We decided a steak with all the fixin's was need to property celebrate our wedding anniversary. I eliminated from consideration me hovering over our BBQ grill so a search for a reasonably priced restaurant was undertaken. After eliminating several options including its sister restaurant, Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, I settled on this chain's Southington location. This being our initial visit we carefully perused the online menu beforehand settling on ribeye steaks which we ordered as rare as we dared. A bottle of Merlot and glasses of water were soon requested though the latter was largely ignored. Meals include a loaf of warm bread accompanied by butter plus tossed salads with each of us choosing blue cheese as our preferred dressing. A side dish is included with us deciding to go our separate ways. A loaded baked potato for the Mrs. and crispy Brussels sprouts for me. Her steak was excellent though served closer to medium rare than rare while mine was cooked perfectly, but had a higher fat to lean ratio than I do. As far as sides are concerned, her potato made her smile even though her mouth was usually full while my sprouts proved to be the best I have ever consumed. Our 1st time at a Connecticut Longhorn location, and 1020 West Street in Southington didn't disappoint. I assumed this Longhorn would be just as stellar as the Longhorns we've been at in New Jersey, and I was right, it was. Our meals were all cooked perfectly, I can't seem to find a place that does a steak better than a Longhorn (including my own grill at home). Longhorn just does everything right. I often forget that Longhorn is a chain restaurant, it just shatters the mold of that genre. Service was outstanding also, our waitress was attentive & personable. Entering the restaurant, it was busy and there was a wait of about 10-15 minutes, which gave me a good impression ... considering there were many people waiting to be seated. Made me more anticipated to trying their food. As we are seated, they brought heated wheat bread w/butter on the side. I decided to choose the New York Strip Steak and chose two sides to go along with it. I chose the mac and cheese w/bacon pieces and asparagus. The mac and cheese was absolutely delicious, cheesy and had the bit of crunch to it. The asparagus tasted incredibly good as well. I have been to this location many times. I always order the steak tips with mushrooms and onions. I was there recently and the steak tips were so tender and delicious. They are normally pretty good hence why I ordered them fairly regularly however I don't know if they have a new cook or something that was going on, but they were fantastic. I also had a side of brussels sprouts as well as a sweet potato. Absolutely delicious. I wish I could remember our waitresses name. She was absolutely hysterical so funny super nice. It was FREEZING inside so make sure to bring a jacket because I was in cargo pants and t-shirt and was dying for a sweatshirt. Anyways, i got the sirloin and shrimp combo with roasted corn and a baked potato. the sirloin was perfectly cooked medium and baked potato was darn good! the shrimp wasn't bad, just a bit underwhelming and the rice under it was not so great. grilled corn was ok. my reason for a lower rate is because the waitress was not clear on some options. i saw any steak entrees come with a salad and a side but when i ordered, she said it actually came with two sides (i was under the impression this was in addition to the salad). i was confused why she never asked what kind of dressing i wanted but then realized she canceled out the salad for another side but never really said that. then my boyfriend and family members all ordered burgers - said it came with fries and each of them ordered a second side because she said the burgers come with a side (making it seem like you can get a second side in addition to the sides at no charge). but that was not correct.. i know it doesn't sound like a big deal but further clarity and explanation, would've been helpful. read more

Longhorn is a must for a fun family outing. My seven year old nephew said it's in his top five restaurants. While there I played peekaboo with a cute 2 year old at the table in front of us. So this is definitely a restaurant that satisfies your tastebuds yet you can feel comfortable bringing your littles to. They accommodated our party of 5 effortlessly. Even with all the children on the premises it wasn't loud or noisy. We started with the Tonion appetizer which was very tasty. I ordered the ribeye which was cooked perfectly. Instead of a side I asked to substitute a salad for an up charge which they obliged. The Caesar salad was very tasty and well worth the few extra dollars. I also had the French onion soup that looked amazing. My one critique was it's saltiness. I was a bit concerned my feet would be swollen by morning. The raspberry lemonade is the perfect blend of tart and sweet. I just wish the waiter would've offered me at least one refill. My sister was the only person at the table that was offered a refill. My mom and I joked that her pink hair offered her celebrity treatment since she looked like a star! Lol. The portion sizes are huge. So I did have enough leftovers for lunch the next day. We went here on Veteran's Day in 2022 and while it was extremely busy, we got seated fairly quickly and the service was smooth. All our meals were delicious and cooked perfectly. We ordered chicken parmesan and of course, steak. The side of mac and cheese was very good also! We really were full by the end of the night and it was great. My family decided to get some takeout for dinner and I must say...everything was yummy! We got an appetizer of the spicy chicken bites - generous portion, and the sauce they coat the chicken bites in, is spot on! My Husband got the renegade sirloin - ordered it medium rare - received it medium rare! Thank you! He also got the loaded baked potato and all the fixings came in little separate cups. My daughter was happy with her kid's steak and seasoned french fries! We ordered the molten lava cake for dessert. I would've rather them not warm the cake and allowed me to warm it at home but nevertheless, the icecream was a generous scoop and served on the side. The cake was moist and delicious! The onion petals were on, was not a fan of the sauce, I did end up dipping in the chicken sauce which was a better choice the onion one tasted a little horseradish We both had the filet, I added the lobster tails. One doesn't go to a chain steakhouse for the greatest steaks ever. However, I think LongHorn does a decent job of providing large quantities of decent-tasting food at a reasonable prices, although you have to have realistic expectations when you