This was our first time here and parking was a total pain in the ass. When we walked in we were welcomed immediately The service was outstanding. Everyone seemed happy to be there. The warden and I sat at the bar and ordered a latte, modelo and guacamole to start. The guacamole was delicious, but very small in portion. We then had the birria grilled cheese with consommé. This was outstanding and should be a go to for rainy day in Portland. We ended with the short stack. This was different to say the least. The wife didn't like it at all after one bite.I didn't love it, but it's not your typical pancake. It's kinda overthinking what a pancake should be, the syrup was very thin and didn't complement the cake very well. Amazing! Lots of local parking, very centrally located in the west end. The vibe in here is southwestern modern with very cool conversation pit style booths. The food was seasoned, colorful, and creative. This is a great place to bring someone if you wanna show off. The horchata and chocolate tres leches were amazing. There were four of us, and I ordered their take on huevos rancheros. The flavors really stood out, especially with the two different hot sauces that gave the dish just the right amount of heat and depth. It was one of the highlights of my meal. The brunch cocktails were also excellent and complemented the food well. Prices are in line with what you would expect at a higher end brunch spot, particularly one that is so well known in the area. You might drive by and miss this off the beaten path oasis. Formerly a store years ago, changed to a Mexican flare brunch spot and recently opened for dinner experience is not a place to miss. While a small place and menu it packs a powerful punch of flavor. Staff well versed in their offerings in food and libations. They have a small allergy menu which has options and warmings of cross contamination. We had the taco dinner and the protein offerings were flavorful. Tequila/mezcal fans unite! Friends invited us to Ocotillo and it did not disappoint!! This place is beautiful and has a very comfortable air about it. I found out up until a few months ago it was primarily a brunch place. Well they do dinner with ease. Come early to find parking. This area of Dartmouth is primarily residential so street parking is challenging, but worth it. All staff are friendly, full of information and prompt. Now food & drink!! Mezcal and tequila prominent. Plenty of other options as well. Check out the food pictures, they taste as good as it looks. I haven't eaten nearly enough brunch in Portland but Ocotillo was a great pick! I went in on a Sunday morning and was seated at the bar right away. If you have a larger group it seems reservations are good to have. The bartenders Izzy and Jenny were both amazing! Super helpful and checked in frequently. I got the citrus-ade which is lemon, lime, and grapefruit lemonade and was perfectly refreshing. I tried the cowboy curds and gravy and also got a side of cornbread. They had a bunch of specials that also sounded delicious! My meal was so good and a good sized portion. It reheated well the next day for lunch! The brisket was juicy and tender and paired really nicely with crispy potatoes and cheese curds. Slightly seasonal (?) rotating menu. In the winter, I've downed the birria grilled cheese with the beef consumme in a reputable fashion. Savoury, gluttonous, it ticked the box for the 'unch' in brunch. Went last weekend on a 90 degree day (ouch) and ordered the buttermilk masa pancakes, with a caramelized pineapple syrup to smother your short stack. With a healthy portion of the miso butter, this was easily something I'd order again, perhaps for the table, so we all can enjoy. Prices are on par for a more upscale establishment. Glad to note they've turned down the music. The first time I went was so loud, the group of gals I went with could not stop talking about how our ears were ringing. Before the Terlingua owners opened Ocotillo, this West End space had many lives - in the ten years I've lived down the street, I've seen it be Little Giant, The Danforth.. nothing seems to stick. Ocotillo seems to be the perfect fit. I came here yesterday for brunch as a party of 4 - a Sunday around 12:30. They had a table for us, and were super friendly - there is more space than I remember! It has to be said - The Danforth had a very snooty, rich-people-only vibe with $18 cocktails that I simply did not enjoy. Didn't fit in our neighborhood, and I don't know a single person that frequented it. It was dark, unwelcoming, and cold. That being said, I was hesitant to go back. Ocotillo is the total OPPOSITE. Welcoming energy, absolutely amazing and personable staff, and delicious food! Bright and airy, such fun decor, really comfy seating, and an open space. I LOVE when places make you feel welcome and not like you're a burden. Walking in here was such a breath of fresh air. I got the enchiladas - which are vegetarian, filled with cheese and