When I was visiting Fort Worth a few weekends ago, I was able to make time for lunch at Spiral Diner with a friend. I had been there once before back in 2016, though I do not remember if it was this location or another one, and I do not remember what I ordered then. In any case, it was nice to go back and try it again. This time, I ordered the TX Hot Chik'n. The sandwich was crispy and flavorful, with a good mix of BBQ and buffalo sauce. The pickles, lettuce, mayo, and sesame bun all worked well together, and it was filling without feeling too heavy. My friend ordered the Jamaican Jerk San'ich and enjoyed it. It had bold seasoning and a good savory flavor, so it was a solid choice if you want something with a little more spice and personality. The "Jerk" spelled with mayo on the bun and the backwards "R" was a cute touch. Overall, Spiral Diner had a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, and it is a good lunch spot in Fort Worth whether you are vegan or just interested in trying plant-based comfort food. I was happy to have had the chance to go back and hopefully will be able to return more frequently whenever I am in town. read more

i LOVE spiral. as someone who isn't vegan but is allergic to dairy, this is my go-to dessert place. the shakes and sundaes are all just so good. the waitstaff is so friendly and they all look so cool! the vibe is 50s diner but make it queer and it is such a safe place to be. i cannot recommend enough the nachos. they are so amazing. they managed to nail the tang of sour cream perfectly and the quinoa as a replacement for ground beef works on a level you would never expect. the nacho junior is enough to feed two people, easily. and the strawberry hibiscus rooibos iced-t is so yummy! i love it sweetened, it's so refreshing and amazing. anyway, this is such a great place and such a safe and welcoming environment full of great smells, good food, and good people read more

Spiral is my go to spot for vegan nachos since I can't eat cheese. The nachos have two different types of beans, quinoa, vegan cheese and sour cream, jalapeños, olives, tomatoes, green onions, and are topped with guacamole. Sometimes the guac is made with more spicier spices in it, like it was today, so I can't eat it. But for those that do not have a sensitivity to spice, it is great. It seems that the cheese or something else in the nachos had more of a spice in it today as well. I did help my hubby clear the plate and hoping I won't regret it. We finished off our night with a cookie butter shake. It has been my all-time favorite flavor there and I'm so glad they brought it back as a regular item on the menu. read more

