One of our favorite Indian food places and we are so lucky it's close to home. Our must-get dishes are the Gobi 65, chicken lollipops, and the fried corn kernals in a light batter and spices....then we rotate trying new entrees each time. Must come here with larger parties sometime so we can try everything. Their weekend buffet is delish as well; I only wish they did it weekdays too! read more

If there is a negative rating I would choose that for their Biryanis. I have eaten here many times in 2019 when I honestly thought they were good in cooking Biryani and preparing Mughalai dishes. I have ordered Paneer Biryani and Chicken Dum Biryani on 12/1/2021. Paneer Biryani cannot be even called as Biryani its just a colored rice with colored paneer. Our first visit here my husband asked for suggestion and the lady at the counter was very helpful. Everything we ordered was very good. We had the chicken puff, chicken kadai, garlic naan, chicken Hakka noodles, and mango lassi. We ordered to-go. This is hands down one of the best halal food options in the Pearland area and thrives on its excellent Indo-Chinese menu options as well as reasonably flavorful desi food as well. It's difficult to identify the best Chinese dish here as the Hakka Noodles, Chicken Fried Rice, and Chili chicken are all terrific. The chicken 65 and chicken Manchurian appetizers are on point too while pepper chicken might just be the most flavorful chicken entree on the menu. The kebabs are solid too and both the malai kebabs and hariyali kebabs leave a lasting impression with their authentic tandoori taste. The goat Biryani is also a signature item that can compete with any great Biryani offering in the greater Houston area, which is a huge compliment. The chicken Biryani, on the other hand, pales in comparison as I discovered in my most recent trip. For some reason, the chicken dum Biryani just misses the mark with not much of a memorable flavor to it. On the other hand, I thoroughly enjoyed the Dum ka chicken as our second dish on this most recent visit as it had a delicious cashew curry paired with well seasoned chunks of boneless chicken -- can't go wrong with that! The presentation and service here is also very disciplined but they did recently bump up their prices without proper notification of these new prices as the customers usually just get handed the old menus. Hopefully they can fix that and continue to serve as a very reliable restaurant in the area. UPDATE: Please be wary of rising prices as just about everything on the menu is now $1-2 more expensive relative to all latest online menus. They are partnering with Clearlake-based restaurant Tru India so the menus are in the process of being standardized for both locations. read more

My husband and I are mildly obsessed with Biryani Express. We get delivery regularly and have done so the last 3 or 4 years. They've never messed up an order in all that time. I actually feel guilty that I've never written them a review. My favorites are Gobi 65, any kind of Korma, Paneer Butter Masala, and Aloo Mutter. The naan bread is on point every time, so fresh and delicious. The quality is consistent. We have only dined in once because the place is pretty small. Sometimes they have a lunch buffet but I would call ahead if you're going that route because I'm not sure how often they offer it. read more

