We got a new waiter who was being trained. Yea us! A trainee. But in reality, both the trainee and trainer did a great job We got our order taken and the food was delivered. Both in a reasonable amount of time. The food has been and was delicious. I have always said the pancakes are amazing. But what else would you expect when you make pancakes with heavy sweet cream? Sure it's a bit expensive, but good quality food isn't cheap My only complaint? The music. Started with heavy metal as we went in, smooth jazz as we ate and some non descript jazz as we left. All this with a motif of rustic log cabin from the great far north. If you have ever been to a Black Bear diner you know. Bears and heavy timber everywhere. The music just did not fit Overall, I enjoy blackbear, and always look forward to their pancake pancakes. I am not sure what kind of music would fit the motif they have but I know that heavy metal and smooth jazz, isn't it.

I'm leaving this review because our waitress, Maria, was fantastic. She took excellent care of our family, was attentive, and handled any issues with the meal without hesitation. She was detail-oriented and made sure everything was taken care of. If you visit Black Bear Diner and happen to get her as your server, you'll be in good hands.

Every time my cup was empty they magically appeared to fill it. They just showed up right at the time I needed something but did not ask about my mom and then which I greatly appreciated. We had the bacon cheddar fries and they came with ranch and chipotle ranch both made in house and they were great! Chipotle ranch has a little kick but we both liked it. My wife got the Ragin Cajun Club and could only eat 1/4 of it because of the abundant portion sizes. She also got onion rings that went great with the ranch. I got the Cajun Pork Chop and it might have been the greatest dish I've ever eaten. It's served on a helping of the cheddar grits with andouille gravy and creole fried eggs. It's like an explosion of savory Cajun goodness with every bite. The right amount of spice. Runny yokes with the gravy and grits and a bite of lightly breaded pork chop. If I have to complaint jts that it's a bone in pork chop. But as you can see from the picture I all but gnawed the bone.

Warning if you sit outdoors the flies come out in full force . Ugh. My server was incredible and so so nice , happily removed fruit from my bill . They were pretty short staffed for a normal breakfast rush hour and the restaurant is in need of some deep cleaning . I had been there once before back in 2016, though I do not remember if it was this location or another one, and I do not remember what I ordered then. In any case, it was nice to go back and try it again. This time, I ordered the TX Hot Chik'n. The sandwich was crispy and flavorful, with a good mix of BBQ and buffalo sauce. The pickles, lettuce, mayo, and sesame bun all worked well together, and it was filling without feeling too heavy. My friend ordered the Jamaican Jerk San'ich and enjoyed it. It had bold seasoning and a good savory flavor, so it was a solid choice if you want something with a little more spice and personality. The "Jerk" spelled with mayo on the bun and the backwards "R" was a cute touch. Overall, Spiral Diner had a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, and it is a good lunch spot in Fort Worth whether you are vegan or just interested in trying plant-based comfort food. I was happy to have had the chance to go back and hopefully will be able to return more frequently whenever I am in town.

Food wise, the Dutch Baby Pancake is a MUST HAVE here. It's properly made and has one of the best flavor profiles. I got mine with bananas and whipped cream. The lemon gives so much moisture and adds a great balance to the sweetness. The Dutch Babies I've had before don't come anywhere near the ones at Old South. I wish I was able to document a video of how it's prepared in front of you - it's truly an experience. As for the savory, the skillet was such a great choice as well. It's a lot of food in a portion, so come hungry. Chorizo with biscuit and gravy and eggs - SOO GOOD!! If I'm here again, I would literally place the same order. It was perfection.

I ordered the pork chop plate, and the server kindly let me try both a fried pork chop and a smothered one since I couldn't make up my mind. I also had fried cabbage and yams. The cabbage had a little unexpected heat to it, but that's actually the same way my family cooks theirs, so I ended up really enjoying it. One thing that stood out to me was the staff. I'm not sure if the restaurant is always staffed this way, but I was genuinely impressed that all the front-line workers were men -- and every single one of them was courteous, respectful, patient, and mindful of each customer. While I enjoyed my meal, I watched them treat each person who walked in with the same positive energy and attentiveness. If you're in the area, go support this restaurant. We ordered nachos as an appetizer to split, along with two beers and a kids meal. What arrived was Motley Crue waking from a drug binge, raiding the pantry and trash, then declaring "let's do it." What was supposed to be nachos was anything but. The only explanation is someone who had never seen nachos tried to recreate them after hearing a rumor from someone at a Lowe's parking lot. The "chips" were not tortilla chips. They were rectangular strips of pale, flimsy material that looked like scraps of drywall film pulled out of a new construction site. An albino drywall experiment that somehow escaped the kitchen and landed on a plate. The entire thing was covered in barbecue sauce, with some mystery white liquid poured over the top. We assume it was supposed to be queso, but it definitely was not queso. Calling it queso feels disrespectful to actual queso. We ate maybe a quarter of it and decided we needed to leave before things got worse. Six hours later, we received an unannounced encore performance in the bathroom. I would avoid this place like a plague outbreak--unless you have an upcoming colonoscopy and want to skip the bowel prep.
