Parking is also free. - I got a birria taco and it was surprisingly affordable. It was juicy and well seasoned. The bar staff is kind and patient. I noticed some people just bring their own door and post up at a table. Kinda like a picnic. - This is a family friendly event. Kids play in the yard in the back. I love it here, I love it. I love it. I love it. I've been here several times. It's fun to go and relax with a beautiful scenery. Grab a drink in the beer garden and look in their adorable gift shop. They also host many events here as well. I follow them on Instagram and they always post what's going on whether they have makers, market, or vendor, fairs, or even meet up for dogs and their doggy owners all of the events are quite fun to go to. They have a lovely selection of plants and flowers that you can purchase. The beer garden is great, and they have a nice selection for such a small little area. They have bar top outdoor tables you can sit at, some lovely patio furniture, that surrounds fire, pits, picnic tables for all your seating needs. They even have a little grassy area as well. You will often see different local food trucks parked out in front. It's perfect to grab a bite to eat head on and grab something from the beer garden. They have plenty of alcoholic and non-alcoholic options. This place is fun for the whole family. My husband and I went to get a drink and we noticed they were having a Corgi day here. We are corgis, and their owners can congregate and let the dogs play their owners chat and get to know each other. This is a very fun, special and beautiful place. I came across this through Yelp when I searched beer gardens and I'm so glad I did. The garden can be an event venue, but it is also a plant nursery. You wonder around the property and there is a lot of seating. They bring in food venders on the weekends. I would definitely come back again to have a beer and relax. read more

Howdy! No literally that is the owners name (not making fun of it by any means). He is one of the nicest, most hospitable owners/host ever. Super engaging, remembers your name, and always has a smile. Driving down old town Nipomo, you would never imagine this beer garden exists. You walk in and immediately transformed into another world. Being a former (maybe still is) nursery, it's is teeming with plants and trees. Mixed with delicious beer on tap it is a like a dream. I would just like to pass on some positive vibes for Birchwood Nipomo. Howdy is the proprietor and it always great to stop by and say Howdy! I have been coming here since February 2024 when I discovered this fabulous place to hang out and have a draft beer or two. Wonderful little spot that resembles a German Biergarten. Howdy has rotating taps but always has something tasty, as well as having wine and other canned alternatives to choose from. This is a great hang out that is just enough outside the two downtown areas to be passed by. But don't do that, stop by....it will definitely be worth your time. If you are like me, the there other choices for craft, draft beer on the central coast, but this is one to frequent. read more

An incredibly disappointing experience working with this venue. We'd booked Birchwood for our wedding just before COVID struck and paid a 60% deposit upon booking. Over the past year+ we've had to make many changes given CDC guidelines, country ordinances, health concerns within our family, etc... Not to mention the fact that Birchwood didn't seem to be abiding by SLO county's safety ordinances. We just didn't see a way to make it happen. Unfortunately, we ended up cancelling our wedding celebration and asked Lauren if... 1) A refund was an option -- was told outright NO (seems like other reviewers here got special treatment??) 2) Could we put some of our $1500+ deposit towards hiring her to provide some flowers for a small COVID-bubble friendly dinner with immediate family instead. The answer was also NO. Being a COVID venue is tough but so is being a COVID bride. All my other vendors were extremely accommodating but Birchwood stuck out since they didn't give me an inch during the whole process. Seems like a great venue but what you really need is great service and people handling your wedding and this just isn't it. read more

I was so very lucky to be able to marry the love of my life at Birchwood Garden Barn & Home, on Saturday, June 23rd, 2018. This place is magical and so perfect for any occasion, especially a wedding/reception venue. Don't think twice about booking; make an appointment and work with the great team at Birchwood. They have loads of services to choose from other than a wedding/reception venue (floral, catering, alcoholic beverages for events, and more)! For our wedding ceremony and reception, both held at Birchwood, we asked for all floral work to be done by the florist offered through Birchwood; we had the appetizers (linguica and a large charcuterie board for 100 guests) cooked, prepared, and displayed through Birchwood team, as well as dinner Santa Maria Style BBQ with all the fixings and sides done by Birchwood; and we had guests amenities provided through Birchwood as well. Birchwood Garden, Barn & Home! Beautiful nursery, beer garden, event venue- that keeps going and going. Had no idea how big this place was or what exactly it was just by looking from the outside in. Traditional Biergarten with lots of books and crannies, picnic tables, vine covered lounge seating, hanging swing chairs, huge pepper tree, succulents, gifts, snacks & beer on tap. I walked and walked and still never saw the whole place! I dropped in spontaneously while searching for a blue mailbox drop (still looking for one on W Tefft St, this side of the 101.) What a hidden gem! As I walked around it just got better. On Sunday, same day as pop-up caterer's ~ Touch Of Soul ~ was dishing up their tasty southern style bbq! Mitch and Minnie are the kindest souls! We could talk the art of bbq ribs all day. Got me a plate to go, delicious ribs perfectly sized for eating with your fingers, potato salad, baked beans, slice of bread & deep dish peach cobbler. The whole experience was better than I could have expected or write here. Go check it out! read more