potato. I also got a side of hollandaise sauce, side of fruit, and side of cornbread. We got churros for the table too with caramel sauce. All. WAs. INCREDIBLE. Bf got brisket hash, other dining partners got the cowpoke plate and mushroom taco. Rave reviews all around. Major hits were the cornbread - fried and crispy served with fluffy butter - and the churros disappeared within two minutes. Absolutely delicious. They refill water quickly - they are on TOP of service - and they are happy to split the bill for the table. Delicious iced tea, and I can't wait to try a cocktail next time. The only thing I'm bummed about is I didn't get to see the bathroom - which I usually have to see before I do 5-star reviews, LOL. Cute space - the pink tones give it such an upbeat feel. Came for brunch on a Saturday and it was pretty busy when we got there. We had a reservation but had to wait a bit. We sat in the dining room part of the restaurant. The hash was really good - it wasn't heavy at all, which is what I was worried about. My husband got lox and avocado and he loved it. I'm so glad I dined here right after they opened because I feel they're about to be one of Portland's hottest breakfast spots. We just don't have anything else like it in town. Southwestern influence in Portland? Say less. When I stepped inside, I felt like I was in a terracotta-hued daydream with New Mexico vibes. The space at Ocotillo was simply a feast for my eyes -- you could tell that every element was meticulously designed for the space. The velvety orange booths, the plants, and the art wall all work perfectly together without it feeling like they're trying too hard. It felt authentic. The menu was impressive and extensive. They offer everything: soups, salads, tacos, plates, and sandwiches. I want to go back and try it all. I ordered the Terlingua Brisket Hash, and holy moly, talk about a tasty brunch plate. The poached eggs and brisket were perfectly cooked. I topped it with their homemade hot sauce and just couldn't get enough of it. Also, their coffee was phenomenal. The service was also excellent, but I think my favorite thing about Ocotillo is that they made their menu accessible. I checked, and all plates are under $20. Given the location, quality, and experience, this is a great deal in Portland, and I hope they remain affordable through the years. I got my sister a gift card to here for Christmas. We were really excited to try it because we loved Terlingua. We checked online to see what the weekend menu was and it was confusing. Sundays had brunch listed from 8-9, Happy Hour 3-5 and dinner 5-9. We assumed that meant brunch was served all day, not just for an hour, but we called ahead to clarify. The woman who answered the phone said brunch would be served until 3pm. Okay? My sister had her eye on the pulled pork sandwich that was listed on the brunch menu. We arrived at 2:30 and were told there would be a few minutes wait and if we wanted to be sure to order off the brunch menu, we should take the open seats outside. It was a cold rainy day, but there were space heaters installed so we decided to go along with it. Apparently the 3-5pm happy hour means they only serve chips & salsa, sliders of the day, and poutine. It wasn't a great feeling to have to rush to beat the clock, but we were up for the challenge seeing how we browsed the menu ahead of time. However, my sister's turn comes around and the waiter lets her know the pulled pork sandwich is only on the weekday brunch menu. Low and behold, she looks down and it is quite literally the only thing not listed on the menu in front of us that was shown online. Why? She was really disappointed seeing how we came for brunch solely because that's what menu that was listed on, but went ahead and got two tacos. Were they worth $8 a whack? Not really. I got the birria grilled cheese, which was by far the best meal of that day. My son got the pancakes (kinda hard to mess up). My daughter got the enchiladas suizas. This fell really flat. It had no dimension to it's texture or taste. The potatoes should have been crisped to add some crunch because the enchilada itself was just kinda of mushy. The "creamy" tomatillo sauce was foamy, flavorless, and there was way too much of it. The dish was underwhelming to say the least. Ending with churros for dessert was a good decision. Definitely give those a shot. The confusing menu hours, missing dish, outdoor seating and less than satisfying enchilada dish did not leave us with the experience we were expecting after reading so many wonderful reviews. My family and I went here yesterday morning brunch and were pleasantly surprised. The ambiance was so unique and welcoming. Gave off a unique vibe of a Mexican bbq diner from the past. For food we started with the churros, definitely some of the better ones around and the selections of dipping sauces for them was great. For my main I got the short stack with caramelized pineapple syrup and the huevos ocotillo. I