I have had several fruit danish and a raspberry bar. Both outstanding. I find that outstanding bakeries are few and far between. Generous fillings, delightful sweet pastry bread. Friendly staff, fair pricing and excellent value. I have been looking for such a bakery for some time. I must try their pies. They even have lobster tails. What is that? I must ask. This is a neat little bakery which specializes in wedding cakes and pies, located next door to The Daily Bagel Cafe. I stopped in here over the weekend to pick up a few small baked goods to satisfy my big sweet tooth. The place was pretty busy when I arrived here that I ended up parking along the side of the building. Joyce's offers pies, cakes, cookies, muffins, brownies, eclairs, cannolis, pastries, and other small sweet delights. In the cooler, heat & serve dinner pies and pot pies are available. There's also a good looking display of several wedding cakes on the far end of the shop. I picked up four treats for myself including a mini cannoli, mint frosted brownie, mini eclair, and a 6" apple crunch pie, totaling $7.10. Each of the treats were delectable. The cannoli had a light tasting ricotta cream filling. The brownie had a nice soft dense texture with a sweet minty chocolate flavor. The eclair was small and decent with a cool vanilla filling. The apple crunch pie was fantastic after I warmed it up in my oven for about 10 minutes. This pie had good flavors with a good dense filling of sliced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. The crust was very soft. I would definitely return to Joyce's for another apple pie and also try some of the other treats as well. read more

Do not buy the key lime pie. It is not key lime even though we asked specifically if it was. It was like they used a lime jello packet in a pudding with cool whip on top. I took one bite and just put the whole pie in the trash. Very disappointing. read more

Best pumpkin pie in the area (order ahead during the holidays!). I would say the cakes themselves taste average but their cake decorator, Alyson, does a great job. She will make any design you bring in and/or work with you to create an image. Joyce's did all of the birthday cakes for my family for several years. Parking can be very tight, due to the bagel place next door. Try to not go to Joyce's during peak breakfast hours. read more

Our Daughter-in-law brought us some pies for Thanksgiving from Joyce's. We live in upstate NY so it was quite a drive as they are from Southbridge, MA. and had to go north of Worcester, MA to Joyce's and then come here. I am a diabetic and it is difficult to find really good tasting desserts that are sugar free. Sarah brought me a sugarless Apple Pie from Joyce's. It was the best sugarless pie I have had. The crust was really good too. I only wish Joyce's had email so I could tell her myself. I highly recommend Joyce's bakery. I wish it was a lot closer to where I live. read more

Joyce is awesome! We have gotten many items in the bakery and have always been pleased. They made our wedding cake. For our first year anniversary we ordered a cake, we were delighted to see a replica of the cake she made for us a year prior. They did so with out us even asking, it was a really nice surprise. I came here whilst visiting family on the east coast during thanksgiving, they were very low on stock when it came to pies... a testament to how good they are I assume. A friendly old lady who was in line before me told me how delicious their sugar-free pies are and how I must get one. I purchased two mini cheesecakes for $2.50 one was amazing and the other was kinda boring, unfortunately I don't remember which flavours I purchased. read more

Key Lime pie rating. This was the BLANDEST "key lime" pie I've ever eaten. First ingredient is WATER! then Corn Syrup, food starch, Lemon puree, Red and Green Dye Got this at Milton Marketplace for $7.99 ? It's a $3 pie. Again I've never had such a BLAND Key Lime pie in 30 years. read more

I called last week to place an order for a cake and planned to pick it up this past Saturday. When I got to the bakery, my cake wasn't there and the " order wasn't there". My pickup time was 11 am. I was right on time. I was offered a cake that could be made up and i'd have to wait 15 minutes for then to do it. I couldn't wait because I had guests coming to my house and I had to let them in. I ended up paying FULL PRICE for a cake that I initially didn't want. I also bought mini pastries and that still wasn't enough for my family so I emded uo buying a cake at Hannaford which wasn't my intention either. When I called this morning to discuss my issues and my disappointment the woman on the phone wasn't very helpful or even apologized. It was really unfortunate because I like this bakery alotbut I can always go elsewhere! She didn't even offer a discount and when I mentioned that she said " well if you went to Hannaford you would have had to wait there too". I said to her no because the cakes are already made so there was no wait. She didn't care don't waste your time.... She also said I could have gotten 6 cupcakes to make up for the cake. I said " if I wanted cupcakes I would have ordered cupcakes" I wanted a carrot cake which is what I originally ordered! read more

