But after having a real conversation with the staff about the benefits and why people do this, everything changed. This has become one of the best things I've ever done for myself. I feel great after every session. The staff is truly incredible. Every time I come in, they make me feel safe and comfortable--like I'm their own family. They're patient, they're welcoming, and they always take their time with me. If you're a male 35 or under and you're checking Yelp because you're curious or unsure, I'm telling you: come in, talk to the staff, and try it out. First timer and now lifer! I was greeted and taken care of by Julianne, who was an absolute gem! She spent some time before and after the service to really go into the details ensuring that I fully understand and comfortable. Talk about comfort! The fuzzy socks that were provided were the cherry on top! The room you spend time in is super clean and cozy. Julianne walked me through the process and how to go about the water settings considering that I'll be back on the regular. She popped in periodically to make sure I was doing okay and assisted me when needed. The process itself is very interesting. Of course everyone will have a different experience in terms of comfort level, bowel movements, etc but overall, I really felt the progress from beginning to end. If you've read into colonics reviews before, you'll read up on folks feeling a little bit of a crampy and uncomfortable moment here and there. It popped up more towards the tail end of my session, but it goes away. All expected considering how and what is moving through you. Easy peasy pre and post set up/clean up and you're done! Been coming to SFC for a few years now. I'm very lucky that this was the first place that I chose to go because it was sooo easy, safe, comfortable, clean, modern. They're my go-to in the Bay Area for colon hydrotherapy. I didn't have any GI issues by the time I went here, mostly wanted to do it for general health upkeep as I know how important colon/elimination health is for overall health. But one very pleasant surprise/outcome from my first few weeks of going regularly was literally "learning to let go". SFC is not only the best place in the Bay to get colonics, but is also the nicest colonic place I've EVER been to.. and I've been to LOTS!! For starters, this is an open colonic vs closed (google if you don't know the difference), but I much prefer this style and it offers privacy and control over your experience. The establishment itself is extremely clean, stylishly decorated, and overall feels more like a spa experience (they offer you water, tea, electrolytes & probiotics!). SFC has really been a lifesaver. I visited because I just felt sluggish, and my skin was inflamed from Rosacea. After a few treatments my skin cleared up and I feel better. I had a wonderful experience at SF Colonics recently. I did a series of 3 colonic treatments in 1 week's time to address some health issues, and I feel completely refreshed, revitalized and reset now, so I'm definitely going to be visiting regularly. This was not my first rodeo, but was my first time using the Libbe system. What I love most about it is the sense of control and empowerment, versus other colonics, where the therapist stays in the room. With the Libbe, you're given explicit instructions on how to do everything during your first visit, and then by the 2nd visit I felt like a pro and able to do everything on my own. It was meditative, healing, nurturing and very cleansing. There are so many thoughtful touches here; someone has really thought out the little details that make the visit more humanized and compassionate. Fluffy socks, clean t-shirts, essential oil diffuser, gently scented wipes and the electrolyte and probiotic at the end, combine to help make the visit more personable and comfortable. Joni and Julie are both awesome! They answered all my questions so patiently and never made me feel rushed or hurried throughout the intake or explanation process. If you need them to come in during your rinse, you have a buzzer you can press but otherwise they are super discreet and only pop in for a second here or there. The absolute best part of this experience was that I feel so much more connected to my body, in much better health now than a month ago, and like the efficiency of this process made it 100% worth the time, money and energy. I will totally be going back here seasonally for cleansing, detoxing and to manage my GI symptoms. If you're on the fence, I highly recommend a 3-part package because it did get easier/better results with each visit. I spaced mine 3 days apart. I love writing reviews for places that I have as wonderful of an experience as I did. After weeks of extensive research on where to have my first colonic I decided on San Francisco's colonics. I was very nervous seeing how this was my first and naturally I had 100 questions. I called to speak to the owner of the business and she off the bat answered all my questions and assured me that even for my first time, I was going to be in great hands. They place itself is very homey, peaceful and warm. It didn't feel like a doctors office or a place you'd get a medical procedure. Everything from the cozy towels, salt lamp, essential oils diffused, cozy t-shirt and mood lighting made the experience what is was. Tohm from the get go was so warm, inviting and helpful. She explained everything to me in great detail, and even assured me that I even though I was nervous, no question or concern was going to be left unaddressed. She took extra time with me and even knocked and checked on me a few times just to assure my first experience was a good one. She was polite, professional and inviting. The experience itself was intense. I have had a sluggish gut and digestive system for years now and this was just the jump start I needed. It didn't hurt at all but was more uncomfortable at times given the amount of toxins and waste that was