couldn't stop eating and the meal caught me by surprise. The flavors, presentation, and the clear effort that was put in to the food was definitely noticeable. One of the best brunches I have experienced recently. I would 100% recommend this spot. Inviting and welcoming space with a small bar, some tables and lots of cozy booth seating tables. It had a warm and inviting vibe for sure! My fiancée and I met a friend for brunch on Sunday and didn't have a reservation but were willing to wait half an hour for a table to give it a shot. Thankfully some bar seats opened up after a quick 5 minutes. The staff were friendly and attentive despite seeming like their work was nonstop busy. The mimosa and tequila sunrise were both very tasty and well made. They had plenty of other cocktails and beers available and a fair offering of non alcoholic options too. As soon as I heard about this place opening and knowing it would be a sister restaurant to Terlingua I knew their food would be top notch especially their meat offerings. Which their brisket hash was phenomenal and I would instantly order it again next time we go. They also offered different breakfast tacos, salads, burgers/sandwiches, etc so everyone should find something. The meal was ended off the perfect way with complimentary churros from a manager/possible owner. After trying them I would get an order anytime we stop in here. What an absolutely beautiful space! Echoing other reviewers, it's got a warm, welcoming, terracotta color palette; and, the skylights illuminate the room, making it feel even more spacious in a really lovely way. It's atmospherically unlike anything else in Portland right now! Brunch reservations? YES. So appreciate that. We need more of that in this city! The staff here is phenomenal; they were so patient with us when we were indecisive and then had loads of questions about the menu (which they checked with the bar about, then the kitchen about), they had great recommendations, they checked-in on us just the right amount, and it felt genuine when - after they dropped off the bill - they encouraged us to wrap-up in our own time (granted it was a midweek, late morning so there weren't many people there). All of that said, though, this is not a restaurant for me personally - and that's okay!; you're probably going to love it here. Eating vegan, the menu had at the time of visiting three options (according to the staff): The Salad (leaf lettuce, avocado, crispy potato, red onion, and charred corn vinaigrette), Chips & Salsa, or the Mushroom Breakfast Tacos (refried beans, crispy potato, cilantro; skip the scrambled egg). The breakfast taco I got was not particularly memorable, it was mostly just under-seasoned mushrooms; I'm glad I asked for sides of both the salsa macha and salsa borracha (you HAVE to try these!) because they were the star of the show and provided most of the flavor. The tacos are currently $8 for one (... adding avocado adds an additional $2.50, and there isn't much [check my photos]). For quality and size, there are other places in town offering similar options for $6ish as of writing this (and for me, I'd rather go to those places at this time). But, if you don't have any dietary restrictions and love being a part of the city's trendier/newer places: come here! This might be my new favorite brunch spot in Portland. They've taken the best aspects of other restaurants to Frankenstein together what should be a very popular brunch. It's the perfect upscale complement to the divey Ruski's across the street. -The previous tenant, Danforth, had an incredibly attractive space. Ocotillo brightened the colors but kept much of the rest. This is easily the nicest brunch dining room in the city. -As much as I love the food at Hot Suppa, it's one of the most customer-unfriendly restaurants. There's usually a long wait, and you have to stand outside and wait in person. Octotillo has followed the lead of Sinful Kitchen by taking reservations on Resy, which makes life MUCH easier. I just wish the bar seats could be reserved as well. -Terlingua (which has the same ownership) has the best brisket in the city, and Ocotillo offers it on several dishes, or as a side. The brisket hash is my single favorite brunch dish in Portland. This is not little chunks of brisket mixed with potatoes. It's a full order, and very reasonably priced. -Terlingua also has a strong cocktail program, which has carried over to Ocotillo. It's a huge menu of brunch, and traditional, creative cocktails. It's so good that you could come just for drinks. With the best dining room, drinks, and top Tex-Mex food, there's a lot to love about Ocotillo. Especially with an easy reservation system and more parking than downtown, this will be high on my rotation for Portland brunch. read more

The green onions add freshness and the only thing I would change would be to add more freshness. The horchata was the perfect drink for brunch but I would've liked less ice and little more drink.
