Showed her my style, worked with me, was patient, used scissors and told me about a quick down perm to keep my hair from floofing out so it can grow out. Not salesman at all. I had no idea how much the cut was going to be. Shocked. 40 bucks. That's it. I went to another highly rated salon in Irvine and it cost 60 bucks and he ruined my hair. I've been here before and had really good success. I'm really disappointed to have come again and walk out with my confidence destroyed. I showed my stylist the cut I wanted and expressed the length I wanted as well. She suggested to make it longer and I agreed, surely she had the best intentions in mind. I wanted layers and walked out with a long bob. My stylist was too scissor happy. She hacked it all off in 15 minutes. The shaping is atrocious and its way shorter than I had originally expressed. She had cut 6 inches of my hair off and looked regretful at the end. Even her coworker was expressing in Korean how short it was. My hair is a mess and it's too short now to be saved. Yet, I still had to pay a whooping $90 for it. The owner of the business also seems to be gaslighting and bullying anyone who gives them a negative review on here. I started coming to Ktop more than a year ago with Erica for my haircuts after my primary hair dresser retired. I usually get a simple straight cut and thinning of my hair. I called in last week and scheduled a 2:30 pm appointment today for my routine haircut. Unfortunately, I was delayed a bit due to work and I called the front to let them know if it was okay that I was running 10 minutes late. She put me on hold and when she came back, she told me that I had to be there at exactly 2:30pm or they will not be able to take me in. The person over the phone was overly rude and had no basic phone etiquette. Do not go there if you are not Korean, they don't treat you with respect! I will not be going back. read more

Came here due to a friend's referral and scheduled a haircut days in advance but the lady who cut my hair seemed to be rushing. She washed and semi dried my hair but it was pretty tangled and she just cut at the tangles!!! I asked for a U-cut with face framing bangs and long layers. The U cut was there but the layers and face framing pieces were so choppy. At the end I asked twice if she could feather them out more and she did it, but it was not very well done and my hair was getting too short. Not a good experience and not coming back read more

Had a 10am appointment for a balayage on Saturday and was sat right away. Good start. I wanted to try balayage for the first time and my hair is dark brown, so I wanted some strands of light brown/blonde. I showed the guy what I wanted and he said okay. Once that was complete, they put a machine over my head for about 20 minutes and then after that, we went to go wash my hair out. When I came back to sit on the chair, he came and looked at my hair and said oh no part of it is dark and it's not how you want it. When I looked in the mirror, I saw bronze hair and my head was burning. He asked if I wanted it cut and I said no and he asked when was the last time I cut it and I said last year so he said I recommend cut now. So he proceeded to cut my hair a lot shorter than what I wanted, even though I didn't even want it cut to begin with. He looked at my hair and looked disappointed. He walked to go get more color and started to dye my hair again, so I thought. He then called someone else over to assist him dye my hair until another client came in and he went to go help them in the middle of this so now somebody else stepped in to finish my hair. At this point two random people are on my head working really fast and I still don't know what's going on because they only speak Korean, but they worked fast and in a panic. At this point, my head was burning and I was speechless. Nothing was going right and no one was telling me what's going on. I finally asked the lady when they were done with whatever they were doing., "What is going on no one is telling me anything." She said let's go to the back and rinse your hair out. I'm laying in their chair and they put a towel over my face with steam and I'm laying there for about 20 minutes, not knowing what's going on then they rinse my hair out and take me back to another seat and proceeded to blow dry my hair and style it at this point my head is burning. The color of my hair is bad and when I go to the front, I told him this is not what I wanted. He said you came in here with dry damaged hair and you said you dyed your hair last year therefore, the color is not sticking to your hair so in other words blaming me because he couldn't do his job. If that was the case, you would want to tell your client this before you started! Charging somebody $380 for something you cannot do is insane. He had the audacity to charge me $380 for something that I did not want and he "gifted" a cream to help my now damaged hair. I said I'm not paying $380 because I did not get what I wanted and you burned my hair. He said "you need to now do deep moisturizer treatment for your hair." Just the thing a lady wants to hear before leaving the salon 3 hours later. I was speechless almost the whole 3 hours because I couldn't believe it was happening to me, stuff from nightmares! read more

