Found Bishops right next to Mudbays, which was one of my errands that day. Stopped in to inquire about pricing for a haircut and getting a vibrant blue swatch. Found the pricing to be quite reasonable Luckily, they could take me right away. Not only did I get the best haircut, but the blue came out so beautiful. Today was my 3rd appointment and I wanted to switch colors. Actually I asked this on my 2nd visit, but Jamie suggested, for the health and integrity of my hair, to wait for some outgrowth. Today, she said there was room for the new color. I am over the moon with how it turned out. GREAT experience! Stylists are skilled and friendly, place itself has cool vibes, and services are fairly priced. They offer snacks and drinks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic. I came in as a walk-in to get my hair styled for a wedding and was SO lucky that Jeffrey was available. He is AMAZING! I've got vivid hair, and he was very mindful about how to shampoo/condition. Then he asked me about the dress I was going to where to determine the best hairstyle and was super methodical to give me a CUTE curly/wavy 'do. Jeff is an amazing stylist and has great suggestions for maintaining our hair. The place has a nice vibe and is conveniently located near other shops allowing for a convenient evening shopping after being done with a haircut. The only negative has nothing to do with the shop itself, but the location is not the most accessible to get to by walking/rolling/biking/transit. But no issues if driving. read more

I've messaged management twice now but no answers yet. long story short: probably the worst haircut of my life. asked hairdresser Addy to cut about 4inches of my hair. she cut it about 7 inches off. I went from waist length to just below the shoulder. asked Addy to give me some soft layers-ended up with real choppy ones (surfers could probably surf on those waves). uneven, chunky, big layers. I had my hair done by Jeffery, and I am beyond impressed. I ordered a short cut with an additional skin fade and it turned out incredible. Jeffery is absolutely amazing at doing exactly what is requested, with a few personal touches to make it even better. I love that bishops accepts every kind of person, taking kids, adults, and everyone you could think of that a barber might not allow. The casual and friendly environment is the reason that I come back every. Single. Time. I want a haircut. This is the best possible barber in the city to go to. The hairstylist was friendly and bubbly but left my hair looking like a boy band style from the mid 90"s I have a pixie and it honestly looks ridiculous I need to find another barber shop that'll do what I want and only that. It's a great place to go. The only reason why I'm not going 5 stars is cos they recently changed their pet policy (one stupid chihuahua and a Karen had to ruin the fun for EVERYONE) and that the talent is a bit on a revolving door. I choose bishops over other salons for its laid back, comfortable vibe. While other salons seem to be getting more corporate with heavily curated music playlists, strict dress code policies, etc, bishops maintains its relaxing environment by employing free-spirited stylists who seem to genuinely enjoy their work thanks to the lack of micro management. I will keep coming back as long as this is the case. It also helps that Vicki is a fantastic stylist who helped me find the ideal hairstyle for me. read more

I had a haircut with Megan on Wed, 12/6/2023. I had long hair and decided to cut it short due to severe postpartum hair loss. I showed her pictures of the cut that I wanted. I was given several short layers and told she did this to avoid the look of boxy hair. Now, my hair looks like it was done in the 80s. By the way, how many layers and the length of them were not discussed with me. So obviously I was surprised by the outcome. I am not the kind of person who immediately confronts someone. I also like to style my hair a couple of times before I form an opinion. It's been a month and a half of styling my hair in several different ways, nothing fits right. When I look at myself in the mirror, I think of how many months it'd take me to grow it all out and get the hair evened. For a person with severe postpartum hair loss, losing hair itself is a trauma, and on top of that, a haircut this bad is just traumatizing. read more

