I loved the on trend options ( think Dubai mocha) of iced coffees, hot coffees , espressos and teas as well as the home style cakes, muffins and savory and sweet toasts . Fantastic place to grab a bite and a coffee or smoothie. We stopped on our road trip as I needed some coffee. We got hot latte, berry smoothie and avocado toast. Latte was delicious and so was the smoothie. Avocado toast was probably the best one I've had at any restaurant/cafe . It was very nicely made, visually appealing. I've grabbed coffee here a couple different days, and today I finally sat for breakfast. No one else in the family felt like getting out of bed, so I had the quiet treat of enjoying this visit solo. I opted for the Tradition - a nicely priced plate with eggs, bacon, grits and a wonderful homemade sourdough biscuit. Staff is friendly, and the place is clean with clear social distancing measures in place. There's an upside "window" set up from the patio, or, you may walk in if you are wearingI can't eat this rich everyday, but I do intend to stop through at least a few more times on our visit. read more

I should have made this post a few days ago when i was actually there,, but my mom was in town for Mardi Gras and I HATE posting while dining with family and friends. I was excited to take mom here because a) I rarely get a chance to go here b) I knew she would adore it... and she did! I love the sweet potato pancakes, but we both tried the sweet potato waffle this time. Still delicious... but I would have to recommend the pancakes over the waffles. Definitely a small town cafe with big city ideas. The building itself blends in well with the old nostalgia of its surroundings. The interior is stuffed with odds and ends of trinkets, paintings and doodads if it wasn't for the food and tables, you would think you were in a antique shop. Our table was old Aluminium side table that resembled a stove top. Our server was very friendly and prompt to greet us. The menu was simple with gourmet titling. The food itself was , well, run of the mill. Nothing spectacular. I was disappointed that they didn't have hash browns or home fries. Considering the feel of the environment and the menu style, home fries would have been a perfect fit, rather than yellow grits. (Which weren't bad, considering I don't eat grits really and it came with the meal). My girlfriend got the "low cal" meal. Her food, as she describes it, was pretty bland, the bacon looked like super thin bargain brand. My meal was good enough to finish, I thought the egg portion seemed a bit small. The sausage seemed a little salty also. For a weekend or occasional breakfast stop , this place would fit the bill. I would think we would dine here again if everything else was closed. read more

Stopped in to Birdman on the way to one of my meetings. This place has good vibes, and is very laidback and had that hometown feel. They have a local photographers work hanging on the walls, and they are beautiful pieces of work. Breakfast is very minimalistic but to the point. I enjoyed the breakfast sandwich with sausage. I felt like I was sitting at home eating it! All their food looks delicious and the coffee is also great. I went with the sugar free vanilla latte, and once again not disappointed. It appears that they might have live music at times, as they have it set up in the front corner. This would be an excellent place to sit and enjoy, listening to live music. The staff is very friendly, and welcoming. I definitely will be returning when I come back to St Francisville. read more

Went in for breakfast. They microwave their bacon, which I'm not wild about. I didn't have any of the baked goods, but the eggs were okay. The best thing about this place is the coffee. They have espresso drinks on the menu and they're well prepared. So my recommendation would be, find somewhere else if you're looking for top quality food, but if you're in it for the caffeine fix, this is a good option. read more

Lynn and her staff are the epitome of hospitality, offering great food, baked goods and coffee with stellar service. I stopped in this morning on my way out of town. I ordered a latte and food. 30 minutes later the food hadn't come yet and people who ordered after me are being served. I told the cook to cancel my order. No one is wearing gloves. I saw the owner flip over a waffle with her barehands, place the pile of butter on the counter, and replace the same butter on the flipped over waffle, all with barehands. The cook is buttering toast with no gloves. I paid for my latte and got out of there as fast as I could. read more

