I loved my shrimp and grits! Nice kick, large shrimp. I also got a half order of the biscuits and gravy. Fluffy biscuits and gravy was not too salty. We had a girl in our group born and raise in the south who was pumped for biscuits.........this was not a biscuit hahahah. I don't know what box these came from but it was awful. It was overpriced for food I could've made better at home. They could've at least made a decent presentation on the plate or something but my friend literally just got a breakfast burrito on a plate. No home fries no toast, the damn thing wasn't even wrapped in tin foil. It look so sad and lame. This biscuit was not flakey. Not warm. Not buttery. It was cold and rock hard and dry. This is so good!The chicken is cooked perfectly and the biscuits are fluffy and delicious with a gravy.Their homemade cinnamon are fluffy with the perfect pair of icing.The waffles were fluffy and had a generous helping of whipped cream and berries (if you get with berries) On the other hand the breakfast wrap was a bit too eggy and it could use a little more meat.The bacon there was a little chewy for my taste but was cooked perfectly.Overall this was a great place for a family breakfast! I mean, this place is called "Biscuits." Even if it were to serve awful food, that name would be worth at least two stars alone. Luckily, the food here is good enough to warrant its own bounty of stars. Went here for breakfast on a recent day trip to MV (oh, how New Englander-breezy I sound!). It was a little after 10:00 on a Friday morning in August, so there was definitely a queue building up outside (this place is pretty small, so the line forms on the stairs/ramp outside). We put our names on the list for a table and were told it'd be a 15 minute wait, but about two minutes later they called us in. Our table was in the middle of the main room of Biscuits (oh, wow, "room of biscuits"... going to my happy place now), and with the waitstaff hopping to and fro around us carrying towering plates of chicken-and-waffles and pancakes and eggs and whatnot, it was a little like eating in the middle of Grand Central Station... only pleasant and with more old-timey signage on the walls. I got a good ol' Western omelet with a biscuit and homefries, which were actually more like entire little potatoes. The omelet was sufficient if not mind-blowing, but the fries were crispy, spicy bites of awesomeness and the biscuit was melt-in-your mouth heavenly. My dining companion got a biscuit, grits, and a crab cake, and she also had good reports for everything. The total for the two of us came to about $17 with food and beverages, which really isn't bad for a super tourist-popular island joint. One of the great things about coming to Martha's Vineyard in September is this: no lines at Biscuit. We came here for breakfast on a blustery and cool morning to a nearly empty restaurant and seated ourselves by the window. Soon we had beautiful plates of their famous biscuits and gravy in front of us, served along with scrambled eggs, some bacon and home fries. It was a heavy meal, no doubt about it but it was so good. The biscuits are creamy and just melt in your mouth along with the gravy. There's something about this place- maybe the way the wait staff smile at you slyly knowing you're trying the biscuits for the first time and you will become addicted, or the locals sitting nearby greedily devouring their plates without the throngs of tourists getting in their way. Man. I need to pay attention. How in the heck did I miss this place! Biscuits has one of the best breakfasts around. They have the Biscuits breakfast with two huge biscuits, two eggs any style, their version of home fries which are awesome. It also comes with you choice of meat. I have yet to be able to finish this breakfast because it's so much food. The other food choices all look great too including the old chicken and waffles and steak and eggs. I can't imagine how good that must be. The place is small so be patient and prepared to wait 20 minutes for a table if you get there after 9am on weekends. The owner makes a point to say hello to everyone and help out the waitstaff when it's busy. The restaurant is clean and is located in downtown Oak Bluffs next to a moped rental shop. Sparsely decorated, nice music playing. Menu is just ok, and for a place that is named "Biscuits," you'd expect the biscuits to be really great. However, they're dry and underwhelming. The server was beyond rude and argumentative. I asked for Hollandaise sauce on the side for my eggs benedict (one poached egg was slimy raw, the other cooked perfectly) and the sauce came in a little plastic, obviously pre-filled cup. It was ICE COLD, so I tried to send it back for something a little warmer. The waitress explained to me that the sauce is supposed to be cold, and heats up when you pour it over the eggs. Though I have never heard of this process, I acknowledged the information and just asked if she could warm it up for me. She again explained it is supposed to be served cold, then warmed up by the eggs, and will break down if heat is applied in any other fashion. She would not even consider accommodating my request, yet had no problem wasting time arguing with me and being condescending, ignorant, and