My go to spot for Indian food in Pearland. The Vindaloo is spicy and flavorful. Don't sleep on the chicken puffs behind the register. I get a few of those but they don't usually make it home. I've only ordered through Uber Eats but I was impressed by the portion size and presentation of the Chicken Biryani. It smelled fresh, the spices were on point and the chicken was very tender. The food, cleanliness & service is excellent. So far we have been there 2 times and enjoyed the food. The decor needs some work(but that is far down the list for us). The portions are just right for two people to finish. I prefer a slightly larger portion to take back home and would be happy to pay little extra for that. The biryani is excellent and so is the masala dosa. The chicken tikka masala was enough to enjoy to with two naans. From the outside, you really don't expect to get much out of here. But boy, are you so wrong. My fiance is an avid Indian food fan. Well, ok, he's a food fan in general, but he gets to experience real Indian food from Indians on boats on a regular basis, so his palate is a bit more refined than most people. However, ever since I met him, he would take me to run of the mill buffets, and I was never happy with the Indian food served there. Until Biryani Express happened. This food IS Indian food. The food is amazing. It is not toned down for Americans (ok maybe a tiny bit but the spice is still very real). I was so ecstatic. Unfortunately for me, I have a crazy stomach ailment that doesn't let me eat unless I make sure it's once a day and I can't even eat that much. So, HUGE UNFORTUNATE TIMING for this place! I had some saag paneer, vegetable biryani, butter chicken, gobi manchurian (had never tried that before, it's delicious!) and onion pakora, and everything was PERFECT! So good! It reminded me of the Indian food my mom learned to make from her friend - straight up authentic, and not shy about spices. I knew I couldn't keep eating or else I'd get sick, but the taste of the saag paneer (mostly just the spinach part) made me want to just eat that forever. To comment on the service - so yeah, I can understand *some* of the complaints on here. It was my biggest worry coming in. The gentleman taking care of us, however, was very sweet. He didn't watch us like a hawk, but would gladly come over when my fiance asked him a question. We *did* have to ask for drinks, but he was glad to do it. Not what we are used to, having people ask us a million questions. But it wasn't a terrible experience. I suppose it's good to have someone who isn't shy with us. That being said, they keep 5 stars because they do clear the dirty dishes, and they did refill the waters on our table. Overall, I cannot recommend this place enough. I am very happy with the food from here, and you would not be disappointed at all. Stopped in after a Yelp search of the area. I was with my boss running a business-related errand. I didn't realize how spread out Pearland was (more on this later). We ordered the Pepper Chicken appetizer. He ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala and I got the chicken Malai Mathi Murgh. We also got the Garlic Naan (order came with 4 warm, buttery quarters) It's a great place to share plates. Everything we got complimented each other even though it was unintended. The place was very clean and the staff was very friendly. They wore rubber gloves to hand us anything that was brought to the table. Like many yelpers, my friends wanted to try this based on the high reviews. This place gets one star for parking because the lot is almost empty (not necessary a good sign). It was a Sunday around 1230pm. We drove up and parked in front of the restaurant, the business sign is small and the grocery mart sign next door overlooks it. Walking into the ma and pop's joint, they had about 7-8 tables? My friends wanted to try the buffet. For $12.95 per person, seriously Biryani Express only offered like 10 dishes and NO NAAN included in the buffet!!!! WHAT?!? That's absurd, an Indian buffet without naan? The first dish was fried spinach? Too greasy for me. The chicken biryani barely had any chicken, I only spotted about 6 chicken pieces in the large amount of rice on display. The chicken tikka Marsala was over cooked, I felt that it was spicy but didn't really had much flavor. The Marsala Paneer was also over cooked and tough. The goat curry tasted gamy. I can't remember the rest, all I remember that it wasn't any good. We ordered an additional 3 orders of naan and spinach paneer. The best thing at the restaurant wasn't even offered at the buffet, the garlic naan was the best. Oh my, what can I say about the service at Biryani Express?! We set our things down at the table and went to the buffet line to get food. Two people from our party went to order additional food at the registered. While ordering the food, they grabbed some canned sodas and asked if someone can bring us ice water. As we ate for about 10 mins, i mean it's a small place with barely anyone there, but still no one came with our waters. My friend waved down the cashier, talking to his coworker, that we still haven't received our water, the cashier nods his head and indicates he will. Another 8-10 mins passed, still no water. A worker brings out the additional foods that were ordered, my friend asked, " Did you forget our waters?". "Oh yeah" he replies and brings out water a few minutes later. It's a buffet, it's understood that dishes will piled up but was anyone around to pick it up? NOPE, so we just set our dirty dishes on the empty table next to our to have space for the new dishes. The flavor was great, but I'd have to agree with other reviewers - lots of rice and a few pieces of chicken. For the price expected more chicken. Quick and friendly service, good food and really convenient location! I didn't really know what to expect coming here right after the flood, but I was pleasantly surprised to see the place fill up. The place seems to cater to takeout, but there are enough tables and plenty of room for dining in. I didn't see any beer options, so they may not have an alcohol license. The portions were pretty good and we managed to take some home. Oddly enough, I think I'll steer away from the biryani next time as it was much too salty for my tastes. The food here is as authentic as true Indian food gets. The service is ok, they could use a host/ hostess to help navigate thru the menu, but we figured our way thru it. The flavor of the dishes we ordered was outstanding. The Fish Curry and the Dum Ka Chicken was delicious and packs enough heat to leave you wanting more. I tried Indian food for the first time with a friend in Jersey Village a few months prior and was really craving curry. Well, cravings satisfied. Got the goat korma, paneer tikka masala, and some naan. I was totally wowed by the flavor and couldn't believe I'd gone almost two decades without this delicious food in my life. Now when I come back, trying to choose what I want to order triggers a mini crisis--it's all to good to pass up! I'd recommend to anyone and everyone. Probably my new favorite restaurant. I often go here for the chicken puffs, chicken biryani and vegetable samosas. Food is fresh and it took them 15 minutes to get my order ready--mind you, it was for to-go. They have chicken puffs and samosas ready to go. The chicken puffs were basically puff pastry with chicken filling. I love biting into the flakiness however the puffs can get somewhat greasy but it didn't stop me from eating them. The vegetable samosas-potatoes, peas and spices- are spicy, my family cant handle it but i love it! The crust is seasoned well and not too thick, just perfect. read more
