I'm not sure what all the hype is about for this place. Yes, it's a super cute joint with awesome service. However, I wasn't very blown away by the food. I had the grilled calamari, gnocchi with shrimp and tiramisu. The grilled calamari tasted a bit bland. I had to sprinkle a decent amount of salt to taste anything. The gnocchi felt overcooked and I got exactly 3 shrimps on my plate. The tiramisu was delicious though, although way too small for the price. Even though the food was just okay, I really enjoyed the wonderful service and complimentary orange shots. read more

Just had a fantastic meal at Bistro Albertino. The service was attentive, the food was excellent and the prices were reasonable. We sat down to dinner as a party of three at 6PM on a Monday night. Our waiter was quick to tell us the specials and offer us a complementary glass of wine. We ordered, the food arrived promptly and we dug in. The three of us were all impressed with what arrived on our plates. Everything tasted fresh and full of care. Flavors were balanced, portions were well-sized. It was one of those great meals that leaves you satisfied, not bloated and incapacitated for the rest of the night. Needless to say, we will be back. I came here on a Wednesday it was not real busy, I was seated immediately. The atmosphere is comfortable. I had grilled calamari and Penne Putanesca. The calamari were rubbery the pasta overcooked and the sauce was nothing special. In short nothing to come back to. The service was good but that's it. The price was somewhat steep considering you can get overcooked pasta in the Olive Garden for half price, with soup or salad. I guess that you can bring your own alcohol makes it attractive for some people. read more

Went here last Friday night for a casual birthday dinner. This restaurant came highly recommended by my anesthesiologist. We were so disappointed. I ordered Veal Piccante, which is an easy dish. I make at home all the time with chicken. First off the veal looked and tasted like shoe leather. I couldn't chew it. The lemon sauce was tasteless and watery, and the pasta was mushy. I tried my husbands meatballs, and I never tasted meatballs like these, they had a very funny taste of meat I didn't recognize. My husband and son felt the same way. They each had Penne Pasta w vodka. They said it was ok, but nothing to write home about. The bread was very good. It is a cute little byob, but don't expect awesome food, unless we just happened to order the wrong things! read more

I made reservations on Open Table for 8:15 on a Saturday night. We were greeted and seated right away. The staff was very attentive. We ordered a sauted calamari appetizer. It was fresh, tender and loaded with taste. My husband ordered the , stone bass. It was flakey, moist and cooked perfectly. It was paired with risotto and asparagus. Both were excellent. I ordered the ribeye steak. It was also paired with the asparagus but was served with deliciously roasted potatoes. Cooked to perfection and very tasty. I finished the meal with an espresso and the staff brought us both a complimentary limoncello. All in all a very good dining experience. We will surely return. read more

Excellent food and attentive, knowledgeable service. Starting with the appetizer, the special dish was very well prepared and substantial. The flavors went perfectly together. The main course of gnocchi in gorgonzola cream sauce was perfectly made; the gnocchi was fresh and homemade, and the sauce was near perfection. We dined here a Saturday evening and had a reservation which was honored. When we arrived half of the tables were filled. As we sat for too long a time for our server the remaining tables filled up. It looked as if there was the hostess, waiter and chef working the room and they could have used double the amount of wait-staff. We had to ask for bread, it took about half an hour to learn of the specials and once we ordered we had to wait once again for about 45 minutes for our food. The food was excellent but comically sparse on the plate. Two of us ordered the special which was striped bass marinated and baked in a delicious herb mixture. If the piece of fish was 4 ounces we were lucky. About nine sautéed sugar snap peas and two baby roasted potatoes cut in half came in the plate. The other two entrees at our table were enjoyed but once again a very small serving. We were offered complimentary Limoncello and dessert for the poor service, however we had to leave as we were already running late. read more

Had our company Christmas here today and everything was amazing. We told them there were a couple of vegetarians in our party when we made our reservations and they were so happy to say they would make any of their dishes over to accommodate us. I'd give 4.5 out of 5 if possible. Ifound Bistro Albertino online and picked it because it was centrally located for five of us who were looking to have dinner Friday night. It's a small BYO on York Road. If you sneeze, you may miss it. There's parking on the side of the building, so don't try to park in front. The restaurant was (surprisingly) empty for a Friday. We started with mussels in red, clams and caprese salad. All were excellent. Entrees included a risotto special, gnocchi in red and white, veal and a second risotto. Again, everyone enjoyed their meals and almost everyone brought some home. Portions were good - not too large, but certainly more than enough. Cheesecake was average, not exceptional, but the creme brûlée was excellent. Atmosphere is nice. The only minus, if you want to call it that, is the wait staff was very young and not very experienced. They did a good job and tried their best, but a more experienced team would have easily made it a 5 star experience. We all commented at the end that we were surprised how good it was, how few people were there. Definitely on our list to go again! read more