Ordered a full sheet marble cake for a graduation party . I asked them to decorate it with a panda , nothing too colorful or fancy . I gave no picture to copy and really had no idea what the cake would look like but thought oh well , if its looks funny we can just laugh it off . Well ,I i was completely blown away by the panda they created ! It was ordered for my panda crazed daughter and she absolutely loved it ! The cake and icing were delicious too . I would not hesitate to give them complete design freedom on another cake . this bakery seems like they are only open about half time, every time I've gone in the bakery cases seem lacking in items and visually unappealing. The quality of products I've tasted seem to be sub par to market basket quality. I was disappointed that this bakery doesn't match up with the potential it has for its location and size of facility. read more

I grew up in southern mass near Fall River and New Bedford and my grandmother would always go to this one place in particular in Fall River for pork meat pies. She passed a few years ago and we haven't really gone since. A little over a year ago I moved from southern mass to Groton and a friend of mine recommended Joyce's. I was hesitate but really wanted a freaken meat pie. I have to say her meat pies beat this place I used to go to as a kid. If my grandmother were still alive, while hesitate, stubborn, and a picky old woman, I am 110% positive she'd be up my rear end asking me to bring her meat pies from Joyce's like monthly (I mean it would be a 2 hour drive so... monthly, not weekly :) ). Very talented cake designer at a very fair price. The cakes are always fluffy textured, not that grossly thick texture I have gotten at other bakeries. The frosting isn't sickeningly sweet either, like I have gotten at other bakeries. I'm a pretty skilled home baker so I am very picky when it comes to buying cakes from a bakery. If I could have done a better job myself, you can bet I won't be revisiting a bakery. This is the first bakery I have visited several times for birthday cakes and a baby shower cake. Every cake I have ordered from Joyce comes out looking exactly like the photo I send her of what we're looking for. If you go to the FB page for the bakery our cakes we've ordered are the Dory cake, the Nerf gun with a target cake, The Rapunzel cake, the Arsenal jersey and scarf cake. I was very disappointed with Joyce's Pies and Bakery. I came with my mom and sister after my sister's track meet at Fitchburg State College. We're not from the area, but it was my mom's birthday and we wanted to get some dessert to celebrate. First of all, the woman who served us was extremely rude. When we ordered cream puffs, she asked us if we wanted her to put them in a box. We answered that we would eat them there, so we didn't need a box. But she then told us that everybody always took their pastries to go, and that if we were going to stay she was going to have to remove the books from the one table in the bakery. Her tone clearly conveyed to us that moving the books would be a nuisance for her, so we took our cream puffs to go. And boy were those cream puffs lacking. The "cream" inside was neither whipped cream nor custard. It was some crisco-based, thick grossness. Plus the cream puffs were soggy because the filling had been sitting in there too long. The only positive thing I can say is that they were only $1.25 a piece, so we didn't waste too much money. Wouldn't ever go back. read more

Excellent. Amazing. Great. All the words for this place! I called at 3 58 pm 2 mins before closing and asked if they could stay open 5 mins so I could pick something up for my mother who is recovering from surgery. They obliged without question! I walked into the store and couldn't make a decision because everything looked great. I ended up getting finger sized items. Cheesecakes, carrot cakes, cannolis, chocolate covered macaroons. My wife bought a tin of the Apple Crunch, and we ate some. The next day I took the leftover pie out of the refrigerator and happened to read the ingredients. It's made with PARTIALLY HYDROGENATED VEGETABLE OIL, which is a proven health hazard. They've even taken this ingredient out of Oreos because people are now aware of it. My wife figured she could trust the homemade, small-bakery vibe that the label implied to her. Nope. I threw the rest into the trash. Ask your doctor and especially your cardiologist about hydrogenated vegetable oil. Lard or butter would be much, much healthier for you. read more