I really wanted to change my hairstyle as it was driving me crazy . I called a couple of places but everyone was busy except this place, who said come in and we will take care of you. I was welcomed by a nice young lady. She had me put my purse in a locker and gave me the key and then took me to shampoo my hair. Ahhhh it felt so great. I was then put in the great hands of Kay, who worked magic on my hair. She is a great listener and gave good suggestions So if you are looking for some hairdresser who can help you out with those fabulous hairstyles then this is the place for you. While my hair didn't need some of their services, they do have products from South Korea for those who do. Side note - whoever the 2 Hispanic women working at the salon, they were doing an absolutely fantastic job helping customers and keeping the place looking neat and tidy. *I paid $50 for my haircut, which for what I received was quite fair. It's been almost a year since I've tried this salon, so I figured I should write my review. I wouldn't recommend this salon if you are looking for trendy haircuts and reasonable/cheap pricing. I asked for a retouch and more blonde balayage from my previous one (last photo) and the first photo is what Nicole did for me. She was honest in how she couldn't make it the level of blonde that I desired, which is understandable based on my hair type, and after 3 months I'm not really complaining about the fade. My main concern was when I asked for my haircut. I wanted a soft wolfcut (3rd picture) but the 2nd picture is what she did for me. She was kind of having trouble understanding what I wanted. After experimenting with more stylists who could do better with the balayage and color I wanted, I realized that the pricing is ridiculous!! Haircut (because for some reason it is not included in the balayage/color): $60 Balayage: $200 Color: $150 Total: $410 Like what There are many other salonists who could treat your hair to your desired style with ranges from $230-350. I started coming here because I followed Nicole. I've been going to her for years and I always had such a good experience with my hair and with fair prices. We went from gray, to color, to blonde and every hair cut she slays it. Most importantly, my hair always leaves feeling refreshed and not as damaged compared to the others I went to. However, I've gotten my hair cut done by Ian and loved it! He's so kind and funny. My husband gets his haircut by Erica and only prefers her. Next time, I'll definitely book an appointment with her as well. What I love about this salon is they also have makeup. Very surprised at the 1-star reviews. I'm in town for a business trip and needed my haircut so I messaged them on Yelp and made an appointment, they were accommodating with time changes when I had to make them. Erica was great, and all the staff were very pleasant. They put all your stuff in a locker and give you the key on a wristband. They also let me keep my mask on for shampooing and cutting and everything. Erica consulted with me about length and closeness of shave for my undercut before starting. It was "brusque" in the sense that there were no pleasantries or conversation, but that's fine. I didn't really start any convo myself and I was kind of in a rush anyway. Kinda weird for people to be upset that there's a collegial vibe in a hair salon. Of course staff are going to talk to each other in Korean, and hang out and chill together. (I get not wanting smoke from outside to enter the salon, but that wasn't happening when I was there so maybe they changed that?) Haircut itself was great. They shampoo'd twice, and Erica styled it very "kpop" (which I didn't ask for, but it looks great). Fast, efficient, and very competent overall. They got me seated within 10 minutes of me Yelp-messaging the business, and the cut took about half an hour. Before they cut it, I specifically asked for it NOT to be super short. I even picked out examples from a magazine, but the stylist didn't really seem to follow that, nor even look at the picture? However, I needed the cut to even out my hair because I shaved one side and the other grew out to around my shoulders, and I wanted to fix the unevenness before going on vacation. They have a pricing situation where they charge based on..hair length? Which is weird and also subjective, because my hair was only to my shoulders but they considered that "long"- uh, ok. Not sure what short hair would entail?? does anyone even get short hair pricing- why would you be getting it cut if it's short? If you're looking for a relaxing salon visit to work on a good style, this definitely isn't the place. I would not recommend this place at all. I've tried other hairstyles a few times, but I always end up coming back to Ian after learning my lesson the hard way :')

Asked for a straight, clean cut and no layers but they insisted that I should get layers since my hair is thick. I told them I do not want it, but I understand that there needs to be some blending so I told them to just go very light on the layering. My stylist basically shredded half my hair off, starting the shortest layers from my scalp, and the length I requested was off by a huge amount because of how much she layered. Wash, cut and style was 40 minutes and felt very rushed, as she kept dropping things on me (like her comb from going to fast, getting caught in a tangle, and losing her grip). My coworker and boyfriend even mentioned that my hair looked better before my cut, and they're usually very supportive and sweet with their words. :( it looks so choppy and awkward when it is unstyled, and overall just feeling very upset knowing that I'll have to deal with this for the next few months until I can get it fixed. The staff is nice and friendly but please listen to the requests of your customers. read more

DO NOT EVER GO HERE! PLEASE Watch out for their overpriced haircuts; they never reveal the price until the end. They will keep on pressuring you to get more expensive routes of haircuts and coloring. Also, the side-lady goes around if you want to paint your nails randomly and charges you a few hundred on top. If so, MAKE SURE TO ASK THEM ABOUT THE PRICING and NEGOTIATE ACCORDINGLY. My haircut was short and right around the end of the earlobe, but they priced me at $600 for only changing into silver hair. Disregarding my hair color was previously bleached 3 times beforehand. Those hair-salonists, especially the older ladies, WILL talk behind other customers in their mother language. I was able to overhear the conversation, and it was very disturbing. Please watch out and know that one day it could be you. I understand some may be better skilled than others, and it depends on who you book. But, some ladies cannot even cut basic hair and perm and charge them over 350. So if you don't know any of the hairstylists, then you are cooked. Throwing a random dice and paying to get ruined hair. They offer a 2nd visit chance to fix your hair if you are really unsatisfied, but know it will ruin it even more from previous damage. They need to be honest and transparent about what they are doing. read more
