Almond-anise biscottis were bland - no almond taste (other than the almonds which actually did not taste fresh) plus no anise taste whatsoever ... reported issue to company who acknowledged we and others have reported the same issue. We were offered another biscotti variety of our choice (chocolate chunk) as a free replacement. When we opened the replacement pack, two of the biscottis fell short: (1) one biscotti was half-size, not full size; (2) second biscotti was perhaps 2/3 in size, not full size. Don't they weigh the pack before it gets sealed? Apparently, they do not. And, the chocolate chunk coloration varied. We are concerned that the quality of the ingredients being used now falls short compared to what we experienced a year ago. How in the world can a biscotti having "anise" named in the flavor title have no anise taste at all! It's not worth spending $10. for their single-pack any longer when compared to less expensive Italian-made biscottis available at the grocer, even if their biscottis are larger in size. Bisousweet partnered with the Cocker Spaniel Rescue of NE and offered selections of their great products for Father's Day (or just anyone who wanted to order in June!), and after looking at the biscotti and cookies, I placed an order for 4 items (2 biscotti packages and 2 cookie packs). I received a thank you from my stepfather who was REALLY excited, and it sounds like biscotti might have gone with coffee in the morning and cookies for dessert! I looked at the list of stores in New England which carry their items, and I guess I will be picking up some for myself (there goes my daily commitment to cutting back on anything with sugar). read more

I saw a delightful interview with Karen, the owner and pastry chef of Bisousweet Confections on a local TV news channel a couple of days ago. She was animated and excited with the descriptions of her products and I knew right then that my sweet tooth had to try a few of them. I went to their website hoping to find that they could mail me some of the items I wanted, and was thrilled to find that they did! I ordered the Cinnamon Donut Muffins, the Lemon Poppyseed Donut Muffins, the Cranberry-Orange soft biscottis and the fudge brownies. They arrived in two days (!) and I couldn't believe how fresh each item was! You get nine donut muffins in each container and they are a good bit bigger and heavier than, say, a mini muffin, and they look kind of like large donut holes. My 38 year old son devoured two of the cinnamon donut muffins and would have eaten the whole lot, but I yanked the container from him. I had one of them, too, and swooned at how buttery and tender and scrumptious it was. Then I took a bite of one of the lemon-poppyseed ones and loved the slightly crunchy sugary, lemony outside of it and its moist, tender cake loaded with poppyseeds on the inside. Sublime! Later, I cut off a small bite of the chocolate fudge brownie and about fainted with how it was almost more like a thick chocolate ganache tender candy on the inside with a thin brownie-consistency on the top and bottom. Unbelievably delicious! This morning I had a hot latte and had to try the cranberry-orange soft biscotti. (I hate those hard, dry biscottis and nearly broke a tooth on one, so wanted to try Karen's soft biscottis.) This was so delicious (even without being dipped in my coffee) that I ate about half of it without dipping it! The cranberries were soft and moist and the flavor of the oranges was just right. They were firm, not crumbly, and dunked really well, and eaten just plain they were also absolutely yummy. I highly recommend this outstanding bakery based on the four items I tried and I will definitely order again and expand my list! I hope they will find a way to mail the cupcakes, too. My package arrived in perfect condition and Karen actually enclosed a hand-written note thanking me for my order and sent me her business card for easy reference! This is truly a well-run bakery with a caring owner-chef who knows how to make a perfect product! I wish they were closer to the Danvers-Beverly-Peabody area so I could go often for a morning treat! read more
