unfortunately, the way my hair looks is not what i expected from a salon i've been going to for quite awhile the length of my hair may have been a matter of miscommunication, but i did explicitly state that i only wanted an inch off the bottom of my hair. later in the session, my stylist had asked something along the lines of "do you want it to be shorter or just cut off as much as we need to?" assuming that the latter meant we'd only cut off an inch, i responded with cutting of as much as we needed to. my hair is 4 inches shorter than when i came in. i likely needed it to be trimmed shorter anyway, but the lack of communication took me by surprise and i did not realize how short she cut my hair until she turned me around in the chair. the length of my hair is the least of my worries, as i'm really upset with the way the color came out. i requested a dark root similar to my reference photos, and instead i received a root that looked mostly untouched, and possibly looking even more grown out than it did when i came in. there was a random line of black color in my blonde sections, the blonde sections start abruptly at random points in my hair, and the blend was overall uneven and choppy. it wasn't until the morning after (i left the salon around 8:15pm) i realized how poorly done the blend was. i am really surprised and disappointed that after 8 hours and almost $400 (on this session alone!) i was allowed to walk out of the salon with my hair looking like this in the first place. they made an effort to fix it for free (which i appreciate), but very minor improvements were made--it looks even further from the reference photos. at this point, i just want a refund. i've sent multiple emails and submitted feedback via the automated form that sends out, and i haven't heard back despite checking the box stating i'd like someone to reach out to me. very disappointing :') read more

I am a creature of habit and very particular about my haircut. I found this salon 3-4 years ago and have been loyal ever since! I hopped around to quite a few of the stylists at this location (just availability, not preference) and I have never been disappointed. There was one time I tried something new and wasn't thrilled with how the haircut was sitting, came back a few days later and they fixed it free of charge! Everyone here is delightful. Exceptional vibes and stellar service. Now, the real reason I came on here and went through resetting my password: Dani!!! An absolute legend. A delight to talk to, immaculate vibes, and gave me the best haircut IN. MY. LIFE. Nothing brings on the self-confidence like a killer haircut. I didn't know exactly what I was going for when I came in, but showed them pictures for inspiration and they asked questions and really guided me through not just what I was looking for, but the way that it would fall on my face/ the styling tips to maintain it. Tbh I gave this place a couple chances. I asked for bright red hair and she bleached my hair and dyed it violet purple and said it's red in the sun. I honestly which she would've admit and say let's fix it but paid $450 for something completely different. I ended up going back and she stripped it damaging my hair that I had just grown entirely out. But what can. I do. Moving forward I tried to go again for a blowout I normally got for $15 and there seems to be new ppl. This new girl EM I got is super cute but her vibe was not it. I am usually talkative with my hair stylist there suppose to make u feel confident. Coming in with ur hair is you know is something u wanna open up and trust about. It was a good haircut with a good consultation to see what I wanted. It was expensive but that's pretty much everywhere these days. On the website it said that you get a complimentary rinse and hot towel finish which I never get. I didn't bring up that point during my cut because I thought I misread it. Then I went back home and read the website. A complimentary rinse and hot towel finish is included as part of a Men's Short Haircut. The haircut experience was great, not exceptional but they it was friendly staff who did a good job and asked the right questions. I contacted my stylist through instagram and sent so many inspiration pics of the exact shade that I wanted ! She told me over and over we could do it! I needed a fresh cut before this weekend's conference and wanted to try Bishops. My usual spot for a cut is in Westminster but could not get out there this week. Let me tell you why Destiny is a superb stylist: I was greeted promptly and with courtesy upon entering this location. Since I had checked in early there was not any wait time. Me and Destiny had a good discussion about my previous cut experience and then decided on a zero-fade with a comb over. Destiny's technique is excellent, and I could tell she cut and blended with care throughout the process. The wash was very relaxing and I thoroughly enjoyed the mint fragrance shampoo and conditioner. Destiny also gave me a lot of tips on how to create shape with the blow dryer, and some pomade that will suit the quality of my hair (straight, hard to control). One suggestion I have for newcomers is to come in with a hairstyle in mind, or with reference photos. Since it was my first time I wanted to do something different than the ol run of the mill Asian fade n spikes cut (still a classic...). Everyone here is really friendly and even though it's a bit of a drive for me for a simple haircut I'm willing to do it because of Dani especially. He always makes my haircut experience so fun and he even advocated for me by telling the person on the front register that I'm a student so that I would get a discount! More importantly though, Dani is easy to talk to and laugh with and he understood what I wanted and needed and always makes it happen to the best of his ability! He also recommended I buy k18 which I was kind of skeptical about because I'd used it before but I guess I'd used it the wrong way LOL this time I bought it and did some research on how to use it properly and he was sooooo right, it absolutely TRANSFORMED my hair's quality/manageability and texture. It felt like i just got a brazilian blowout done but i still have volume. Thank you Dani for your wisdom and great suggestion and knowing what my hair needed even more than I did!! Bummer that I need to update my review in the wrong direction. A hair stylist here mistreated me after many months of satisfaction with my haircuts. I am not interested in nor welcome returning. Truly, truly, truly, a slap in the face to its own branding of accepting "all people." Amy always cut my hair before her coworker Marissa was rude to me the last time I called in to make an appointment. It was uncalled for and bizarre, and no reason has been provided. Additional legal steps are underway to determine how Bishops can make things right by me for their personal discrimination. I have a mild form of autism (Asperger's syndrome), which I didn't think shows, so I didn't tell anyone I have that until they told me I'm "uncomfortable" the last time I called in to get myself on Amy's schedule. Perhaps I should have made it more clear when I began going that I have this condition, I just didn't realize that it was potentially bothering people. I'm very schedule oriented, and maybe that annoyed Amy's co worker, Marissa, in some fashion. She knew me previously and really became increasingly cruel towards me when I followed her advice to check out the shop that she works at. What a mistake that was!! When I called in to schedule my cut, Marissa took the phone from her co worker who was helping me and told me that my presence was making them all "uncomfortable." At the end of the day, as open minded as this spot claims to be, don't fall for it. Especially if you're 'different'. The word "uncomfortable" is the new term for "I don't want to be a better person towards people who are different than me." Bishops has shown it is unwilling to make decisions of kindness and understanding towards loyal customers like myself. Disgusting ALSO: Even during my "happy days" getting my haircut here, this place is prone to rescheduling you constantly. I visited Bishops to get a purple balayage done by Destiny on my hair (thick and dark with two dye sessions done a year ago as "highlights"). As per her advice, we went for something more subtle this time around since dyeing my hair meant that I would have to bleach it. I was honestly a little worried at first because I wasn't really sure how this whole process worked and didn't know how it would turn out. Ultimately I'm really glad that we went for this route, though -- I remember turning around to face the mirror after Destiny blow dried my hair and I was SO happy!!! It's the right amount of subtlety and color; at the same time, I get to enjoy hair that still feels and looks healthy :P I think that the price I had to pay to get this done (around $260-280) was reasonable for the service and time that Destiny took to make my hair look nice :-) They also have a student discount, so every penny saved helps! Looking forward to return sometime and hopefully get more color in there!!! read more