When I first walked into Birchwood I knew immediately that this was the venue for me. The price was right and it had the charm that I was looking for. We were also very fond of Lauren who gave us a tour and is part owner of the venue. They were flexible with the number of guest (to an extent of course). They also let you be as DIY as you wanted or provided full service which I appreciated. Other venues force you to use their vendors which is such a drag when you're on a budget. In addition, they kept their promise of upgrading their venue, for example they made a bridal suite and a beer gardens that totally enhance the place. Needless to say, due to COVID, we were unable to have our 200 person wedding in 2020. We rescheduled to the end of the year once, but with no end in site, and because as a nurse I was taking care of COVID patients, we cancelled. Eventhough, Birchwood was already taking a monetary hit, they gave me my money back which I will be forever grateful for. So while I can only imagine how awesome my wedding would have been here, this venue deserves it's 5 stars for their charm, flexibility, amenities and good customer service. Not to mention the food (tasting) was delicious by Lauren W. I highly recommend this hidden gem! read more

I just had my wedding here August of 2019, I will never ever regret choosing this venue! Lauren and Howdy are the coolest owners EVER! They gave me so much freedom with this beautiful venue. I created my exact vision of what I wanted and to top it off pricing was literally amazing! My guests were in awe when they saw how gorgeous this place was. There's twinkle lights everywhere, two acres of literally nothing but gorgeous fountains and greenery everywhere! My husband and I were in love the second we laid eyes on this place! I was SO excited to have my event here. I couldn't find a garden to have my tea party baby shower, until I stumbled across this little gem! Unfortunately, after discussing the event with the owner, Lauren, she sent me an invoice that was DOUBLE what we'd agreed to (including the cost of a port-a-potty that I NEVER would've agreed to). I live right down the street and we'd talked about how great it was that there was a neighborhood venue that wasn't gouging people on price (thank god it wasn't for a wedding!). I had to change our venue 10 days before our event, needless to say, invitations had already gone out & I had to send someone over to direct people to the correct venue. *sigh* SO very disappointed. read more

Beautiful and unique nursery with great customer service. Plants were reasonably priced and looked healthy. The grounds were tranquil and eye catching. I was offered a cup of tea to sip as I shopped, which I thoroughly enjoyed. I loved the random chickens and ducks foraging for food. I look forward to coming here for an evening event. read more

Beer Garden Review (NOT A WEDDING VENUE REVIEW!): This place is AWESOME!! The property itself is gorgeous and so big! It's just super unfortunate that they don't enforce the mask or social distancing policies. The staff themselves wear masks but many of the patrons walk around the grounds and order food from the food trucks without wearing masks. This means that their spit while ordering is contaminating the food and drinks. We attempted to socially distance and a few women came and sat next to us with one of their backs literally touching the back of someone in our party forcing us to move because they couldn't follow the rules and no one bothered to enforce them. Unfortunately I will not be visiting again until I know they are enforcing policies to keep us all safe and healthy. I truly can't wait until they are safely serving food and drinks because this place is so cool! But unfortunately I can not support a business that does not make the safety of their customers and stopping the spread of COVID-19 a priority. I know people are sick of being harassed by anti-maskers when they attempt to enforce these policies, and that's extremely disappointing that customers can be so volatile and mean, but I also feel enforcing these policies is vital to ensuring the safety and well being of our community.. read more

Birchwood is the perfect venue for any special occasion. Everything was beyond our expectations, from the sparkling twinkle lights to the flowing fountains, and the flavorful food catered by the owner Lauren. I have attended this venue multiple times for weddings, and a baby shower every-time it just gets better and better. Being that its in Nipomo the weather is normally perfect but just in case it gets a little colder than expected Birchwood offers portable heaters that are very cost affective. Lauren has a lot of connections in the business which makes it easy and stress free to find the perfect central coast vendor. lastly, the food catered by Lauren was far greater than I could ever imagine. She can make anything, at all three events we were served different meals all being equally amazing but the steak specifically really made me want to go back for more! read more

My kids were married at Birchwood last weekend. What a magical place. The grounds are beautiful. So many unique places for pictures including the 400 year old pepper tree they were married under. Lauren the owner is amazing and did a fantastic job with the flowers and cocktail hour. She was so easy to work with.
