Corned beef hash with Swiss cheese, onions and two eggs over medium. Comes with a side of white or wheat toast.

Go hiking at Black Partridge Park in the morning and then come here to carbo load for brunch! Huge portions, perfect hashbrowns, free flowing coffee, great service and of course B&G the way it should be. I had the corned beef hash and highly recommend! It's nestled in the back behind someone's house so don't let the road entrance fool you, you're in the right place. As of 8/8/20 they have limited indoor seating spaced out and plenty of outdoor seating under a covered awning. They keep Facebook up to date so check it for hours and seating options.

    Chicken and Waffles!

The fried chicken is the reason you want to be here. Biscuits and Gravy is a spot that opened on the faaar north side of Metamora (so far that my phone thought I was in Lowpoint). It's in a prefab warehouse-type building, but the inside still feels nice and homey. Once inside I got chicken and waffles, since it sounded good. I'll be honest; the presentation was a wee bit questionable, with butter in plastic tubs and served with breakfast syrup, not maple syrup. I guess it makes sense at $9 a plate, but real maple syrup would be nice. That said, the chicken was perfect. Crispy, a little bit of heat, _crispy_! Perfectly deep fried interior, and it was outstanding with the Belgian waffle (which is softer than you think it would be). Assuming I end up here next time, I'll be happy to get this again (although I remember my wife's biscuits and gravy being good as well.)

This was one of the best breakfasts we've ever had! The biscuits and gravy were so amazing it gave me goose bumps! The cardamon on the French toast asking with the wonderful bread elevated it to a level I didn't know it could be! Jaden was it waitress and she did an excellent job!! We'll definately drive from Peoria to eat here again!!

    Small board and salads. Amazing!

I had the grilled chicken sandwich with fresh fruit. . The chicken came as ordered, plain, with a side of honey mustard. The fruit was also very fresh! Everything was very tasty! My friends ordered the tenderloin and unfortunately I can't remember my other friend's order. They did say the enjoyed the food and too home the extras to finish. I thought my server was wonderful. I am currently on a low salt diet and she did her best to accommodate my needs. After she found out the tenderloin only came breaded she checked to make sure that would be okay, which it wasn't, but helped me order something else. She also didn't charge me extra for the fruit since I was unable to have a side. The cafe was very busy, but not too noisy, except for maybe one person who was seated across from us. I cannot wait to return, I had an exceptional meal.

On thus trip I talked to the owner as I was paying and told him how good everything was and how far we drove and had to drive home. Oscar is his name and is a great guy. As I was paying he fiddled with the register and as he gave me my change he slipped me a gift card. I was kinda taken back a little and we talked a little more then I went back to the table to finish our coffee to get ready to leave. I got to say the staff here is spot on. Never did we want for anything. The food was great and coffee was delicious. So we pack up the kids and go out to the cars to transfer bags and luggage when I turn around and here comes Oscar the owner. Evidently I dropped the card he had given me. He came right out and we talked a little more to the point I feel we made new friends with each other. I totally recommend eating here. You won't be disappointed. Bring your kids and family and enjoy a great home style breakfast. It's great!

