The prices as were expected for a Kosher restaurant in Brooklyn. It was on a quiet street where our party was able to get parking. We were a large party and were seated in a corner out of the way from other tables. Our waitress was great about checking on us and getting people refills. The zucchini sticks were tasty with just enough sauce to pay with the fried flavor. For entries, the filet mignon was fine, but the bowl-like quality of the serving dish had it piled onto the vegetables and mashed potatoes when they would have been better with a little breathing room. The applewood smoked delmonico was a true star though. The flavor of that applewood was out of this world. It also came on the larger plate where the sides were next to it, not underneath it. They were a little on the salty side. For dessert, we got the lava cake. The cake itself was sweet and hot, but the non dairy ice cream just didn't pair well with it like I had hoped. The giant bruleed marshmallow was a nice touch though. If you are seeking out a special occasion Kosher restaurant, this is a good location to get together. read more

Overall, Bison and Bourbon is an excellent kosher restaurant. Just about everything we had was either really good or delicious. The service was generally pretty good except for one point when our waitress seemed to have disappeared. At least they weren't looking to chase us out once we were done with our meal. The space is pretty cool as it is in an old industrial building. The only drawback is the restaurant can get quite noisy. The location is also a little awkward, but at least parking is pretty easy on weekends. So if you're looking for a kosher meal that is heavy on red meat this is the place to go. As with all kosher restaurants, a heavy price tag is expected and Bison and Bourbon doesn't disappoint on that either. read more

Went to Bison & Bourbon for a nice night out, and it was a great time. The food was fantastic, the vibes were great, and we genuinely left full and happy. We started with the 7th Street Pizza, which came out hot, crispy, and full of flavor--definitely a solid appetizer to kick things off. Then came the chicken tenders, which completely surprised us. They weren't your typical tenders--these were wrapped in a crispy onion and beer batter that added a whole new level of flavor and texture. Super crunchy, super juicy--just really well done and great value for money! The highlight was the tomahawk steak. 22oz I think, perfectly cooked, and packed with flavor. All in all, we were really impressed. Great food, generous portions, and a place we'll definitely be coming back to. And we have to shout out the service--it was spot-on the entire night. Food was very expensive and not good. Mashed potatoes were so salty , I had to send them back. Requested french fries without salt. Got french fries with salt saying that they make it in batches and could not accommodate a no salt order. What nonsense. Even McDonald's will give you no salt french fries if you requested. Had the cowboy steak, which was also salty. The mixed vegetables were salty. For some reason, they don't taste the food and just serve it without caring about the customer. It's an absolute disgrace to those prices and serve food that is so over salted. What a terrible chef they have. read more

I am not much of a steak guy, but when we stopped here, I was anxious to try the Applewood steak plate. Think my girlfriend wanted the Flatbread. We were seated and greeted by John. The only thing this place has going for it is its glatt kosher status, which falls way short of the high expectations I had when the very dim lighting covers up the overcooked dried out dry aged prime rib that I ordered medium rare. and the tuna tartare arrived, plated like some vomit a toddler stuck their fingers through to draw with. the service was average, overpowered by the excessively loud music that prevented conversatoon or helped the awkward date where nothing is said. I wouldn't give it another chance, but I'm ready to support the next kosher steakhouse or see if they'd hire a chef that is willing to help pick up their slack for the prices they charge. read more

Have wanted to visit for sooooo long but was really disappointed. The only thing we enjoyed were the cocktails and the chicken and waffles. CORDON BLUE ($25) chicken stuffed with smoke pastrami, onions, mushrooms, over butternut squash & polenta pure topped with a mushroom sauce. --- This was tasteless and we didn't finish. Shame! APPLEWOOD SMOKED DELMONICO ($70) 14 oz mashed potatoes, mixed vegetables --- only thing we enjoyed were the mixed veggies. Steak was tasteless and dry BISON DONUTS ($16) fried donuts tossed in cinnamon sugar served with smoked chocolate and salted caramel ---- smoked chocolate was thin and salted caramel was wayyyyy too sweet Ambiance was great and server was lovely. The mains here are obviously the steaks. Delmonico is $10 price difference for bacon and fried onions. I asked for mine medium, but it came more rare/med rare so I asked them to send it back, and then it was perfect. Overall I am very happy with this establishment. I love coming here at any time of the year. When the weather is nice we're able to sit outdoors and feel like we're eating in a garden. And even in middle of the winter they are in a big spacious room with tall ceilings. Never get a headache from the loud bustling room and yet the room is happening! I'm so sad to come back here post-COVID and find the drop in quality and overall experience. The three stars are for the staff- friendly and accommodating- and the atmosphere- cozy and inviting - and for the fact that at least, my issues were addressed at the end of the night at least. Cocktails are strong but delicious. However, unfortunately everything else has not met my expectations considering I have come here before and experienced Bison & Bourbon at its best. Food is not horrible, it's an upscale restaurant so naturally the ingredients are high quality and mostly flavored well. Half the menu is gone and no additions can be made (ie. protein on a salad) which was kind of sad. The pulled beef flatbread (which we've ordered before and raves about) tasted too sweet, almost ketchup-like rather than good BBQ. We had to flag someone down for water. Additionally, my entree arrived before my company's food which was an appetizer and I had to ask for cutlery. Lots of small issues that made the experience feel like this is not a fine dining establishment anymore. I ordered the $60 steak cooked medium and when it arrived it fell flat for me. The mashed parsnips and vegetables were flavorful and cooked perfectly though- not too crunchy but not mushy either- but the steak itself was not what I expected at all. I'm not one to complain or send food back but since I'm paying so much I feel I should enjoy my dinner. The filet was so peppery I couldn't taste anything else, and overcooked for what I asked for. When I asked for a new one I did not receive an apology, I was curtly told I ordered the wrong temperature and that I will receive "a medium rare steak with no pepper." The second steak I received was very, very rare in the middle; it went from one extreme to the other and honestly I was just ready to leave so I did not want to make a ruckus. I got my check and packed up my steak, hoping someone at home would want it as it was pricey and high quality but not what I asked for (for the second time). As I was leaving with my untouched leftovers in hand, the owner asked how my dining experience was, and I told him that it was less than satisfactory compared to how we've been treated before. He ended up comping my steak which was a nice gesture so I am appreciative of that but I still left with a sour taste on my tongue and an uncomfortable feeling. Overall I'm disappointed. I came back here to celebrate with my company post COVID and sadly I do not think I will be returning after this experience. read more

I liked this place okay and was fascinated by the fact that it was a fully kosher restaurant serving absolutely no dairy. However, it is definitely overpriced for the quality of the food. The other turnoff is that for four people they included gratuity which we did not know, but luckily as we were filling out the tip line our server told us. How much did we tip? No idea. If it was under 20% we would've actually tipped more. My friends and I split several appetizers and a bottle of wine and we still ended up spending around $60 each. All of the appetizers are around $20 and the ones we had were okay but not anything I'd call my mother over. The lamb sliders were just okay, the duck confit with gnocchi had almost no duck(& the gnocchi was rubbery), the cauliflower was good but not particularly warm but it was at least priced reasonably. I did enjoy the food but give me something incredible if I'm paying $20 for a starter. The aioli was the best part. I would be hesitant to go back for the steak only because of how okay the starters were. It is an interesting design though and they have a big outdoor area which I'm sure is amazing in the summer. read more
