Not a ton of food choices in Metamora, stopped in while in town for business. It doesn't look like much and is easy to miss, tucked in behind some kind of trucking company. When I showed up for lunch at noon, there was one car in the parking lot. Wasn't sure what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised. Very nice decor and clean on the inside, with a good menu and friendly service. The ham and cheese omelet I ordered was plenty big, and the hash browns were cooked right. Came over here from Peoria with my Dad when he came to visit recently. I had heard good things about the place and wanted to check it out for myself. I ordered the biscuits and gravy, with eggs, bacon, and hashbrowns. The biscuits and gravy were amazing. The gravy was flavorful and the put a ton of it on. The eggs were good and the bacon was great! Hashbrowns were good and were a much bigger portion than I was expecting for a side order. Also, got orange juice to drink and while it is $3, it has free refills, which is super rare for orange juice. My Dad got the challah french toast, which he said was very good and filling. Service was excellent and place was super clean. Only challenge was finding it, as it was a bit hidden. Well worth the trip from Peoria and the surrounding area. read more

Food was good but too expensive! 2.69 for a side of hash browns is ridiculous. They said they had a pastry tray (they didn't) but they did have homemade bagels. Go hiking at Black Partridge Park in the morning and then come here to carbo load for brunch! Huge portions, perfect hashbrowns, free flowing coffee, great service and of course B&G the way it should be. I had the corned beef hash and highly recommend! It's nestled in the back behind someone's house so don't let the road entrance fool you, you're in the right place. As of 8/8/20 they have limited indoor seating spaced out and plenty of outdoor seating under a covered awning. They keep Facebook up to date so check it for hours and seating options. read more

The fried chicken is the reason you want to be here. Biscuits and Gravy is a spot that opened on the faaar north side of Metamora (so far that my phone thought I was in Lowpoint). It's in a prefab warehouse-type building, but the inside still feels nice and homey. Once inside I got chicken and waffles, since it sounded good. I'll be honest; the presentation was a wee bit questionable, with butter in plastic tubs and served with breakfast syrup, not maple syrup. I guess it makes sense at $9 a plate, but real maple syrup would be nice. That said, the chicken was perfect. Crispy, a little bit of heat, _crispy_! Perfectly deep fried interior, and it was outstanding with the Belgian waffle (which is softer than you think it would be). Assuming I end up here next time, I'll be happy to get this again (although I remember my wife's biscuits and gravy being good as well.) read more

Nice farm to table resturant. The day i went they were a bit under staffed, but they were very good about letting you know things would be slow when you sat down. Skip the coffee it was just bad. I ordered the biscuits and gravy meal with 2 eggs over easy some sausage patties and hashbrowns. Everything was good except the gravy! It was just starchy and flavorless. The biscuit was fresh light and fluffy, but drowned in bad gravy so it was a loss. I was able to salage breakfast by moving my eggs and sausage onto the side of hashbrowns. The sausage patty was delicous, not sure why they did not use that grease to make the sauage gravy. I am not sure if the gravy is made per order, or if i just got a fresh batch. It may have not had time to season. Either way this is bad for a place called biscuits and gravy. I would give it one more try when at full staff as they seemed off. read more

The cardamon on the French toast asking with the wonderful bread elevated it to a level I didn't know it could be! Jaden was it waitress and she did an excellent job!! They had a Covid issue earlier in the year. This is my first visit since. I had the biscuits and gravy breakfast, which comes with eggs and bacon per the menu. The waitress who was very good ( I could tell she held back on rushing me) Asked if I wanted bacon or sausage. I chose sausage even though I thought I might be going a bit overboard. What a pleasant surprise. The patties had an interesting country flavor. She said the brand is Whole Hog. Really nice. The only bad thing I remember from before is the bathrooms there are freezing cold. The waitress told me heaters are coming. Man I hope so. I'll bring it up on all my planned future visits. This was a great breakfast, and I didn't mention that since the Covid issue, they have really cleaned, and it was spotless. It's been awhile too, so they are staying on it. Good for them. Great little restaurant in Metamora. It's hidden but worth looking for. My husband I went for lunch I had a delicious Cobb salad and he had the pork chop sandwich. It's was also good. Called for reservations, as we were taking my husbands 95 year old grandmother out for breakfast. When I called I was told we take reservations but you don't need them come in. Boy, thing must have gone down hill FAST! Once we arrived we waited for a table for about ten minutes and then decided to seat ourselves. As stated earlier my husbands grandma is 95 and uses a walker, hints reservations. Once seated, a gentleman came over handed us a menu and took our drink order. He came back with our drinks and said I will be right back for your order. Another 10 mins goes by and a lady comes by the table and states " oh we can't take orders right now we are backed up in the kitchen."Do not go to the restaurant if you want service. We made to 30 minute drive for breakfast. I had the harvest breakfast and hubby had the biscuits and gravy. Big servings for each of us. He said his was good but rather bland. First time at this spot. I'm a bit of a biscuit and sausage gravy snob. These folks have a good thing going. I had the B&G à la carte. The biscuit was very good, large, flaky, and well baked. 6 of us meet weekly for breakfast at different restaurants . We heard Biscuits n Gravy was great. We all met Sunday, April 3rd. Our waitress, a younger (teens-20s) blonde female was great. A taller redhead staff member was silent, rude, dismissive to our table. Slow to refill coffee, raised her voice to us when we requested a coffee refill. Our orders came out in pieces. 1 of us got his order first and in total. A 2nd guy got his toast and potatoes, then a few minutes after, he received his entree. 4 of us received our entrees, then 4 minutes later, our toast came out, then 3 minutes later our potatoes came out. 3 of our potato orders were not as requested, under cooked, not crispy as asked for, not even close. 1 omelette was very cool in center and meat appeared to be undercooked, he didn't eat a third of it. Some of our plates were bussed while we still eating. A large group came in while we were still eating and the redhead staff looked at out table repeatedly as if to say, get up and leave please. At that time, No waitress came back to refill our drinks and seated the large group on two tables on both sides of us. The large split up group did not order and I heard the redhead tell a customer, no worries, we'll get out soon. They sat and stared at us while staff ignored us. We didn't feel like we were welcome, felt rushed, Were bum rushed out. I can only guess Since we were not regulars, we were ignored and pushed out. This morning my future husband and I drove 45 minutes from Peoria to metamora for a hot,delicious breakfast at Biscuits and Gravy. The service was subpar to say the least. The conversation that was going on between the two young adults seemed far more important than making sure we had drink refills. The restaurant was not busy when we went. When we ordered,my future husband ordered the Reuben omelet. I ordered the biscuit and gravy breakfast. We weren't notified that the restaurant was out of corned beef til after he ordered the Reuben omelet. The reason for not mentioning it was, the waitress was still trying to wake up, because it was early. The young lady asked if he wanted seasonal fruit cup with his breakfast. He ordered it. What he received looked like a bowl of garnishes for a bar. Peel still left on the oranges, leaves and stem still left on the strawberries. Not my idea of seasonal fruit. When we mentioned it to the young lady about paying $3 for fruit with the peel intact,she simply said,that's just how we do it. I can mention it to the manager. The young lady didn't seem to care about the presentation of the fruit. The warmed white bread with artificial liquid butter,is not my idea of toast. When I took a bite of one of the biscuits, I got a mouthful of baking powder/ baking soda. Not pleasant! The young man came around to all the tables but ours to refill the coffee. We chose biscuits and gravy because my father gives this establishment rave reviews. We were definitely not impressed with our dining experience. For $23, I can make the same food at home.