Thus is like my third time to review. And I came here back to back. The day before the Cowtown Marathon to carb load, and the next day sheet the marathon to enjoy a celebratory meal. This is my favorite restaurant so I enjoyed both days very much! I always get the nacho supremo Jr. literal heaven! I will always get this meal. There are so many toppings that go on the chips, and the cashew cheese is top notch, my favorite thing about the entire dish. This meal is addictive. Love love love. The only thing I will say OSS that my befriend got the nacho supreamo regular, and we did not see a size difference, but there is a $5 difference. So be aware. The place was fairly empty, so I wouldn't worry too much about a wait during the week Service was friendly but fairly slow, particularly given how few people were at the restaurant. Near the end of our meal we had a hard time finding a server to check us out I had the breakfast burrito and thought it was yummy! Had the tight seasoning to make for a convincing chorizo taste. I appreciated that it wasn't too potatoey or cheesy, had an overall good balance of ingredients. My partner had the baked potato grilled cheese which was also quite good from the bite I tried. Was really good. I had a great experience. my friend and I actually split two. I got the patty melt and she got the ghost pepper. We both got the unbelievable burger I think is what you call it to be honest. I'm not a vegan, but I was willing to give it a try and I could not tell that I was eating vegan food so hats off to the vegan chefs. Stopped by Spiral Diner & Bakery for a quick bite over the weekend. When you arrive there is plenty of parking on the side street and in front of the restaurant. When you walk in, it feels a bit kind of eclectic with different art and lamps at each table. I'll check in with the host and you'll be seated. I highly recommend a reservation as it tends to get busy and you may have to wait. I ordered the nacho supremo which chips, cashew cheese, black beans, quinoa, black olives, cilantro, corn, and tomatoes, green onion, and sour cream, guacamole, and pickled jalapeños. It was excellent, although the cashew cheese is a bit on the colder side. I have been wanting to try out Spiral Diner for a few years now, and finally had the chance to go when I was in FW for an event! The parking is easy, and the interior is really cute. It's just a fun ambiance with lots of decorations and good vibes. We just came in for some nachos, which may look expensive, but the portion is huge (but enough for at least 2!). We got the buffalo chicken nachos, and they were pretty good. My issue was I am vegetarian and I don't enjoy smokey/chipotle tasting foods. The "chicken" was inedible for me, and this did hurt my overall experience because I had to eat around it. I wish that was noted on the menu as buffalo sauce is usually tangy but not smokey. The music as you walk in catches you a bit by surprise, unless I walked in on an incredibly good playlist. They had R&B hits and lgbtq friendly representation. The waiter was so helpful he recommended the sweet heat chicken melt and honestly did not disappoint. French toast sandwich with eggs and melted cheese and chicken in between. I love Spiral Diner! It's such a bummer the location in Dallas closed, but I love visiting when I'm in the Fort Worth area. My absolutely favorite is the Bunny Bowl with tofu and a big dish of vegan nacho cheese on the side. That vegan cheese is the showstopper of the meal. They have super delicious pancakes at spiral. The nacho meal is a standout choice because you get to have the vegan cheese everywhere! Service is usually slow from times of been, but it's a special trip for me to make it out there, so I don't mind and am usually with solid company too. I ordered macaroni and cheese for him and the cheese potatoes for me which I should have asked more about because they weren't cheese fries, as I thought. This place has severely gone downhill over the years and it's very sad to see. A lot of the food is dry and or not seasoned properly. The server tip option is defaulted to 25% which i think is rude. Elote nachos are the only thing I still enjoy on their menu. I ordered their new gyro platter and as someone from the Middle East I felt insulted. The boy at the register was stand-offish at first but his attitude improved as I continued on with my questions. His initial response was, "no, Spiral Diner has been the same for [XX amount of] years". I've been going to Spiral Diner occasionally for the past 5 years and I've always loved it. There have a lot of different menu items that cater to whatever you're craving-and they also have a bunch of weekly/month specials so there's always something new to try. I love the homey feeling of the restaurant and how down-to-earth the decor is. Overall I consider it a "Must Visit" for friends/family when they are in town. The past few times I've visited, I've had the pleasure of being served by Mimi (or Minnie, I'm not sure which it is). Mimi seems to be the only server working the floor whenever I visit, and she does an amazing job of keeping up with all the tables. I've never once had an issue with her not taking my order in a timely manor or her not checking up with me throughout my meal. She's awesome! Also, the dreamboats donuts are spectacular. We went to Arlington for the Cowboys game on Thanksgiving Day. My in-laws are vegan, so we were in search of a brunch spot for the day after that would work for them and hopefully appease the meat eaters in my immediate family. The interior has a very hipster/modern kinda vibe to it. There are (2) single stall, all gender bathrooms that are clean. They ordered (not pictured) the Southern Comfort, which comes with Tofu scramble (add cheese), seasoned home fries, and two slices of bacon. My FIL added spinach to his scramble and my MIL asked for a side of sautéed veggies (they were happy and able to accommodate her). They really enjoyed their meal. Now to my meat eating family of 4 - my 6 y/o ordered the chocolate chip pancakes and enjoyed those. My 11 y/o ordered the two step, which comes with two pancakes and two slices of bacon. She LOVED the bacon and said it tasted just like regular bacon. We also ordered a side bacon and impossible sausage Pattie's. The 6y/o loved the sausage Pattie's, but not the bacon because she's searching for bacon fat lol. I ordered the Viva Las Migas, which features Tofu scramble with corn chips, bacun bits, tomatoes, black olives, corn, zucchini, and salsa. Topped with guac, sour cream, and I opted for tortilla chips on the side. It tasted really really good & I've never had tofu scramble before. The seasoning was perfect! Even the 11 y/o liked it. They put some unnecessary paprika on the chips, but it still tastes good. My husband is a true meatatarian & ordered the sunshine san'ich (Homemade Tofu Scramble, two slices of bacon, and chipotle mayo on buttered Texas Toast). The appetizer one that we ordered is now served with the seasoned tortilla chips separate from the elote dip. So it's a little less messy to eat. I came into Spiral Diner Fort Worth for the first time in several years on a Wednesday in July. The wait for a table wasn't terribly long, but I was only one person and the dining room was not full. My drink order was taken promptly, followed by my food order, given some time to look at the menu. The server was polite if a bit inattentive. I had to ask for a drink refill, and she still never offered after I asked once. The wait for food wasn't terribly long, and the free wifi allowed me to do some homework while waiting. I had the Ate Layer Burrito, which is definitely a knife and fork situation. The taste was good and the portion was fine. I just would have liked my iced tea to be refilled without asking. For $3.25 a beverage, I don't think that's unreasonable. Perhaps they should return to the self-serve soda fountain that they originally opened with. read more

We usually have a pleasant experience but this time was not a good time. Our waiters name was mimi and she was rather rude and handled our poor experience with passive aggression. The elote nachos took over 30 minutes to arrive and when they did they were missing the tajin, white cheese crumble, and they were drenched in sour cream. when we told her she said "you should have told me so i could have fixed it" mind you, it doesn't take an expert to see the light corn and excessive sour cream. she said all she could offer was a 20% than ran away. We wandered down the street to checkout what was in the neighborhood and returned 22 minutes later to find they had our table ready! Sometime within the last year they acquired a new employee her name is Mimi. She always takes good care of everyone there. She's the best. I'll definitely be coming back more often because of her.
