I'm thrilled to have discovered Allen here on Yelp! Since moving to Irvine, finding the perfect hairstylist felt like a challenge--until Allen came along. His balayage technique is exceptional. Meticulous and attentive, he listens and makes sure you get exactly the color you envision. This time, I asked for a natural balayage and he absolutely nailed it! Allen works in a studio at Sola Salon, and his prices are very reasonable given the quality. He's also my go-to for haircuts, which I love every time. Thank you Allen, for making my balayage dreams come true. I'll definitely be a loyal client for years to come!

I messaged Allen for about three days, going back and forth with all my questions since it was my first time--and wow, he was so patient! I ended up booking with him, and he even squeezed me in on a Saturday before I went out of town for a week. When I arrived, Allen carefully inspected my hair and we discussed the look I was going for--big, voluminous curls. The entire process took about four hours, and he was incredibly efficient. You can tell from the way he cuts hair that he's a true pro! I absolutely love my perm and feel like I've finally found my go-to stylist. This is my second time going to Moc Hair Studio and I didn't want to write this so I could gate keep Allen and his amazing work but I'm just so happy I finally found someone who can get me EXACTLY what I show with inspo pics. The first time I went to Allen was actually to fix my hair from my previous hair person. I was almost in tears because my hair was orange literally the week after I got it done and dropped so much money. my hair felt so dry and looked like I havent gotten my hair done in a year. I tried to tell myself it doesn't look that bad but the more I looked at it, the more upset I got. So I was looking for someone on yelp to help me fix this and came across Moc Hair Studio. The reviews were great and although I was nervous I couldn't stand to look at my hair anymore the way it was so I took the leap of faith and gave it a try. Allen was so informative and let me know what exactly my previous hair person did to make it look like that. He explained what he will do to fix it and throughout the entire process I could tell how meticulous he was. I felt like I was in good hands and after he was done, my hair looked like what I wanted it to look like in the first place!! I was so impressed with his work that I decided the next time I needed my hair done I'm coming back. Fast forward to yesterday.. I wanted a change with my hair so I decided to go back to Allen and see what magic he could work. I wanted to try something a bit different from what I usually go for and I knew Allen could do it but from previous trauma of going to the same person multiple times and never getting exactly what I wanted, I was still scared. Again he calmed my nerves by taking his time and making sure everything looked perfect. I've never been to anyone before where I felt like I was his only customer ever by the way he was taking second third and even fourth looks to make sure the color is right, the hair is even on both sides, and the hair is healthy and not damaged!! MOC hair studio always gets me right. I initially was a little nervous since most of the photos were of women, but I went in for a male perm. Perm was 170$, including the haircut and hair wash too. Came out great, and after growing it out for like 1 and a half months I went back for another cut. Also turned out great. Cut was 50$. I've been going to Allen for 1 year now and he's the only one I trust/ go back to to get my hair done. I asked for a darker base with lighter highlights this time and it turned out SO GOOD, the photos don't do it justice. Allen did what he called Asian style highlights/ super highlights. It turned out exactly how I wanted and there was no damage/ breakage! My hair health is always great even after bleaching whenever Allen does my hair and it grows out nicely. I usually get my highlights redone after around 6-8 months and it always grows out nicely and pricing is reasonable. Allen is super meticulous, efficient, and always delivers quality work. I've been going to Allen since the middle of COVID, and I honestly wouldn't trust anyone else with coloring my hair anymore. The balayage he did over two years ago still looked amazing--beautiful grow-out, and I've only done two toning sessions the entire time. Most recently, I went in for airtouch highlights, and as always, Allen nailed it. He achieved the exact color I wanted and made sure my hair stayed healthy, even with three bleaching sessions involved. Alan was super responsive to text, and was able to schedule me within a week of reaching out! I asked him to cut off a couple inches, add layers, and touch up my curtain bangs, which he did beautifully. He even had some styling recommendations on account of my hair being in the wavier side. Allen is truly the best at what he does! I asked for natural looking air touch highlights on my virgin black hair and they turned out amazing!! This style is low maintenance and he mentioned I could come back in 10 months for a touch up. We did two rounds of bleach and my hair is still very healthy. Definitely trust him!! read more
