First, they have Sahlen's hot dogs, which I am reviewing here, as well as the fantastic Hofmann's hot dogs. I know people think either New York City or Chicago when they think hot dogs, but let me say, upstate New York is worthy of culinary accolades just on the power of both Sahlen's and Hofmann's and their fantastic hot dogs. Sahlen's has both beef hot dogs and a pork and beef blend hot dog. Both are fantastic and your favorite will be determined y your taste or by your mood on that particular day. As a rule, I usually prefer the pork and beef blend hot dogs, but will be in the mood for an all beef hot dog here and there. I keep both in my freezer. If you have Sahlen's hot dogs in your supermarket, I recommend checking them out. I give them five stars.

Now Prima Della, a lower quality product is pushing them out. So if you are a lucky one and live in an area with Sahlen's smoke house ham, do yourself a favor and buy some. Make yourself a ham sandwich or a Cuban sandwich with roast pork. That and a cold Sam Adams and you will be in food heaven.

They also served up habanero jelly on what appeared to be a wheat thin with a small pepper slice on top and a dab of white cream. It was really a unique experience and I really liked it! (if I have any complaint at all, it's that the heating instructions are quite small and sometimes hard to read, especially if the ink blurs due to moisture when frozen.) Within an hour or two, I heard back from Jessica who had already rescheduled our shipment for a week later as requested. The best thing about this store now is that they offer tasting samples, which are lacking in many places since Covid. Being able to taste their offerings caused me to buy much more than I ever thought I would when I walked in. So many great things to taste - warm bread, oils/vinegars, dips/spreads. Everything I tasted was excellent! There were also fresh pies and amazing looking cheesecakes, which I've heard taste as good as they look. Single pieces are available along with entire cakes. Also, a variety of pastas. I couldn't buy everything, but what I did purchase, and it was a lot, is all worthy of 5 stars. They also have a smaller shop in the Olcott Shops.
