Simple, quick place for breakfast and lunch that doesn't disappoint right near the Oak Bluffs Marina. I had the chicken sausage biscuit (amazing!) and then split a banana-stuffed French toast with my husband... because, hey, vacation. It was sublime. When I arrived on the island I noticed the lines to eat at Biscuits we're out the door. The restaurant opens at 7 am. I highly recommend that you get there as close to opening as possible. I arrived around 7:30 am and was still okay. Seating is open. I was welcomed by several friendly staff and the music is awesome! I ordered a bacon, egg and cheese biscuit with a side of cheese grits and coffee. The food came out quickly and was cooked well, but was just okay. The biscuit itself was soft, but I wasn't the best I ever had. Around 8 am it became super busy and I became the forgotten customer. My original server disappeared and another hurried me out. I would like to add that they do not have a bathroom. Apparently since the restaurant seats less than 50 people they are not required to have one (I was informed by one of the waitresses in the front when I inquired). read more

We really enjoyed our breakfast here this morning. We walked in around 9:15 which seemed like perfect timing because soon after there was a line out the door. Although the food was good, I did get the wrong order. I actually ordered the cod cake Benedict, but received the other one instead (I forget the name, but it's like regular eggs Benedict). I was a little pressed for time so I didn't bother sending it back, but it was great nonetheless. I really really really loved the potatoes. They were whole potatoes with crispy skin and a nice seasoning on top. It was a nice change to typical home fries. Also, you should go to the bathroom before going here because they don't have one. Great food, great service, great staff, great atmosphere. I went in today for a late breakfast (served until 4). It was just myself and few other customers. As I sat down I noticed that the owner was celebrating his birthday. Very low key, with his staff and a few family members. I was waiting for my food to come out when I heard the birthday boy asking customers if they'd like a piece of cake. Sure enough "what about you, would you like a piece of cake?" I had high hopes for Biscuits, probably because it looks like the kind of place where the staff focuses on quality. They'd need to, given the short season and about 7 tables. Right, that means you will be standing in line at peak hours, but the weather is often good and our group was not in a hurry. The usual breakfast fare and it was good, but nothing special (with one exception). "Peach pancakes" were just ordinary pancakes with canned peaches poured on top. Breakfast potatoes were good but not singular. Service was friendly but erratic (not unusual for a summer place). But they have one unusual specialty - Linguica hash. First time for me and I thought it was terrific, but it made everything else look even more ordinary. Prices are very reasonable. Filthy, unsanitary and unhealthy! This establishment has no bathroom for customers, employees wipe down chairs and clean tables with the same dirty rags which are carried in their back pockets. The menus are filthy, so we were told that we could wash our hands in a sink behind the wait stand. GO HERE. PERIOD. The man who runs the place is amazing. He runs a tight ship. Figuratively and literally. The place is SUPER small. That being said I don't know anyone who minds and I have never heard anyone complain. Get there early or you will be waiting for a table. But the owner gets people in and out full and satisfied. It's so worth any wait because the service is wonderful and the food is great! Every time I'm on the island I go there. If I could go every single morning I would. He treats everyone with the same respect no matter who they are. And the music is ALWAYS ON POINT. My mother and I enjoy the music so much. Such a great way to start the day. Pancakes were so fluffy and tasty. I definitely enjoyed my food here and wished I would've eaten breakfast here before anywhere else. There's no indoor dining now, but we were able to take our food back to our hotel and eat on the porch. Service was also fast. read more

Brunch place just a few blocks from the Oak Bluffs ferry stop. Once you walk down the street you can see a line out of the door so I knew this would be a good place to eat. It had a wide variety of breakfast items and good portions were served. It's in a touristy area so be ready for a wait but it will be worth it. read more

Worth the wait in line. I'm from Texas but live in Boston. It's impossible to find good biscuits and sausage gravy. Go figure, they have it on the vineyard. I have to eat here every time I'm in oak bluffs! Do yourself a favor, get the biscuits and gravy. Add two eggs over easy and just dump them on the plate. Heaven!! read more

Expect to wait longer than the time they initially tell your party. I arrived with a party of 4 and put in a reservation thinking we would get in in about 35/40 minutes but we didn't sit down until 1 hour and 20 minutes later. There is no bathroom so when we were waiting for our food I had to run across the street to use the public restroom. The shrimp and grits was AMAZING so it justified the wait for a table. Both waitresses were jaded, nasty and miserable and clearly should not be working with customers anywhere. Mornings are definitely not for these bitter women and they should find another line of work.. Outstanding food. The biscuits are very good as the name implies...probably the best I have had in the north...and yes, I used to live in the south. However...had to drop a star for service. I did take out. With a line out the door, I expected to wait a bit for my small to go order, naturally. However, when they tell you to wait outside they need to actually bring it out when they say they will. The woman claimed they came out and said my name multiple times; which they clearly didn't being that I was standing next to the front door the entire time. Visited Martha's Vineyard for the first time this weekend and this was the first breakfast place we found. The super friendly host told us it was the best breakfast on the island and since I have nothing to compare it to, for now, I'll say that's it's true! I got the Biscuit breakfast which consisted of two eggs, home fries (whole, tender, delicious potatoes) and biscuit with gravy. It was delicious! The biscuit was nice and fluffy and the serving of gravy was generous. My friend got a veggie omelet that she enjoyed very much as well. Also, the guy that was doubling as the host/waiter/friendly greeter...someone please give him a raise. Don't let the slightly third-world décor deter you -- Biscuits is a stealth soul-food diner in the middle of Oak Bluffs that serves fantastic food. The best place for breakfast in OB by far. I eat here as often as I can when I'm visiting. The food is delicious and (unusual for MV) not expensive. The eponymous biscuits are great, but so are the extra-crispy home fries. Haven't had a bad meal yet. read more

It hurts me to have to only give Biscuits two stars. I've been coming since 2010 when they opened on the Vineyard. I was always excited to come to this place and they were so good that I looked forward to it every year but since that first dining experience. Now it has become just okay. For a place called 'Biscuits" I should never receive a cold one and eggs soft does not mean runny and undercooked. Horrible and it made me sad because as I said before I really liked this place. And there are very few places that give you a true southern eating experience on the Vineyard. And one of my biggest pet peeve is when you call a party and all of the party is not there, giving them 5 tries while others wait is uncalled for in my opinion (and it was two groups of people). They would just move behind the people that are there and when the entire party is there then they could possibly be seated. Sorry if you can't all be there then you should not be given the opportunity over and over. I am hoping when I come back to the Vineyard next year it has gotten back to what it used to be becuase I really enjoyed this place when it first opened. read more

Took over. 20 minutes and then arrived cold after asking another waitress for it. The manager was not very accommodating whatsoever.
