinic in the Bay Area is not easy, and this place takes the cake! Irina and Dr Felix greeted me right away and I felt comfortable and at home. I had come in for a colonic, however Dr Felix told me about all the other wonderful services they provide, like acupuncture and their own line of supplements. Very impressive!! Based on many reviews I decided to try this place. For one, I liked that they have a parking lot, I know finding parking in SF on a weekday, during business hours can be a big pain. My appointment was 12:30pm, when I arrived the parking lot was full at that time, I ended up having to park on the street. Once inside, I thought this place is tiny and shabby. I didn't want to judge, But they need to renovate the place, everything looks cramped together. The receptionist was warm and friendly. They ask you to be there 15 mins early to sign forms. I thought to myself this is too much to read in 15 minutes. After 5 mins, a woman came out and asked "Who do I have next?" (Mind you I'm the only one in the waiting area) I looked up said "Hi, i'm ......." she said " Hello, follow me".....(she never introduced herself) We enter this SUPER SMALL room, there was a table for the client to lay down. she said there's a bathroom, you go pee first, then undress from waist down, an cover with the gown) I repeated her instructions back to her to clarify, so I go pee, undress and lay down with the gown on, she said "yes" and walked away... (the way she responded YES, it was abrupt, I didn't like it, It wasn't inviting, it would have been nice if she asked me, "is this your first time" or "do you have any questions" etc.... Once I was gowned up, she came back in with a big jug of chamomile teA and other herbs for the colonic. She didn't explain anything. She said "So tell me about your problems" (still didn't introduce herself) I told her I don't have problems, I have regular bowel movements, never constipated, just want to reset, as I've recently changed my diet. She said, "Oh good for you, that's really good." she started the procedure, I was bloated, she started to massaged my stomach, slightly rough, and it was uncomfortable, yet it helped with the bloating. I didn't see any waste coming out, she kept saying "oh you have so much gas inside" she continued to massage and she would aggressively tap something, not sure what it was. Every time she tapped, I felt an uncomfortable sensation in my abdominal area. I closed my eyes and relaxed, i did not feel any pain, just cramps. She made conversation with me, I really didn't want to talk, I just wanted to relax as this was my first time, She asked me if I ate meat? I said no, recently eating plant based, 11 days in to be exact, she said "oh okay because meat causes bloating, I told her no dairy, no meat, She mentioned it seemed like I was constipated, strange cus I don't recall the last time I was constipated. she recommended I drink tea, and take probiotics to reduce bloating. I was like okay thanks. I literally seen NOTHING come out. I recently came off of a 10 day plant based detox, but literally nothing came out. I will say I did feel lighter at the end of the session, I didn't feel bloated anymore, She said next time it would be better. I was really looking forward to seeing "the waste" come out. I didn't like that she kept moving her hair bangs away from her face as if she was getting hot, and she would use the back of her hands to move them. (Of course she's wearing gloves) but I just thought maybe she should have a different hairstyle if you're doing this type of work. At the end she told me to go use the bathroom and let her know how it goes. I used the toilet and nothing crazy happened. The bathroom was TINY, They do have this amazing toilet in their TINY bathroom, the toilet seat is heated, you can actually freshen up, it rinses you front and back, and even dries you. Literally the best part of my experience. I just hated how small the bathroom was, I'm not a super big person, however I felt claustrophobic in the room and bathroom. Once back in the room, I changed, An went to throw away my gown, the tall trash can in the room was completely FULL. (Gross) I thought wow that's unsanitary. (That can't possibly be all from today) I had to shove my soiled gown in there) that grossed me out. I waited 2 mins for her to come back in the room, she didn't return, so I walked out to the front. That was awkward. Like what if I had any questions to ask. I walked up the counter and proceeded to pay. as I was paying she came out and offered me tea, then walked away. I didn't see her again. For me it was unprofessional. I had to ask the receptionist what the woman's name was. Her name was Ella, very kind, yet not so professional. The cost was $68, normally $85, I got 20% off new client. I'm concerned about the cleanliness of the whole place. I felt kinda grossed out after the overall experience. Let me finish saying, I DID FEEL LIGHTER and LESS BLOATED, which I was happy about, for me I wouldn't try this place again.The one star is for uncleanliness, unprofessionalism and the inconveniences navigating through the clinic. I would definitely try this again but I'd choose somewhere else. read more

I like the supplements this doctor is prescribing but the office is disorganized. I called the office in advance to make sure someone is there at the Redwood City location because last time when I went it was closed even the hour shows it's open on Yelp. The receptionist responded yes it would be open. I immediately started heading over. I drove 40 mins to the location only to find out it was closed. When I called the same number, no one answered. It's frustrating when a business doesn't stick to their schedule. The online order charges a fee and some supplements like probiotic is best in the fridge. I think they could do better!! read more