confrontational. In conclusion, perhaps this IS the proper way to serve Eggs Benedict. However, I frequently order Eggs Benedict with the sauce on the side, and it ALWAYS comes warmed. I never pour it over my eggs, I dip in a few bites, or spoon it over individual bites. I have ordered this very dish from Massachusetts, to Tennessee, to my cruise ship sailing over the Carribean Sea, and have NEVER been served cold Hollandaise Sauce. This establishment has a healthy reputation for great cuisine. I'd offer that the food is southern comfort, but not great - it's very good - tasty if you please. It's reminiscent of southern styled biscuits and gravy. I had biscuits n gravy, with soft scrambled eggs (perfection - no brown/scortch), and home fries (small whole potoes cooked inside the skin with seasoning on top) - not my version of southern home fries (chopped peppers, onions, etc.). I think my expectations was too high. I didn't even get a 2nd cup of coffee... I will add that the wait staff was extremely attentive to my needs and wants; and although there is usually a line, it moves along at a good pace. Check in with the host upon arrival. This was one of the places that seemed to be great for breakfast/lunch when you get to the Vineyard at 10 am or so. Not so much! There were four of us. We put in our names and waited 25 minutes for a table. (BYW, they won't seat you unless your whole party is there when they call your name.) We ordered pretty general breakfast food from the menu including a daybreak special and a breakfast wrap. 30 minutes later it became clear that something it happened with our order. So we finally flagged down the waiter and said what about our order? He looked completely confused and then said oh your food will be coming shortly. We then watched as it was clear he had forgotten to put in our order and the manager of the restaurant had noticed our interchange. We received our food in very short order after that with multiple people coming to our table saying do you ladies have it you need? The manager came and apologized for the delay. My meal was not what I asked for, in particular the eggs were not cooked the way I asked. Also, the food was just ok, with the exception of the home fries. They were great! Everyone else's meal was good. I would've thought that that kind of a mistake and delay would have earned us at least some discount on the price, but NO. Blechhhh. They made a breakfast sandwich with extremely dry biscuits and the consistency was terrible. They only put one egg and one piece of bacon in it, so all I could taste was the biscuit. Also, worst iced coffee I've ever had in my life. Just tasted like iced water. read more

We tried Biscuits for the first time this morning because our favorite bartender Alex from the Barn also works there. The service was excellent (of course because it's Alex!) and the food was delicious. The biscuits and linguica hash stole the show. Great service, they tried hard to accommodate our group of 9 on a Sunday morning. The interior is lacking any real style or taste. My wife and I had a delicious breakfast here yesterday. The biscuits are amazing! But I really just wanted to give the staff credit for handling a bizarre and ridiculous situation with a ton of class. I'm guessing they started going takeout during Covid and have kept it up even with the restaurant being back to full capacity, and it's probably just too much at this point. As a result, there was a mix of people waiting outside either for a table or to get takeout. The place was swamped. One of the staff came out to get a party to bring to their table. As they're going through the door, a woman (probably late thirties-ish) who has been waiting a while for takeout quickly asked the person if she could check on her order. An older woman (probably 60s) in the party snaps at her and says she's being rude, they are short-staffed, blah blah. The younger woman is totally taken aback, and rightfully so. She's clearly upset. A few minutes later she gets her food and is on her way. About 15 minutes later the younger woman walks into the restaurant and we're like oh god after the long wait they messed up her order, oh nooo. Not the case. She has come back to the restaurant to ID the older woman for her wife who is outside and PISSED. The wife comes into the restaurant and assaults the older woman at her table! She is in her face, physically intimidating her and telling her that she's a trash person. The staff calmly gets this lunatic and the older lady outside to hash it out. Then the wife literally blocks the entrance to the restaurant so the woman can't go back in (or let this poor innocent bystander leave!) The wife is trying to goad this old lady into a fistfight (wife would have been a MASSIVE favorite). This goes on for a good 10 minutes, with the wife ranting about how people need to be kind to one another, apparently not realizing that holding a restaurant full of people and their biscuits hostage is not exactly sending kindness into the world. All the while the poor hostess, who is like 5 feet tall and looks like she's 15 years old, is trying to make sure people have their water and coffee topped off. Eventually the staff is able to calm down the wife (the $50 gift card helped) and restore order. We were super impressed with everyone on the staff and how they handled the whole ordeal. Kudos to you all! The older woman thought she was helping the staff by throwing in her own commentary when someone just wanted an update on their order. Totally unnecessary. The younger woman going into the restaurant to point out someone who was rude was incredibly out of line. The wife trying to pick a fight with anyone, let alone an elderly woman, all while going on about "kindness" was pathetic. If you want to be kind, say "please" and "thank you," hold doors, smile, and over-tip. We will be back :) read more

