Thank GOD for Insurance, right? Well, we send the glasses off, and then find out, that my insurance had frigging lapsed just the month before. My glasses weren't covered, my visit was not covered, and I got $50.00 from the insurance company for going to a company that was NO LONGER COVERED. And their response? Oops? So I was stuck with a pair of WAY overpriced, really crappy glasses.

I was never given the opportunity to be seen, and my appointment was canceled even though I had done nothing wrong. It was disappointing to have my care affected because a family member shared feedback about her own visit. Canceling an established patient's appointment under these circumstances was frustrating and forced me to start over with another provider, delaying my eye care. I believe patients should be able to leave honest reviews without worrying that they or their family members will lose access to care. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this practice. Patients deserve to be treated fairly, even when they express concerns or criticism.

None of these things apply to Advanced: I have NEVER experienced such great care. Advanced wants to get it right for you and they will--that's their promise and they live up to it. Additionally, they are fun people to work with. I love their extremely broad choice of styles. I've also had some issues with my frames after I totally crushed them when they fell out of my bag, and they were able to fix them on the spot. They also are really great about living up to warranties and getting that sorted in a timely manner. I highly recommend these folks for a great small business in the Valley that gets it right on all levels!

I was effectively dismissed from the practice because of a $45 copay that went unpaid for more than 90 days. When I called to schedule an appointment with my eye doctor, the front desk told me that my account had been sent to collections and that they could not--or would not--schedule me. I was told I was no longer allowed to be seen by the practice. For context, I had been a cash-pay patient for more than 10 years because I did not have health insurance. During that time, I paid thousands of dollars out of pocket for treatment of uveitis, an ongoing eye condition that is causing vision loss in my right eye. When I finally obtained insurance and used it for the first time, no one informed me that I had a $45 copay. The bill went unpaid for over 90 days, and apparently that was enough to have me sent to collections and dismissed as a patient. I contacted the billing department to resolve the issue. They could not tell me which collection agency had the debt, and they would not accept my $45 payment directly. Frustrated, I left $45 cash at the front desk and left. Two months later, while still experiencing a significant flare-up of my condition, I called again to schedule an appointment. I was told I still owed money, that my account had been sent to collections, and that I had been dismissed from the practice. There was no record of the $45 cash payment I had left. I can't help but wonder whether my doctor is aware that a long-time patient with a serious eye condition was turned away over a delinquent $45 copay, that was paid.

I had surgery a couple weeks ago with a different surgeon and was having major pain everytime I blinked it felt like sand was in my eye. I had to bring my two little guys, 2yrs & 5yrs old so it was chaotic. The staff gave them both new toys to play with while I was being seen and were so kind. Then I was seen by Dr. Epstein and he was so thorough even tho he wasnt the one who had done my eyelid surgery originally. He did a quick painless procedure with post instruction on how to keep my eyelids healthy and stye free and instantly my eye felt better. I am so grateful for finding this gem! One of the staff members recommended a beautiful park in downtown Ashland and was so wonderful. Great experience. Hope I don't have to go back but recommend everyone using them. Caring, experienced, efficient and kind dream team.

The billing department was dishonest and misleading about billing during scheduling of my appointment, arriving for my appointment and leaving after my appointment--I asked numerous times and they were deceptive. Prior to the appointment, I told the billing department my insurance would not pay for an eye exam, as I know my insurance well, and they assured me the insurance would pay for the exam but not the refraction. Two weeks after the appointment, I received a bill for the entire service. The Siskiyou Eye Center is a perfect example of what is wrong with healthcare--you are a $$$ to them. Avoid this place, especially with so many other great choices in the Rogue Valley, like Artisan Eyeworks in Ashland or Medical Eye Center in Medford--they are professional and honest about services and billing. Three to four weeks without glasses, and now we have to wait longer due to some idiot not doing their job right the first time. Dr. V and Mandy were friendly, knowledgeable, and laughed at my jokes, so they are A+ in my book. :) They also took the time to make sure my eyes were healthy and that none of my concerns went unaddressed. Kandice helped me choose the best lenses for my needs and made sure I was billed correctly, while also finding the best value for me. Alicia then made sure my next appointment was scheduled. I had the prescription glasses made only problem was no difference in my right eye vision. The staff here also reflects the leadership at Cascade Eyecare Center, as they say "it all rolls downhill, for better of for worse", and it's definitely for the better here. I cannot recall, or know all their names, but a few- Cassandra in the eyeglass section who ordered a pair of Maui Jim sunglasses for my wife's birthday, Sara (one of Dr Leavitt's assistants), and Tiffany at the payment and scheduling window- and those whose names I don't know or cannot recall, please forgive me. I had cataract surgeries on both my eyes and the resulting restoration of quality eyesight in my case is STUNNING, and I'm ever-grateful to Dr Leavitt and his staff, including those in their surgery center. ABSOLUTELY TOP-SHELF. Point being, QUALITY, QUALITY, QUALITY. NO photos here....and your personal mileage and results may vary, but I went from just hideous vision....to not needing prescription lenses whatsoever, and only use 1.25 readers for very, very VERY small detail work or reading minuscule things. 98-99% of the time I need no help. She…read morerefused to bill my VSP insurance correctly, and as he stated, she was yelling at me a couple times over the phone. They are a VSP provider. I had the eye exam on 9/3025 and it took until 12/30/25 to actually get the glasses because of her not doing her job correctly. I have gone there about 20+years and this was not the first time she would not bill VSP correctly. I am praying for her because it's very obvious there is something not right in her life. She can destroy Cascade eye center if she doesn't stop her outrageous actions, or maybe she should not work there. It would be nice if she, or someone would at least apologize.