backed up. I eat healthy and workout 5 days a week but sometimes you need a little help. I left there feeling hydrated, light and detoxed. Not only has my digestion been on point 6 days after the procedure, but my skin has never been better. I feel refreshed and light. I am more than pleased I have found SFColonics! I am a former client of Biotherapy Clinic and left it for several reasons. A good friend (whose opinion I trust) recommended SFColonics. She even followed Julienne when she changed locations. I am more than pleased I followed her advice on so many levels. I will outline the comparisons between these two places. Practitioner: the practitioner I had at Biotherapy was over-involved in my process and made unhelpful comments, saying things like "You're really constipated," (why I was going there in the first place), "mostly gas," (Duh) and sighing a lot during my session. I gathered I was really making her work for her pay! As well, she gossiped to me about her co-workers & even mentioned other clients she had trouble with. If it wasn't that, it was general discussion with things she was unhappy about in life. I just wanted quiet so I could focus on my body! And good energy from my practitioner. Of course, I felt "performance anxiety," probably a throwback to my own toilet training. Maybe that's why I didn't see much in the way of results. Julienne, on the other hand, has been very encouraging. First time jitters were relieved. She set me up, explained how everything worked, showed me the buzzer for help and said she would rather come and help for any little thing than for me to question what was going on. She always knocked on the door before entering. She gave me extra time when I needed to complete a cleansing cycle. Even though there is never a sense of being on a timer, the session's time slot is honored. Whenever we interact, she is always positive and encouraging. After my first session, I mentioned, "mostly gas" and she said, "you have to start somewhere." What a difference! Positive encouragement! Maybe this is why I made more progress there. Atmosphere: Biotherapy Clinic is dated but I accepted that because it's clean. Interactions with the lady at the desk was generously friendly, although there were times I felt she was miffed. As time went on, I picked up on interoffice tension. I could hear the receptionist and my practitioner exchanging complaints (audible whispering) about one of their co-workers. On another occasions, my practitioner had words at the door of my treatment room with another practitioner about the bathroom not being ready for me. Then she complained to me about her! Something is definitely going on there (in terms of how people feel about working there) but, let's face it, I shouldn't be privy to this. This tension contributed to an overall negative atmosphere. In the treatment room, the practitioner is always present so the general negativity kept adding unfavorably to the atmosphere. As far as other comfort levels go, It is a "clinic" and one feels this. You wear a thin disposable hospital gown that generally tears before the treatment is finished. On the other hand, SFColonics has a pleasant, clean, modern and uncluttered decor. You get a clean, generously sized t-shirt, a towel to cover your lower parts, a hot water bottle with a fuzzy cover for your tummy and the cutest, cozy socks. The room is kept warm, as well. After getting situated, Julienne comes in to set up a personal tray with what you want handily available. Essentially, you are left on your own and in charge while understanding there's always help with the call button within reach. This works for me! Let's face it, colonics are not high on the list of feel good activities. You go through it to feel good later! At SFColonics, I have privacy during a sensitive process and am as comfortable I could be during an inherently uncomfortable process. Maybe this is why I made more progress here. System: SFColonics is an "open system" and Biotherapy is a "closed system." Julienne is quick to point out that some people prefer the other system and honors personal preferences. You can google the difference since I don't want to get graphic. I would suggest giving this more than one chance. For me, there is NO COMPARISON from the privacy, to the autonomy, to the way it works. If you have constipation issues, you may not see results on your first visit. Give it time. I kept getting greater results with each and every appointment. I just finished my 5th session and I could not believe how much my body let go of. Maybe the system is the reason I made more progress here! Actually, it's all of the above! Everything checks out! I had an absolutely wonderful experience here and I just had to write a review. I was a little nervous about my first time but I was so comfortable. Julianne is a life saver. She made the process so easy and answered all of my questions. She checked up on me and made sure I was comfortable from start to finish. When my colonic was done all I could think about was when I should make my next appointment to come back. I was also provided with a comfy shirt, fuzzy socks, tea, and a heating pad. I tried San Francisco Colonics with disappointing results. For me- the process was awkward and uncomfortable- I had to strip naked from the waist down and have a tube inserted which pushed water into my insides. The staff was indifferent through out this procedure. I feel I didn't feel I got any benefit for the money I had spent - it's expensive. Taking a brisk walk is more uplifting ( and less awkward) for me than doing San Francisco colonics. read more

The open system allows you to retreat into your own private healing cave. You can dim the lights, opt for aromatherapy and tea service, or just close your eyes and let the gentle hydration system do its thing. Getting a colonic is not inherently the most comfortable thing in the world, but SF Colonics makes it a pleasant experience.
