I've been a longtime BIRDCODE customer and genuinely love their food. I used to primarily go to the West Hartford location, especially when I was working, and Cheshire quickly became my favorite because it's closer to home. If I was craving BIRDCODE, I'd stop without thinking twice. That's why tonight's experience was especially disappointing. I stopped at the Cheshire location tonight, 8/18 around 8:08 PM, and from the beginning I felt rushed while ordering. I gave my order, including a sweet tea, but the interaction was so rushed that I decided to double-check everything at the window. My order was $42.67 before the sweet tea, which was also shown on my order paper. At the window, I had issues using the loyalty points on the account. I handed over the phone multiple times and received conflicting answers about whether there were points available, even though the account holder could see that there were 80+ points available. Eventually I just paid and moved on. I then checked the bag before leaving because I already felt like the order had been rushed -- and my sweet tea was missing. When I mentioned it, I was told it hadn't been heard during the order. I explained that I had said it twice and that the order had been repeated back to me, but the interaction had been so rushed that I wasn't surprised something was missed. I was charged for it, which was completely fine. I also had to ask about an extra ranch that I didn't initially see in the bag. Unfortunately, when I got home, the pink lemonade was so bad that I had to throw it away. I've had a large portion of BIRDCODE's menu over the years, so I know what I'm used to from them. The sweet tea tasted normal, but the lemonade did not. The food itself was fine -- nothing wrong with what I'm accustomed to from BIRDCODE. The service is what really ruined this visit for me. I don't expect perfection, and I understand mistakes happen, but as a longtime customer, I don't expect to feel rushed, unheard, and like I have to check behind the staff to make sure my order is actually correct. The name on the sticker was Courtney, and unfortunately this interaction has made me want to take a break from BIRDCODE altogether. That's disappointing because this used to be a place I could go to without hesitation. This was my first time at this location. I utilize the drive-through. I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to eat so I asked for a recommendation. A staff member suggested the Sando. So I definitely ordered that. The food was so good. I really liked the spice and the seasoning on the french fries as well as the comeback sauce that came with that. Hmmm. Well, i had wanted to check the place out for awhile. Today I trekked from New Haven to Cheshire. I was greated by a very snarky cashier (red hair and lots of tats). She seemed annoyed from the first question I asked- it didn't get better, as Ai gave my orderTthis person shouldn't be in front of customers and might be best served in the back of house. I asked what was in their comeback sauce. Only by asking twice did a manager tell me they add Worcestershire, which contains anchovy. There was no mention that the sauce contained seafood. That is a HUGE oversight. I have an allergy and had I not clarified, I could have gotten sick. The chicken sandwich was delicious but presented poorly (see pic). My granddaughter's chicken kids meal had 4 really small "popcorn chicken" pieces. For $7.49, I guess we got what we paid for. I might be an outlier on not being a fan of the fries because my husband and son like them and I can get the slaw which is good. Service has been fast and friendly. Holy hell... I was genuinely shocked after taking my first bite of the chicken sandwich at BIRDCODE. My boyfriend and I were driving home from a trip and decided to stop for a quick bite. I'm so glad we did. This location was in a cute plaza, making it easy and a quick place to grab lunch. We ordered the hot honey sandwich, the Sando (medium heat), fries, and a chocolate milkshake. The hot honey sandwich had a bit of spice, more sweet. Just be prepared because the hot honey sauce is literally dripping from the sandwich! The Sando was more my style. The chicken was incredibly juicy, perfectly seasoned, had a decent amount of spice even being medium heat, and was surprisingly not greasy at all. The coleslaw paired very well with the chicken, and the comeback sauce was very good. The sandwich was so juicy that I didn't even feel the need to add extra sauce. The fries were okay, but the sandwiches were definitely the stars of the meal. The chocolate milkshake was another surprise - it tasted like it had chocolate crunchies blended into it, which gave it an amazing texture. Chocolate lovers will absolutely love it. Today I decided to try the new Birdcode restaurant that has recently opened. Upon entering, I was a little surprised that the sitting area wasn't larger. Here you order, then they will call your name and bring the food out to you. I ordered a combo meal. Chicken sandwich with mild heat, fries, and a drink. When my order came out, they didn't know I ordered a drink but quickly brought one out to me. The chicken sandwich was a generous portion,the batter was crispy,and the chicken was moist. The mild hot sauce was just the right heat for me. The crinkle-cut fries were nice and crispy. What I didn't like was that my soda cup was overfilled with crushed ice, leaving little room for the beverage. If you needed a straw, ketchup, a fork, or more napkins, etc., you had to keep asking someone to get them for you because nothing was out for you to help yourself. Best fried chicken sandwich! Prefer it to Haven, Popeyes and Hot Murga. Medium spice has a good kick. The chicken is tasty, crispy and tender. Not overcooked at all, love that the slaw doesn't have mayo as I am not a mayo fan. I had the Sando without the Comeback Sauce (mayo issue). My husband had the classic and my daughter, the tenders. We all agreed that everything was delicious. Portion size was generous. The Cheshire location just opened so it was clean but there was staff coming around cleaning and clearing. We were happy to see a Birdcode open in Cheshire, as we had heard great things about the place. We've dined there three times so far, and everything has been great. We get the Sando meal - a chicken sandwich, fries, and a drink. The quality of the chicken is excellent. I get it with zero spice (I think that might be called "country") and my husband now does the same. If you like hot chicken, they can really add the heat. His medium spice was even a bit for him, so he figured it out and now orders less. Fries are krinkle cut and crispy. I also appreciate the individual Heinz ketchups as opposed to bottles on the tables. The staff in Cheshire is friendly and goes above and beyond for its customers. Nice friendly staffers from the get go. Small menu - so not a lot of thinking or confusion. It's basically a new fast food chicken franchise. I had the Sando chicken sandwich meal (chicken, fries and fountain drink). I ordered mine "hot" and I enjoyed the non flavored heat sauce. The fried moist flavored chicken came through as the heat of the sauce came at the end of the third bite. The chicken was in a beautiful brioche bun and topped with a small scoop of coleslaw and heat sauce. The crinkle french fries was ample and seasoned well. At long last BIRDCODE opened in Cheshire and it did not disappoint! The food is just as good as the other locations and the atmosphere is amazing and unique. The code bites are great for smaller appetites and the dirty sodas like the butterscotch Dr. Pepper are a perfect match!