The food is amazing here. We waited outside for 15 minutes as tables were getting ready (it's a pretty small place) but the waitress was very polite and friendly. The food came out relatively fast considering how busy it was and was probably the best breakfast I've had in a long time. I got the Spanish omelet with homefries and a biscuit with gravy. The homefries were whole baby red potatoes, super crispy and delicious, the omelet was extremely flavorful and the perfect size and the biscuits and gravy were to die for. Other than that, though the waitress was really nice, she could have been a little more attentive. She never refilled our drinks and I had to remind her more than once that a needed something. I came here last year and loved my experience. The food was great and the service was as well. This year , because of Covid this place is only doing take out. Which is the case for a lot of restaurants on the vineyard but none are as rude and careless as Biscuits. We ordered 2 strawberry salads with no feta cheese . I heard my wife say "two of the exact same salad" on the phone. When we picked the food up, one salad had feta cheese on it. We asked for another salad without feta cheese , and when it was sent back to the kitchen we literally heard someone from the kitchen yell "F***" . We also had to listen to the employee tell his boss that we did NOT ask for no feta on both salads which is just a flat out lie. Customer service 101... the customer is always right , ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY REALLY ARE. I've never felt more uncomfortable and like more of a burden than I have today. read more

Throughly enjoyed our breakfast here! We both got the biscuit and gravy plate with eggs, home fries and sausage. I'm very particular about my eggs - I need them cooked bone dry and browned with no excess moisture. Most places don't come close to that when ordering out but Biscuits NAILED it! I was so happy. My husband on the other hand ordered his eggs over easy and to him they were a perfect runny egg to mix with his potatoes. We would definitely return next time in the island! read more

We took the Ferry to Martha's vineyard and this place was conveniently located next to the bus tour so we decided to give it a try. The staff was nice and friendly. Food came out quickly. I ordered fried chicken.. Don't know why but I just felt like it that day. The quality of the food is just okay. Nothing too special. If you're visiting Martha's vineyard like I did, I would encourage you to try something else that serves local food (lobster roll, oysters, crab cakes, etc). Went here with my family and it was the WORST restaurant experience i have had in a while. We put in our names and recurved confirmation that we will wait 45 minutes. We then waited around 30 minutes and checked in only to find out wait GREW. they said people had left and came back (wayyyyyy after there allotted time to eat). so the 20 or so people in line had to be pushed to THE BOTTOM of the list just because people didn't know how to wait their allotted time and not show up up to 30 minutes after they were supposed to eat. After a horrible experience at lobsterville (don't go) biscuits was a refreshing start to the day. There is always a line outside for breakfast and brunch on the weekend but waiting 20 minutes is well worth it. The biscuit breakfast was delicious especially the sausage gravy. I wouldn't recommend the bacon cakes as they are just a pancake with a strip of bacon in it and aren't the best I've ever had. The service was impeccable and the staff friendly and knowledgable. Came on a Tuesday morning and we were seated immediately! The staff was extremely kind, the service was fast, and the food was absolutely incredible! I ordered the biscuits breakfast and my boyfriend ordered the linguisa hash and both were delicious. We even spilled a water, and within five seconds a waitress was there with napkins and more water for us. I love breakfast! I got the biscuits and Gravy that came with sausage and order eggs which was very good. my daughter got chesse grits which she loved. my husband had gotten the shrimp and grits that he loved even though they don't offer the grits with no cheese which my husband is lactose but wanted to try it anyway. But when he asked for the bathroom they don't have one and said he needed to go across the street which he couldn't find one. When we were there one of the waitresses daughter came in and it made it fell more homey which I loved. the only down side which really isn't a problem for me is they usually always have a wait because its a small location. read more
