Took my mom here because a friend recommended Mahshid. We explained in detail what color and cut we wanted and we were very disappointed. She ended up over processing the highlights and the cut we could've gotten at fantastic Sam. Seriously don't try the salon or Mahshid. I had called her prior to coming in and received pricing and when it came to paying, she pulled a bait and switch and overcharged us. Her customer service skills are below average and she's definitely not personable a very phony person that is only after your money. I've been wanting to get my hair done but haven't had the time. Finally a day off, called them and they were able to squeeze me in on a Monday afternoon. I was greeted upon arrival and they told me since I had a lot of hair that it was going to take 2 hours to get done with all the highlights, tone, and shampoo & conditioning. No problem I'd figure with my type of hair. My stylist was super sweet and let me nap during most of the process while she was doing my hair. Actually after 3 hours, my hair looked healthy and full of life. A nice caramel highlight and easy long curls, I love it! I know that other reviews they mention the service was rude but I disagree. They are kind and actually do care. I think the price estimation was kind of expensive but splurging on myself once in a while is okay so I didn't mind since they got everything taken care of all in a day. :) read more

Like someone else said here, I walked in to get a cut and was ignored initially. I stood at the counter watching a lady scroll through her phone without ever once looking up to see who had just walked in. I had to say "excuse me" and she looked up at me as if I was the one being rude. I then asked if she had any openings for an easy trim and she basically told me to come back later. I've been bringing my mom to Mahshid for years & can't believe I haven't left a review! We love Shadows Hair salon but due to the quarantine, and out of extreme caution, we haven't been in since March. Today was our first visit and it's so reassuring to see how much care they put in to make sure they're following all the safety protocols. Masks are required, physical distance maintained and stations get sanitized. Definitely felt taken care of and so glad we can get back to some kind of normal routine. I went in today for a cut. When I walked in the door I was completely ignored by the receptionist & stood there trying to get her attention for some time. She finally looked at me & said "what?" Uh.. not a good way to greet a customer. I told her I needed a trim but I had an appointment 2 blocks down at 11 (I arrived at 9:30). I asked if a cut before then would be possible, the shop was empty except one person getting their nails done. The hair stylist was just sitting in the chair. The receptionist just gave me a nasty look and shook her head. I asked if a bang cut could happen in that time & she rolled her eyes and walked away from the desk. HORRIBLE! I will never go somewhere with service like this. Also, her hair looked terrible... she may want to brush it before coming to work at a salon. read more

It is rare I write reviews, but my experience at this salon deserved it. I was a first time patron. My appointment was late in the day. The stylist was on time and started immediately (one of two positives). I asked for a trim; an inch or two off my existing hair style. The stylist was confused about what I wanted. I stated to take the original shape and cut in inch or so up. The cut/style took a total of one hour and 20 minutes. Remember, this is a TRIM. While the stylist was meticulous, I did not ask for that. Overall, the haircut came out great (the second positive). Here are my gripes... The salon states "best in". The premises itself is dirty, rundown, and needs a facelift. The scissors, combs, etc. were reused from a previous client and still had hair in them. The best part (sense my sarcasm, please) was the fact the stylist only used a smock, no towel around my neck. Needless to say, I had hair EVERYWHERE...down my back, in my bra, and embedded in my clothes! Doing laundry to try to get rid of it was a bust. All of my other clothes ended up covered in hair. I will never go back. Ever. read more

I've gone to Sherry two or three times before and she's always been really great about taking the time to cut my hair carefully and precisely. Give her about 2 hours to work on your hair. It seems that Sherry is the most comfortable doing A-line haircuts, which is a stylish and flattering hairstyle for all types of hair and face shapes, but if you want another cut, be sure to bring in pictures and defend your choice or it might somehow end up looking like an A-line bob anyways. I like that this is a friendly little salon, very clean, and relaxed with a variety of really different looking stylists, so there's something for everyone, which is a reflection on the clientele that frequent this salon. Be sure to get to your appointment early as the parking lot is small and often crowded, particularly during the afternoon. For a wash, cut and simple style, expect to pay around $55-60. read more

I have been going to Shadows Hair for over a year to get my hair done by different stylists. All have been very good until once I needed to shape my eyebrows because the wax lady at the other nail place was busy so I asked Mashied to do my eyebrows for me, it literally gave me a face lift!! wow! , her skills in designing eyebrows are top notch. I honestly didn't think I had beautiful eyebrows until Mashied shaped them for me! So Mahshid (i think--the owner) Japanese straightened my hair and it looked gorgeous! i LOVE it. She has done it before and did a really thorough job. She's friendly and makes conversation with you too. Only thing is that it was kind of pricey ($350-400), which is normal for japanese straightening, but some other salons do it for cheaper. 3 Days later, as planned, i came back for a quick trim because my ends were damaged from the procedure, and one of the other stylists trimmed my hair. It was a "dry" hair cut and it was alright but i feel like she didn't cut a lot of the ends because i still had so many fried and split ends. Overall pretty nice salon and good stylists, oh and its very Persian. read more

I've been to this salon a few times, twice my hair has been done by Mahshid and she is amazing. I've never had better cuts and color. She will snip every tiny little piece until your hair is perfect. She is also very knowledgeable and will let you know if there's something you shouldn't do. I've also had highlights and cut done by Sondra. She did a beautiful job on my highlights, but I feel as if the cut wasn't that great. It looks very choppy and there were a few bits that she missed, I ended up having to cut them at home. My experience with Mahshid has been wonderful. I honestly had not had a consistent hairstylist for over 10 years...until I met Mahshid. My history with her is about 18 months, a record for me. It is due to her diligence in getting it right, her concern for what I'd like, her honesty regarding style, and her consistency in cutting and styling. I'm not easy to please, but she has no problem! Sherry did an amazing job on my blow dry! It was my second time there and I was looking for "movie star" hair - lots of volume, movement, and waves to show off the layers.
