    Original Jack's salad
    Lou M.

Been wanting to try this place and finally today for lunch stopped in. The restaurant wasn't too busy at all for a Tuesday early afternoon. I thought overall the menu looked pretty good and the restaurant was very clean and nice inside. I ordered the original Jack's salad which to be honest was very very good minus the fact that it came with two little of dressing and unfortunately, my waiter disappeared for the entire meal so I couldn't get more dressing given to me. Disappointed for sure. That would be my biggest issue today. I also feel over lunch periods places should know that most people try to come and go for lunch quickly, but I couldn't do that today due to the waiter disappearing. So, I did finish my salad though the second half of it wasn't as tasty as the first half due to not enough dressing again. I guess I'll give this place a try again at some point but as a first experience, I have to give it a half par rating.

Ambiance was nice, but yes, the music was thumping. Service was good except once we paid, we never got our requested receipt. Some food was good, but the biscuits and gravy was EXTREMELY salty. Eggs were cooked as requested. Biscuits were not completely cooked through, they were doughy.

We are obsessed with this fairly new dining spot near Shoppes of Grand Prairie. We have eaten here numerous times, everything is so delicious and beautifully presented that we try to order something new every time. We haven't been disappointed yet. The fig tree omelette is so far my favorite. We always dine at the bar, Brooke is fabulous, so friendly and makes great mimosas. The place is gorgeous, clean, roomy with huge windows. They close at 3 so get in early. Al around perfect dining experience

If you're seeking a breakfast that combines elegance with comfort, the Salmon Benedict is a must-try. This dish features perfectly poached eggs atop a toasted English muffin, layered with rich smoked salmon, and smothered in a velvety hollandaise sauce. The addition of capers and fresh dill adds a delightful burst of flavor, making each bite a harmonious blend of textures and tastes. Beyond the Salmon Benedict , the waffles , the pancakes were all amazing!!! The ambiance of the restaurant enhances the dining experience, with friendly staff and a cozy atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. Whether you're starting your day or enjoying a leisurely brunch, this establishment offers a memorable breakfast experience

This is a photo of when they told me my food was ready. And they brought to me at 7:45.

Several minutes went by, and I just happened to look up after I placed my order. I observed one of the cooks wipe his nose, and went back to cooking WITHOUT washing his hands !!!. I got the server's attention, informed her of what occurred, canceled my order, and asked to speak with a supervisor or manager. I was able to speak with an older woman with a slavic accent. When I informed her of what I clearly observed, she literally told me that " It was no big deal" !!!.I literally could not believe her response, and that I then informed her that I was going to file an immediate complaint with the health department, to which she responded with "so what ?". I did file the complaint 10 minutes later, and recieved a quick response. Imagine what else is going on ??? I will NEVER, EVER patronize this restaurant ever again !!!

She recommended the Cuban Pulled Pork Sandwich. My sandwich was huge and contained a large portion of pulled pork meat. It was delicious and the homemade chipotle bbq mayo made it all the more satisfying with its rich smoky flavor! The Cuban-style black beans were right out of Miami! Very nicely prepared and included green peas, carrots, corn, and bell peppers, as well. My dining companion, for her part, ordered the Falafel platter, with a side order of gyro meat. The falafel (a dozen), were fresh, tasty, and just the right consistency. These were served with lettuce, onions, tomatoes, pita, and hummus. The side order of gyro meat featured a generous portion of decadently succulent lamb shavings and included two portions of homemade tzatziki sauce. Everything we ate was prepared to perfection and could easily compete with exceptional restaurants in Chicago! Yes, the food at One World is that good. As for the service, our waitress Quincy was friendly and professional. As for the ambiance and decor--we arrived ahead of the lunch crowd, so it was pretty quiet. The decor, however, is nicely done. The premises were clean and well maintained. Ditto the restrooms. The restaurant is actually huge. There are multiple dining areas and in the summer there is an outside patio behind the restaurant, as well. As for pricing and affordability--quality costs, and the food here is definitely a cut above. That being said, the owners have priced the entrees quite reasonably considering the generous portion-size and quality of the food. My overall opinion? If you want a dining experience worthy of comparison to the best Chicagoland has to offer, but don't want to make the long drive--or pay twice as much--then I highly recommend this little gem of a locally-owned restaurant in Peoria!