Quirky coffee shop with local art hanging on the walls serving up some good breakfast! We almost passed this place up because we thought it was closed. Thankfully, as we were pulling off I noticed the open sign on the door. If you are having breakfast you can sit at one of the mismatched chairs and tables, which completes the feel of the place, and a server will take your order. You also have the option to go to the counter and just order coffee. We sat down and were immediately greeted. I opted for an ice tea since it was nearly 90 degrees outside already at 9:30 in the morning and the bagel/egg sandwich. My husband got a coffee and the eggs and salsa. We both enjoyed our meal, but what makes this place special is the atmosphere. I felt like I was truly in a small town and I knew everyone. This was the perfect ending to our weekend in the St. Francisville area. read more

Quaint little place that is obviously a favorite for locals. Name is deceiving. They do not have books that I saw anywhere. Food and coffee were ok, nothing special. Server could have been more pleasant - at least smile and pretend you're happy to have customers. Prices were reasonable. T-shirts are over priced. Could use more shirt selection. Some of them looked like leftovers that weren't sold at an art festival. Pretty much the only breakfast option that was open on a Wednesday morning. read more

I had the iced Chickadee it was a raspberry and white chocolate mocha and it was so yummy.! they also have gelato. For breakfast I ordered the Traditional which was 2 eggs cooked your way, I had mine over medium and they were cooked perfect. It also came with yellow grits and your choice of bacon or sausage & choice of toast or biscuit. The eggs were delicious and perfectly cooked, the grits needed a little salt but tasted great after I salted them, the biscuit was good the bacon May of been baked or something it wasn't my favorite. But I'll go back. Cute place, friendly service and most diffidently the BEST in the area ! I would recommend The Birdman if your in the area. It's in historic area of town between The Magnolia restaurant and the travel court. Lots of parking under the big shade trees and seating inside and outside. read more

A very eclectic little place. We wanted to sit outside, but the chairs were very dirty and rusted. We came back in and found a table in the corner that had to be cleaned off. Our waiter seemed very disinterested in us, but took our order nonetheless. It took a while to get our food and he never once checked on us after or filled my coffee cup. The one saving grace and the reason I didn't rate this place poorly was the OMG sweet potato pancakes. They were off the chain yummy! read more

The sweet potato waffles were awesome. The Traditional breakfast and coffee were good. The service really sucked, and that is what will keep me from returning to this coffee shop. We went there this past Friday morning (2 days ago) and the guy in the fedora hat was our server. We placed our breakfast order along with our coffee order and asked for extra sugar, as there were only 2 packets on the table. He pointed to the 2 packets and said there's already some on the table. We told him we'd need more. When he brought our coffee, he brought 2 more packets. After awhile we had to flag him down for coffee refills and he came back with the coffee, we had to ask for more sugar. And when he returned, he brought...you guessed it...2 packs of sugar. Every time we asked him for something he rolled his eyes like this was the last place he wanted to be. We figured, no big deal...maybe he was just having a bad morning. We went back this morning, before heading back home, to give this place another shot and we got the fedora hat guy again. My wife even said maybe he'll be in better spirits than a couple days ago... Wrong. The coffee / sugar scenario was an exact replay of Friday morning, with the same rolling of the eyes. Should sugar at a Coffee Shop be such a big deal? After bringing us our coffee, he never returned to take our breakfast order. We had to ask a young lady behind the counter to take our order. This place needs to lose the fedora hat guy. We had such an awesome time in St Francisville and definitely will return to experience more of the area. Every place we went to made us feel so welcome and were so cheerful and friendly. This place, especially the fedora hat guy, definitely made us feel like "outsiders". They need not worry...we won't be back to bother them. read more

On our recent trip to Louisiana, we went for a leisurely drive up to St. Francisville. We had lunch at the Magnolia Cafe (right behind Birdman), but needed an espresso fix! (Sadly, I was in Zachary and there is not one good place to get an espresso drink). I got a small latte and a small pastry. Hit the spot! Super sweet staff as I've always experienced.