I've been going to Biotherapy Clinic for years and am a huge fan, I tell all my friends to visit them, especially if having any health problems. Colonics, acupuncture, and ionic foot baths (the ionized water that pulls heavy metals etc. out) are healthcare treatments I believe virtually everyone should be getting with some level of regularity. 10/10 would recommend going here first following many diagnoses, before considering prescription drugs, for a whole-body, holistic approach. It was well worth the trip from Central Valley. The staff is nice, professional and very caring. I am definitely a fan. I brought a friend of mine, and we made a day of it. We took the ferry and an Uber. The colonic is great. Of course, they have proprietary herbal blends that are suggested and to some, can be pricey, but as long as you purchase good quality herbs that are grown in their native environments, the results will be the same. I strongly recommend the colonics-as they are key to supplementing a detox. Next time I am there, I will also do a foot bath. The building is a bit dated and needs some upgrades, but the atmosphere and the environment is awesome, relaxing, welcoming and inviting. Definitely a must do! read more

The "doctor" who runs the place basically tries to squeeze every dollar from you by asking you to join a restorative "program" that's honestly just probiotics and simple diet instructions for like $500. They are also super rude to those who don't opt into the program. Additionally I had an appointment I had to reschedule last minute due to a work meeting and they charged me $25 for citing that it wasn't within 24 hours. My partner worked with Peter and had a great and healing experience, so I thought I would come by for a visit as well since I was having pretty severe digestive and brain fog issues. I ended up doing initial consultations with both Peter and Felix. Between the two of them, they thought I definitely had candida and maybe a thyroid issue as well, and sold me $220 worth of supplements. They did not take any lab tests - this was all done visually in under 15 minutes or so by looking at my tongue, checking my pulse, checking my stomach, etc. I proceeded to take the supplements and ended up having a negative side effect from taking one of them that I was not warned about. I was not satisfied with my experience and intuitively felt that I wasn't getting accurate treatment, so I ended up seeing a naturopathic doctor afterwards, who conducted extensive urine hormone tests, blood panels, and multiple digestive lab tests. She was able to show me from scientific results that I did not in fact have candida or a thyroid issue - I actually had a parasite, an iron deficiency, a gluten allergy, and some hormonal stuff going on. Since taking the supplements she has prescribed to me for those specific issues, I have finally started feeling better. Peter and Felix seem to be kind and well-meaning people, but my experience receiving treatment from them was inaccurate and frustrating. read more

#34 What an amazing experience. I decided to give myself a pre-birthday gift and visit the Biotherapy clinic for a colonic. What a great idea! I called ahead for an appointment yesterday and they were able to squeeze me in today. The ladies are so pleasant and professional at the clinic. I have been here before, but I brought a friend and it was their first time. The clinicians were so helpful with all the questions and concerns my friend had, and all around patient and kind. The process takes under an hour and is not uncomfortable in the least. We were taken to a little room in the back of the clinic that was painted light blue and was cozy. The room had a bed/table, a pillow, blankets, pictures of the digestive track, and a machine on the wall that cleans you out--completely. I was greeted by my therapist, Ella, and she helped me relax, get into my gown and get comfortable. The equipment used in the colonic might seem a little intimidating upon first glance, but not to worry, the therapist is gentle and very aware of her clients, so the process is not frightening at all. Once the equipment is in place, you lie on the bed and relax as you are filled with a water solution to begin the cleansing process. It is pretty amazing to see how full of old food, waste, etc. you really are. The therapist can discern your dietary habits by the waste that is released into the machine. What is more interesting is that you can watch the waste being released into the machine through a window that reminds me of an aquarium tube or something--although it is not exactly "fish" you seem swimming down stream. After most of the toxins and waste were released, Ella applied a caffeine-tea solution to the machine and that is when I really saw some progress. I guess the caffeine helps break down the waste and toxins, it was pretty amazing. Finally, we were finished. I felt about 5 pounds lighter and super energetic. I was escorted to the water closet to "finish what we started" and then I returned and got dressed. The doctor met with me for a free consultation after the procedure and we talked about diet and so forth, and he recommended some vitamins and a colonic plan. He was never pushy or trying to sell me too hard, just genuinely concerned about my health and educated me on the benefits of the cleanse. I grabbed a couple of things, thought about my next few weeks schedule and when was I going to return, gathered my companion and enjoyed the rest of my day.
