6.4.25: I had to come into town to run an errand and since I was in the area I wanted to check out this pie shop I heard about that offered both, sweet and savory pies. I almost missed the place not realizing it was a cute little house. When I walked in, I was greeted with a smile and told them it was my first time in. The employee was nice and friendly and explained everything I asked about. I was looking forward to trying a savory pie, however, they did not have a meatless option that day. I ended up getting a quad, which was a pick of any 4 mini pies. There were many too choose from and I had a tough time narrowing it to just 4. My choices were: Key Lime, Raspberry Cream, Chocolate Decadence, and the last one I couldn't remember it's name but it's the bright blue one with marshmallows on top (see pic). Chocolate Decadence: This was my favorite one of the 4. It was rich, thick, and creamy, but didn't give a heavy feeling. The chocolate crust had a nice crumble and the 1 fresh raspberry garnish gave it that sweet finish. Key Lime: I really enjoyed the taste of this key lime. It had just the right amount of sweetness and no bitter tart after taste. Some key limes I've had were just too sugary and glad this one wasn't like that. The crust was a coconut graham-like that was too hard for me and I thought the coconut over powered the taste of the key lime. Raspberry Cream: Good raspberry cream filling but with the richness of the chocolate crust and garnish, it almost overpowered the raspberry flavor. The blue one that I couldn't remember it's name nor could I find it on their website: Unfortunately, this was my least favorite one although it was "pretty" looking. The coconut graham crust overpowered the pie filling flavor. Given I couldn't remember it's name, I couldn't get a taste or feel for what the blue filling was supposed to taste like--all I could taste was coconut. Definitely a fun one for the kids, but just not for me which is okay since there's many more to try. Service was outstanding and she also let me know I could order a veggie savory pie online for pickup since there's no guarantee if it's available that day or not. It is a small place, but there were a couple of 2-seaters inside to sit at. I took mine to-go since I still needed to find some lunch. I do plan to return to try a different set of flavors. read more

Friendly staff and nice atmosphere. I bought one personal pie to eat there and loved it so much I ended up buying four more to take home for the family to try. The pies are a little pricey, but during this day and age everything is. But so worth the it. I Plan to stop by the next time I pass through. Awesome pies. read more

My only issue is with their apple pie; they don't peel the apples which is huge flaw in my opinion, especially with such an iconic pie for small town America. Super cute pie shop in Hayden. The staff are very nice and helpful. I got a quad of the savory pies. My favorite was the taco pie. The chicken pot pie came in second- it would be perfect but I thought it had too many peas. lol. The shepherds pie kinda was more like a meatloaf pie- i think if it was less meaty and more veggie/potatoey with ground beef like the taco pie, I would have liked it more. ALERT....Pies AND Chicken Pot Pies!!! Recently opened a second location. The first store is in Post Falls. Both places, the young employees are so outgoing, helpful and enjoy working there. It's obvious the owner treats her employees like they were her family. That's how you grow and maintain a successful business. No I don't know the owner....I understand and can identify good businesses. Great pies. This picture is of the large chicken pot pie we purchased. You can cut in half and freeze that portion for another date. Delicious and tasty crust. There is a customer point system AND Veteran discount. I love that they serve personal pies here for those not looking for a huge one! The personal pies are reasonably priced at $5 each. I tried the key lime and the peaches. The peaches one was okay- it had chunks of peaches that were good, but the pudding or cream that was in there just tasted sweet and lacked other spices or tang that could have made it more interesting. The key lime pie was delicious though! Loved that one and would order it again! read more

This little gem of a bakery makes wonderful pies. Our favorite is the Key Lime. When family from Norway visited recently, I served them the Key Lime pie. Amazing pies with such warm, friendly staff. I love that they have GF options which you usually have to order ahead, but they seem to make some extras for pick up around holidays. I was able to get two personal GF pies and my husband got two regular personal pies (pictured). Flavor and quality is top notch, I would recommend this place to anyone visiting town. Seems the word is already out with locals as they've always been busy when I stop by. Flavors we had were: pumpkin cream gf, coconut cream gf, pumpkin, and banana caramel. So good! We are in love with this pie shop. My wife has been wanting to visit here since we moved to WA, and we finally went for her birthday. The shop itself is in a very cool old house and there were many flavors of their fresh, hand-crafted pies to pick from. This was my second time coming in and it was delectable as I remember! My coworker and I got the chicken pot pie individual sizes and a chocolate and key lime pie bite. Heaven in the mouth. My wife have loved getting the Key Lime and Pot Pies from the Post Falls location since they've opened, but this new little house in Hayden I think is even better. There's more room to drink your coffee and we even got a tour of their soon to be Airbnb upstairs. Fantastic job with clean decor despite the small size of this historic structure. My Wife and I have been looking for a good 'pie-shop', in the greater Coeur d'Alene area, for sometime, now. Birdie's came highly recommended and last month - May '24, we decided to check it out. Myself, it was the Key Lime, and my Wife, the Chocolate Caramel Pecan [both in the individual pies]. Honestly, we both were unimpressed with the results... The Key Lime was pretty 'flat' and had little to no 'zest' - Key Lime's are suppose to taste 'limey' and to be abit tart or tangy; this wasn't [And 'yes', I know what a Key Lime is suppose to taste like, having partaken of them, in Florida]. And this one, was way-to-sweet, for my tastebuds. The Wife's, Chocolate Caramel Pecan, was pretty 'flat' and 'tasteless' [her words] and the crust was pretty 'doughy' and had no 'flavor' - My Wife's been baking pies, for over 60+ years and she uses, "Grandma's" pie crust recipe and it's absolutely excellent; light - flakey - tender... This one missed out on all the finer points, of what constitutes a 'good crust'. What brought us here, was I was looking for a 'Lemon Meringue' pie - Sadly, these [according to staff] are seldom done or not available... The place is clean - nicely appointed [but pretty small, inside] - staff are polite and extremely pleasant; we had no 'issues' with in regards to this. My/Our 'issues' is that the pies could be alot better - Taste-wise and texture-wise. Believe me, when I say, 'we are not pie-snobs'. I had such high hope for this place. After all...PIE! However, I was very disappointed with the apple pie. It was very tart with no flavor and the apples were crunchy and not peeled! Thankfully, I only bought the personal size and did not spring for a whole pie. I will try another flavor at some point, but was pretty let down by my first experience. read more

I think pies for me are just worth making. I came in for their lunch special at the recommendation of a friend only to realize their savory pies are cold. Thankfully I was on my way home. I think they have fantastic crust, their hand held sweet pies don't have quite enough filling to crust ratio for me and the pies that our friend brought for Easter were pretty but not necessarily worth the price. That being said, I make my own pies so for those that don't it may be a worthwhile cost. Pies aren't cheap or easy to make. read more