I got the thai chicken pizza and it was SO good. The hot honey was a little sweeter than I expected, however the jalepeno balanced it well. The hummus also was hands down one of the best I have ever had. Still thinking about it. The only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars was the service. Everything was fine until it came to pay. I don't know if our server disappeared or something but we waited 30-45 minutes to get our check which was semi-frustrating. Anyways, 10/10 food. Very unique. Very different. I recommend!!!

Review Visit: October 28th, 2014…read more If you are a diner aficionado, do not confuse yourself. Yes, there is two diners in Illinois that have nearly the same name. This one is THE 50's Diner located in Peoria, IL and the other is THAT 50's Diner in Dwight, IL. The similarities do not end there. They are both themed from the 1950s. They have a big love of Elvis and other 1950's stuff decorating the diner. That's about where it ends. Matt, Tim, and I rolled up on a sunny autumn afternoon for some nostalgic trip. Not that we were alive in the 50's but it is always fun to visit a place themed after a time period one isn't alive for. I am still waiting for someone to open a Cafe 80's modeled after the one from Back to the Future II. This diner was screaming 50's from the moment we walked in. Black and white color scheme for the seating. 50's decor and memorabilia lining the walls and counters. A menu that screams styling from the time. But none of that matters in the end. It's the food. The menu emhpasizes the Loosey Sammich and that is just what I ordered. While looking over the menu, I did notice they served curly fries, which seems like a rarity outside of Hardee's/Carl Jrs. The diner wasn't busy so our server was timely and our food was delivered after a short while. The food was served in those plastic baskets with wax paper (but sometimes served on plates). To me, I enjoy food being delivered in those things. Why, only foggy childhood memories can explain. The food was dropped in front of us and the Loosey sandwich was... not appealing. I'm not sure what I was expecting but it if you've read enough of these blog posts, you know I save my judgment for how it tastes, not how it looks. Chomp. Chomp. A few bites in and my mouth ran in to dryness without flavor to cover it up. The sandwich was somehow disappointing despite being their signature sandwich. I am going to guess that the meat was sitting in a warmer and dried out. Ah, what a bummer. The fries were good, at least. I've been back a few times with my friend Maria for random breakfasts and lunches and the food from those visits mirrored my first experience here. Bland. Not to say the food is awful or should be avoided, but don't expect anything to make you crave coming back time and time again. But, on the other hand, maybe you'll love the place. Don't let me bland experience deter you from checking it out. Maybe my taste buds are compatible with the 50's. Ah, but this isnt the end of this blog. Nope, one little thing left to talk about. There is a store that takes up the right side of The 50's Diner. Yes, you heard it here. A store. I've browsed the merchandise for sale and I am not sure if this store is a consignment-based or what. The assortment of items is rather eclectic. There's novelty candy, jewelry, random clothes, and other odds and ends. It kind of makes visiting here exciting because you just never know what they will have on sale.

Ryan was my waitress, and she was hands down one of the best servers I've ever had. Her customer service was truly top tier. She came by right away, introduced herself, and brought me both coffee and water. Instead of spending time looking over the menu, I told her exactly what I was in the mood for, and she went above and beyond by creating the perfect combo for me. I ordered eggs, sausage, hash browns, and blueberry pancakes. Ryan told me all about their homemade blueberry syrup, that it was made fresh from scratch daily and wow, she wasn't kidding, it was great! The food was fresh, delicious, and full of flavor. There were fresh blueberries not only in the pancakes but also in the syrup, which made the meal even better. The restaurant itself was also really nice, very open and spacious, with plenty of seating. Even if all the tables were filled, there was still more than enough room to walk around comfortably. I also loved the festive touch of the Christmas tree right inside the restaurant; it made the space feel warm and welcoming. While it was a little on the pricey side for one person, the quality of the food and the overall experience was great. What impressed me the most, though, was how kind, genuine, and attentive Ryan was throughout my visit. She truly made the experience memorable and as far as I'm concerned she's the best waitress you have! I was happy to let her know that she was going above and beyond, y'all better hold on to her! There's even an option to pay at the table if you're in a hurry which is a cool feature! I will definitely be back!