12/18/2022 Update: So, it's taken me a while to update my review again as I've been really frustrated and didn't know what exactly to say... So, after having my hair "fixed" at Bishops on 10/26, inside the shop it looked decent, this is where I wrote my review. However in the sunlight my hair was still yellow. I opted not to go and spend several more hours at Bishops to have it "fixed" again. At that point, I realized that they weren't going to get my roots platinum. Over the next couple of weeks, the more I shampooed it, the more yellow it got. The toner was washing out revealing a more intense yellow tone while my ends were still platinum (and mushy). No one has reached out to me regarding any conditioning treatments which I was promised. (The regional/district manager initially reached out to me promising "as many conditioning treatments as necessary" to get my hair healthy again. *See my first review below*) I have since dyed my hair brown so it can grow out since it quite literally cannot be re-bleached due to the significant damage. *Keep in mind, I paid over $230 for these services and was told they won't refund my money regardless of the outcome. I am so incredibly frustrated with this entire situation and I would definitely recommend going elsewhere. 10/26/2022 Update: Today Cassandra (the manager of this Bishops) redid my hair. My hair seems to look much better and it feels much better. She used an oil based bleach that was gentle to lift out the yellow tone and not damage my hair further, she also trimmed off a bit of the really damaged and uneven hair. As it stands, I will be going back to her for my root touch-ups and haircuts in the future. 10/24/2022 UPDATE: A Bishops regional manager reached out to me in response to an email I sent them. They wont refund my money, but are going to try to fix the yellow tone and have offered complimentary conditioning treatments for the damaged ends. 10/22/2022 One star: I had an appointment for a bleach and tone for my roots yesterday. I watched as the stylist overlapped the bleach over my previously bleached hair. She left me sitting for 2.5 hours then toned me twice at the sink. When I sat back down in the chair, she said she was going to give me a "complimentary haircut", but I could see that my hair had broken off where the bleach had been overlapped. I agreed for her to just to shape it up and to make it blend but she cut it so short (I think to camouflage the fact that she messed up and my hair was broken off with parts still breaking off). I told the stylist that I wasn't happy with my hair. They made me pay full price and had a really bad attitude with me. They said they would "fix" my hair for free... My hair is at least two inches shorter than when I went in, keep in mind I was not there for a haircut at all and now it has a dingy yellow tone. The ends that didn't break off are so damaged, my hair feels like mush when it's wet, and when dry those end pieces are breaking off. I paid over $230 for this service. read more

Overpriced and poor quality. I've taken both of my kids in for a simple hair cut and both times they needed to be fixed. First, was curtain bangs that were so horribly cut wrong, almost a year later it's still growing out! My daughter was so moritified she cried for days. My son asked for a simple longer layered cut to show off his wavy hair - we have is a weird mullet style but that doesn't even begin to describe it. At least he can shave his head and start over! They hire poor quality workers or too new that shouldn't be cutting hair without supervision. While I was waiting ANOTHER women came in to get her hair fixed. Just terrible. Will not be going back. When she relocated to Seattle, we started driving two hours to Bishops Issaquah from Bellingham just to see her. Yes, Tain is that good! Even though we have some hair challenges, Tain always does a great job on our haircuts, coloring, and perms. I'm a middle-aged Caucasian with hair that is curly, fragile, and graying at the temples. My half-Chinese daughter has a thick straight heavy untamable Asian mane. Whenever we've gone to other stylists, we've always walked out of the salon feeling like the haircut or color just wasn't quite... right. We've never had that feeling with Tain. Tain has been in this business a long time, and her experience just shows in her spot-on style, color, and product suggestions. Tain charges fair prices and sells you only the services you need. I passed by the Bellevue location a few times and I loved that whatever your gender or whoever you are, you're welcome here. Put my name in for a later appointment and was blessed to get Elizabeth. I was so embarrassed for how horrible my hair was before I came in and she didn't judge me but was honest about how damaged my hair was. Most places would lecture me for hours but Elizabeth was super helpful and didn't feel on that. I came in looking to add dark purple on my hair and touch up my roots, get an undercut and trim my ends. For all of that it was about $175 (great price cause color is by how much color they need to use and I have a LOT of hair). Elizabeth was so sweet and did such a good job. I was looking for a stylist near by and now I don't have to look any farther. She's great with cuts and color! Would recommend her to anyone read more

I don't understand how the stylist could do such a terrible job when it was simply a "short on the sides, longer on top" cut. About 1/3 of the top was cut, and the rest was long and choppy. We had a bad experience. My son was about to start at a new school and I decided to get his hair cut right before so that it would look nice for the first week of school. Unfortunately, the barber ignored all of our requests and cut it short and straight across the front, like really short bangs. Ew! None of the things we had requested *and* provided pics of his previous cuts for. It was all pretty clear what we wanted. I just left Bishops Issaquah after a haircut for my 9 year old son. Bobbie was spectacular! She took care of my son's haircut, showed me how to style his cowleg (never knew the name of this front curl) and all of this in 25 minutes. We came in at 7:32, which was pretty late, I realize. Worse than most cheap salons, I thought if i paid an extra $15, I might get a better cut than Supercuts, but the cut was actually worse. She spent 10 minutes cutting my hair and that was it. No layers, nothing. I had to ask her to frame my hair in the style it was originally, otherwise she would not have cut the front at all! I wanted two inches off, she cut 1.5 inches. I hate having to lie to her face and say it's a good cut but I just wanted to get out of there and I will never go back. read more
