It was hard to believe the restaurant wasn't more busy on a Saturday night considering that everything was superb. The food was outstanding and the service was perfect. We visited for the wedding of a family member. The main course was steak. Despite the family paying the high price for that option, the restaurant didn't give options for doneness. Instead, they burnt the LIVING DAYLIGHTS out of the poor cow. Absolutely grey all the way through, dry as a bone, gross. Also, it took quite a while to get everyone their meals. Definitely needed more staff. While waiting for our food, we asked for more rolls. The server told us that they didn't have any extra. At all. Each person in the room only got one. Come on folks, rolls couldn't cost more than $0.03. Pros - the bartenders were incredibly happy and friendly. They must not eat the food. Their brunch used to be amazing---do not bother. Metamora Fields Sunday brunch has always been a treat when we drive over from Peoria. Was disappointed to hear it was only being served the 1st Sunday of the month. This brunch should be discontinued. The selections were not refilled---some of them never. No hash brown casserole, the biscuits were never refilled--although there was gravy, the eggs were cold, only one small platter of one type of pastry, beef cutting station only had a small overcooked piece of beef. None of the desserts were home made and just OK. Why have an empty chaffing dish sitting there, labeled with a sign. and never have anything in there? Take the dish away! P.S. Our server was sub-par also. He only had to bring drinks and he was very slow. He said there was something wrong with the iced tea maker so the tea was very very weak. read more

Had one of nicest dining experiences of the summer. Met friends on a Saturday night, and all 4 of us were raving about the food and the decor. We watched the sunset from the beautiful deck overlooking the golf course. You've got to try their Filet Meat Loaf, yes I said Filet. It's a huge surprise. Well, the fried green beans were good... I ordered the 8oz filet - Medium. It came out like a 4oz rock. I sent it back, and I NEVER send anything back. I've seen the movie 'Waiting' and I know better. The staff were very nice and apologetic for this, but everyone at my table finished their meal before my re-do was brought to me. So, then they tried to recover again and offer a free dessert. I chose the creme brûlée (my favorite) - IT. WAS. HORRIBLE. The custard was dry and the burnt sugar crust was mushy. The only way that happens is that they are serving OLD FOOD. Save yourself the time. DON'T GO. Consider yourself warned. read more

Great dinner! I had the 9 oz prime rib. Wonderfully seasoned and juicy! My wife had the Ahi Tuna. A large portion and delicious! We also had an appetizer, Spicy Tuna Nachos... Wow!!! Add a couple $2 drafts each and it was wonderful! 2 sides and a salad for both of us were included...$65. Well worth it. You could get by cheaper and still have great food! read more

We had our wedding there and.. All I can say is PERFECT!!! Lisa, their events coordinator, was a dream to work with!! She knew her stuff and was beyond supportive in every aspect. She made the whole process so stress free and enjoyable. She even ran to Subway for us the day of our wedding. You're the best Lisa!!! As for the venue, absolutely breath taking! So gorgeous inside and out. Everyone loved all the food and the hour derives were HUGE!! No one left hungry! I cannot say enough good things about Metamora Fields. We attended on Easter April 1st, although the food was good the selections were terrible. There were no potatoes, no au gratin, no scalloped, not even instant mashed. There were no green beans for the ham and salads were just as scarce. The desserts were just as much of a joke, when I saw the slice of pecan pie on the plate it was so small I could not tell if it really was apiece of pie or if the plate was just dirty. The buffet we enjoyed was at best a $12 meal not the $28 we were charged. The good part is we have six weeks to find a Mothers Day buffet worthy of our business. Disappointing experience with mediocre service and food. Although we were a larger group there Were very few other diners. There were 2 servers for our 4-5 tables. Food at the same table came 20-30 minutes apart with no explanation or apology. Some people waited over an hour for their food. Salad plates were not bussed and drinks were not refilled or refreshed. There were 16 people who played golf and 24 for dinner so a fair amount of money was spent, however many will not return. read more

RUN AWAY!!! Horrible service, a 20 year old General Manager has no clue on what he is doing. A lady who walks around barking orders while you are setting up for your event. They will tell you what they will and will not do and will allow no room for you to create what you want. They will say yes take your money and on the day of the event inform you on all of the things you are not allowed to do as far as decor. The food is always served cold. We eat at the fields often and have great food 95% of the time which is good for most restaurants. Service can be slower if there is a banquet upstairs. Try the filet meat loaf or the Philly cheesesteak egg rolls... They are great!! read more

Attended a business lunch at Metamora fields. I ordered the tenderloin with waffle fries for $10. Worst tenderloin I ever had. It was way overcooked....fried to a dark brown. It was dry, chewy and tasteless. The waffle fries were good but that was it. There were about 18 of us and it took forever to get our food but everything came out hot so no complaints there. The service was good....glasses kept full. I wasn't impressed with the menu so I probably won't go back. read more

We tried this 3 times. In a quiet dining room it took us over an hour to get 1 hot entree served cold (shrimp ravioli!) and a piece of prime rib tough as rawhide the last time there. I mean that, that is the last time we are going. It is not run by restaurant professionals and was as more inept after 4 months than in the first months. We were not alone. A family with wonderfully patient kids seated earlier than us sent back cheeseburgers after a similar wait. No cheese and cold fries which arrived after the adult meals. The kitchen must have been off that night. They comped about everyone, including us, but not the couple who ordered only fried appetizers which seemed to appear instantly. The damage was done. There were more managers and the senior owner running about (food & beverage/banquet/golf/operations, 5 people) who were friendly but clueless. It missed the mark on food quality and timely service. It is a nice setting with potential but not worth a trip back. 2 stars is generous. read more