come here. They don't serve anywhere near prime or much beyond even supermarket level meat. We tried the T-bone, a boneless ribeye, and a small sirloin. The T-bone was decently flavorful and a touch overcooked for medium. The marbling isn't great on their meat selection and the cut is quite thin. A few too many bits of fatty gristle that weren't properly trimmed. The ribeye was decent (it's hard to screw this one up), although again a very thin cut. The medium rare sirloin was the standout here, beefy and delicious and not too thin of a cut. I'll have to try their filet next time to have a complete perspective on all of their steaks. The baked potatoes are medium/small but are done perfectly with a great balance of toppings. The brussels sprouts taste great but they really go overboard with the butter on them, they're practically swimming in it. Mashed potatoes are pedestrian and plain. The kids meals are a surprisingly good value! Service is great, the restaurant is clean, the knives provided for steaks are substantial, and prices are very reasonable. This is a 3-star review not because I didn't enjoy dinner here, but that's where it stacks up against the hundreds of steakhouses I've been to. I've been to this chain many times, although this was my 1st time at this location. As you can see, I got a steak with a Side salad and loaded potato for lunch.The bar was steady and the restaurant see was calm and quiet for the late lunch hour. I know these establishments typically get busier during dinner hours and on weekends. It was nice to have a quiet lunch. There was 2 employees behind the bar, and the bartender was attentive. The service was quick and friendly. My steak was cooked to the correct temperature and came out hot.All other food items were good, and the bread is always the best part! First I'll state the Longhorne is my favorite steakhouse and I've given glowing reviews up till now. My wife took me out for a birthday dinner at Longhorn steakhouse. The food was excellent as always, but I have to say the I knocked off a star because of less than stellar service. Our waitress seemd to rush everything and I wanted to take my time and enjoy. I hate to be rushed especially when the restaurant was only 1/4 full at the time. She never came back to check on us until she happened to pass us while serving another table. Probably one of the best "chain" steakhouses in the Southington/Waterbury area. It's even better than some of the local places I've eaten too. Especially for the price you pay. I've been here on 2 different occasions and have had good food experiences both times. This is one place where I will choose the steak option over anything else. The only reason I'm giving it 3 stars is because the service is fairly slow and oddly operated. The most recent time I went the server took the plates off our table to accommodate a customer to only later give them back. And we also didn't get our warm bread until after that. I know many restaurants are short staffed but it's just a little odd how it all went down. Not to mention that they ran out of kids menus and we had to Google the menu for our kid to choose. We had our first ever visit to a Longhorn at the Southington location. We have dined in many chain steakhouses going back decades. We usually go to the Outback for a relatively cheap steak meal but wanted to try something different. Well, our experience at Longhorn was good and bad but the bad was so bad we won't be returning. I ordered the sirloin and shrimp combo. My order actually came to me minus the steak. I didn't notice it until the waitress left. I managed to flag her down and she took my plate away and returned with it very quickly this time with the steak. Not only wasn't it medium but it was pretty well done and dry like shoe leather. I didn't want to complain after all that so I just ate it. Unfortunately that wasn't all that was wrong with the food. First of all the steak itself was not up to par with the quality of the steak at the Outback. On top of that everything was over salted to an insane degree. I've eaten out a lot and know to expect a lot of sodium in restaurant food but this was over the top to the point of being ridiculous. I am also a home cook and can tell what they put in the food. There was tons of sodium in everything, even the butter sauce for the shrimp. After we left I didn't feel so good and that never happens. But then again this was the most sodium I think I've ever had in one meal judging from the way it tasted and how I felt later. We are in our '60s and can't eat that amount of sodium, not that anyone should. It's not good for one's health. Plus why does everything have to be smothered in some kind of sticky, salty-sweet sauce? Is it to cover up the inferior quality of the food and the cooks? My husband ordered a side of broccoli and it looked so sad like it came from a cheap store brand frozen bag and half of it was yellow, not even green. Ironically it had absolutely zero seasoning on it! The one thing that would have needed a little extra salt and sauce didn't get it! At least they make an effort at the Outback with the vegetables. I know people love this place but we are foodies and didn't find the food appetizing. I guess people love the "value" but who needs huge portions anyway? No wonder so many people are fat and unhealthy in this country. If they eat here all the time they might not make it to my age. I'll take quality over quantity any day. The only reason I'm giving it 2 stars is because our server was excellent and I wouldn't feel right not mentioning that, although I did think that she should have given us some kind of break on the cost of the food after our experience not getting the steak at first and then getting it overdone. I know that would have been done in many other restaurants including the Outback, where a manager will come over to your table to talk to you about it. I am beyond bewildered and flummoxed at this monstrosity of a restaurant. The man at the front desk told us it would be a 10-15 minute wait but it took almost 2 whole hours for the table to be ready. I am extremely disappointed in what I thought was an excellent food chain. The Longhorn Steakhouse reputation has been permanently tarnished in my eyes. Despite the wait, the food was great and the cheese was very drippy indeed. If this establishment hired some different workers outside the kitchen, then maybe it would earn more than 2 stars. First of all it took them two whole hours to get us a table and deliver my food, after they told me it would be a ten to fifteen minute wait. I told the waitress I would lake a bacon cheese burger with no other toppings and no condiments on it. They proceeded to put mayonnaise on it (I hate mayonnaise).
