Went for breakfast. It was decent. Nothing to complain about, nothing to brag about. There were four of us, we all got different dishes. I will say the lady who ordered the omelette said it was perfect, one of the best she has ever had. Service was ok. Atmosphere lacking. Portions decent. Quality could be improved. read more

We are local but haven't been to the Birchwood in a while because it was extra greasy the last time we were there. We decided to give them another try after a break. We both ordered pancakes and at first they tasted lemon-y and after another bite it seemed that they were made with bad buttermilk. I know buttermilk has a slightly sour-ish flavor but these were way beyond that and had a smell. We let the waitress know and she informed us that lots of people at them and loved them and walked away. She scribbled stuff off on our bill and plopped it down on our table without saying a word. She seemed personally offended by our complaint (politely stated, I might add) and never offered anything else or even spoke to us. Odd response. We wont be back and this bums me out because I always want to support local business. read more

Came in with my girlfriend because she said she loved to eat here, we were the only ones inside the restaurant at the time so service and speed with the order and food was great! About 10 minutes for the food, but when my burger came back there was a hair in it, they remade my burger and it came out good the second time, but you could feel the energy in the room and staff chatting about us in the back, my girls food was pretty decent tho, I came in expecting to rate them 5 stars and now it's a 2, because she won't let me rate me 1 lol read more

Hmm, diner food at close proximity to the nursing home? They get 3 stars for average food but good location for us while visiting a relative. We walked across the highway so yeah, it's close. But there is ample parking. I only ordered the breaded mushrooms and they were very good. Hubby ordered the Reuben. Not much meat but he said it was ok. We also ordered the chili. A bit spicy but not overwhelming. Probably won't go again, the food wasn't enough to bring me back. read more

OK, so here is the story about this place. The waitress, Korina, is the best you can have. The owner is extremely lucky to have her! The new waitress, Casey, is very sweet and kind and good at what she does. The food is good and comes to you quick enough. My boyfriend and I went there quite often, mostly for breakfast. But, the burgers are great also, as well as the southwest wrap and the chicken caesar salad. However, even though I do recommend going there, something went on the other day there that turned me off enough for ME not to return. I was in the mood for liver and onins, but did not want dinner because it was 10:30am. So, I asked Korina if I could get liver and onions with two eggs and a dinner roll. Kind as she is, she said yes I could and wrote it down for the owner to cook. When he read the order, he threw a hissy fit! He loudly complained about it not being on the menu, how I wouldn't find that in a restaurant within 100 miles, and went on and on about it until I ended up very upset and in tears. Needless to say I sure was not able emotionally to enjoy my food when it came, but did not dare to leave any either. I snuck part of it out to my dog. Korina had gone back and shut him up and told him I was upset, so he came out to ask how my liver was and let me know he had never seen liver and eggs ever before anywhere. Then he asked my boyfriend about our dog that was waiting for us in the van, said he loves labrador retrievers and went out to say hello to the dog through the window. Very nice, yes, but a little too little a little to late. I wish nothing but the best for Korina and Casey, and I will miss them both very much. I also hope the owner does well with the place and that they are there for many years. One last thing, Cheryl is the best cook they have and is also kind and careing. I will miss her as well. Terrible service we never seen the waitress after getting our food. I actually left my party who wanted a refill and they waited a long time after everyone was done eating to bring the bill so he could get a refill. They were not busy either. Food was good but better food at better prices is available in the immediate area. We will not be back. read more

We waited over an hour to get our food. My husband ordered eggs over medium and they came slimy. I ordered scrambled well and they were slimy. Neither of us wanted to send them back for fear it would take another hour to get eggs. Our dog had eggs for breakfast. Our waitress "hid" in the corner and never checked in on any of her tables. We had to ask another waitress for more coffee and water for tea. I do not recommend going to eat here. read more

We were on our way home from skiing at caberfae, and were getting hungry. We decided to have an adventure with a local place. This place is fantastic! Just a simple, home style coming restaurant, but they do it well! The staff was great as well. My drink was never went empty. My nephew got a cod dinner, which looked good, and he said it was really good. I got the BBQ beef sandwich. There was no description for it, so I wasn't exactly sure what to expect, but I did not expect the divine sandwich served to me. I don't know exactly what they do, but wow! It is definitely one of the best sandwiches I have had. The beef was just crisped a bit and that just put it over the top! If you happen by this neck of the woods, definitely stop in. And if you like beef and BBQ, try the BBQ beef sandwich. You'll be glad you did! read more

Wonderful quiet small town feel. My family's favorite place to go to eat. The waitstaff are friendly and extremely helpful. The food is not only delicious but reasonably priced. There is no "Oh we aren't making that anymore/yet". My husband loves breakfast and our son loves chicken strips and fries.. they call literally go in there at anytime of the day and order what they want. Don't judge a book by its cover. This place is water in a desert. With not much around we were looking for anything and found a gem. Everything is homemade. We had the soup (chicken noodle) and it was better than my grandma's (sorry grandma). Breakfast here is hardy with fresh ingredients. Great omelets and waffles. The burger was juicy and the bun was obviously made in house. All in all, this is a ma and pa joint that fits the bill for all tastes. We'll be back. Oh, and great service! read more

We head up to the Farwell area most weekends and we always head to the Birchwood for a quality breakfast. The wait staff are friendly and fast and the food excellent. I love the country breakfast and my wife enjoys the skillets. The omelets are huge and delicious. We go for dinners as well and they have daily specials. Went here because of all the positive reviews....I wasn't impressed. I ordered a 1/3 pound bacon cheeseburger and it was far from 1/3 pound more like under a quarter pound! Also it did not include lettuce, tomato or onion! And when I asked they simply said it doesn't come with and never offered?!?! Fries were over cooked. But on a positive note out waitress was very nice and the coke was good! Seriously Why would you serve a burger without Lettuce and tomato!?!? read more