The name is quite a mouthful, but it definitely makes you curious enough to go inside and see what it's about. The interior is very grey and urban, with some fake flowers here and there. The menu is pretty large and has a lot of interesting-sounding options. After we looked through it for a minute, one of the waitresses brought us another menu saying, "Here's our special menu." It was mostly coffee drinks, which, unfortunately, didn't look particularly appealing to me. I ordered the Route 14 crepes, and apparently the name was quite challenging. The waitress asked me "What?" at least twice, so eventually I just pointed to it on the menu. Then she proceeded to write down my order by basically cheat-sheeting from my menu. Lol. My husband ordered one of the breakfast skillets. The food looked good when it arrived. But oh boy... My crepes were stuffed with mushrooms, onions, cheddar cheese, and spinach, topped with hollandaise sauce. The cheddar was melted and the spinach was fine. The crepes themselves actually tasted good. But the onions were raw and crunchy, and the mushrooms were so undercooked that they were rubbery and hadn't even been properly browned. The hollandaise was sprinkled with something that looked like paprika, although it smelled strongly of cinnamon, which was... interesting. When one of the waitresses asked how everything was going, I politely explained what was wrong with my dish. They apologized, said they would tell the kitchen, and offered to replace it. I declined because, honestly, I wasn't interested in taking the chance of getting the exact same thing again. I was perfectly willing to just finish what I could, pay, and quietly never come back. But then the waitress came back. And this time, instead of simply acknowledging the issue, she explained that next time I need to make sure to ask for my vegetables to be "well done." She also added that she always eats raw mushrooms. Soooo... am I supposed to order breakfast and specifically say, "Could you please make sure my vegetables are actually cooked?" I've never thought I needed to specify that mushrooms and onions should be cooked when ordering a breakfast dish. It felt like I had to take responsibility for the kitchen not properly cooking the ingredients in the first place. That second conversation honestly upset me more than the food itself. I had already accepted the situation and wasn't demanding anything. But being told that it was essentially my mistake for not ordering the vegetables correctly was not something I expected. The total was $36 for two meals and one regular coffee. The food had potential, and my crepes themselves were actually tasty. But unfortunately, the experience -- especially the way the complaint was handled -- was enough for me to decide that I won't be coming back.

Review Visit: February 10th, 2020…read more Eli's has opened a coffee shop in Metamora on some historic grounds. A long, long time ago in a city far away, there was a coffeehouse named Historic Grounds. Upon those grounds, one was able to find delicious coffees and baked goods. As time passed, people grew older and wanted to retire to a simple life. With that, Historic Grounds became just that. A page in the history books of Metamora. But, all was not lost for the building that was permanently etched with the aromatic scents of coffee beans and cookies. Eli's Coffee House, founded out of Morton, IL, caught wind of the vacancy and decided to expand it's business enterprise there. Finally the day came for me to visit one of my old coffeehouses and see if the new place does the old justice. Having had Eli's before and it being a good experience, I went in with some slightly higher than normal expectations for a new place. The second I entered, I could tell that Eli's made the place their own without covering up the antique-feel of the aged building. In place of the old normal counter was a big jetting one that offered barista access from multiple sides. Affixed to the wall was a giant and well-designed menu offering coffees in your usual varieties along with some yummy-sounding food options. Running on 3 hours of sleep, I chatted with the ladies working behind the counter, telling them of my much-needed need for some coffee if I was going to be in any state of awake to talk with my friend. Their patience was immeasurable as I looked over the menu longer than I should've and settled on just a black coffee. Too tired to try and order anything more complex, they offered me the pipping hot coffee in an Eli's-branded mug. I found my friend on the other side of the wall that cuts the coffeehouse in almost two. I quickly took a seat and blew on my coffee to cool it down while I woke up enough to have a conversation with my friend. Sensing one cup wouldn't do, I revisited the counter after I drained my first cup and expected to pay for a refill. The lovely barista took my cup and refilled it with the black liquid I so desired. I asked if I owed her anything and she said it was free. Free refills on great black coffee. I was truly in heaven. Eli's has taken a former great coffeehouse and kept the spirit alive. While they've definitely added their identity to the interior, they are tasteful upgrades and changes. Metamora is the kind of town that revels in it's history and small town vibe; them keeping a lot of the original feel and artwork on the walls was a wise decision. They even kept the Historic Grounds logo that is painted on the side wall. While I was standing in line for my refill, I was browsing over the food options and was drawn to The Southern Comfort melt. I loved every single ingredient on the list. Chicken with melted white cheddar, apples and brown sugar BBQ... give me 2 of those. One for lunch and one for dinner later. So, I will definitely be back to try out their food and baked goods. When I do, I will update this post with probably a perfect 5/5 and details on how the food tasted. Until then, stay caffeinated.