This is one of my go-to places in the area. It really does fill a unique space, as an Italian BYOB that is not also trying to be a pizza takeout place. My favorite is the Bistecca Albertino, which is sliced steak and pasta with a mushroom cream sauce. My husband loves their goat cheese gnocchi. Their specials are always worth a listen. Their menu is about fresh pasta and non-tomato based sauces. Their ambiance is upscale for the area - no pizza, good wine opening service. I was just disappointed in our visit tonight, since we've been going there since they opened. They usually offer a complimentary limencello, which is absolutely delicious. Tonight they were clearly very, very busy and I was happy to see that - I want them to do well. However, the table next to us, who were new, got limoncello. We did not. I don't know whether that was because they're limiting that to new customers or just to customers when they are not trying to free up a table. Having said that, we'll be back, because the food and the ambiance are that good. read more

Have been looking for good restaurants near my home, and was delighted to find Bistro Albertino. Went there for lunch yesterday--had a perfect chicken parmesan--pounded well (paillard), fabulous flavor. I asked for extra tomato sauce and was given more than enough (some places are so chintzy). I also asked for roasted potatoes as a side dish instead of pasta and was graciously accommodated. The potatoes were also cooked perfectly. My husband had a panini that he said was good. While the outside is unprepossessing, the inside ambiance is lovely and the owner a truly gracious host. I plan to become a regular. read more

South Philly comes to Willow Grove! My wife and I had a great meal at Bistro Albertino, a new BYOB family run restaurant. The service was impeccable and we felt like a member of the family coming over for dinner. Albertino came out of the kitchen to meet with us. The menu includes pasta, seafood, veal and chicken dishes but Albertino assured us that he could prepare a custom meal if we wanted something different. We shared a Caprese Salad, I had the Linguine Frutta di Mare and my wife had the Veal Marsala. Both meals were excellent and the price was right at $51. I have dined here at least 5-6 times over the past 2 years or so and it has always been a wonderful experience. The food has consistently been delicious, it is a small place with very few tables, so it's nice and peacefully quiet, you can have a conversation with your dinner companions without shouting. It is BYOB, and tables are dressed in white linen. The staff are always wonderful and we've never felt rushed. A tad on the pricey side, portions are adequate, but not likely to walk out with left overs to take home. One of my all time favorite places. read more

I visited Bistro Albertino twice, once on New Year's Eve. My boyfriend and I had amazing experiences both times! The wait staff was friendly and incredibly knowledgeable. Our food was amazing as well! I ordered the chicken Marsala. The chicken was good to perfection, and the Marsala sauce was exquisite, and had plenty of real mushrooms! My boyfriend ordered pasta with vodka sauce and was impressed as well. Probably the best part of the meal was the appetizer. We ordered the antipasta platter for the two of us to split. It addition to the meats and cheeses, it came with marinated vegetables. Overall we were very impressed, and the prices were pretty reasonable as well! read more

Quite possibly the most stunning popular restaurant I've ever eaten at. It is clear that the people of Willow Grove have numbed palates because this place is atrocious. The menu is like a pizza joint, and the food is laughably bland. Oh, and don't order the pork chop unless you want it totally dried out. A chef would serve that??? Nope. I recently visited my dear friend in Willow Grove, PA, when she suggested we try a new Italian BYOB near her residence: Bistro Albertino. As we pulled into the parking, I really couldn't get a good feel for what kind of dinning experience we should expect. The building lacks curb appeal and seems to have been a non-restaurant establishment, there is only one small window in the front entrance. To my surprise, upon entering, the place had a clean, fresh look that was quite appealing and pleasant. The walls seemed to have been refinished with an antique type stucco that gives it an old world feel. And, the Italian music that was playing only complimented the establishment. The menu was on the smaller side, but offered some really nice classic dishes and some more modern dishes. The menu was expanded with the special additions our server explained to us; Fresh tuna loin, Fettucini bolognese and some others that can't remember now. I ordered the Arugola salad with fresh lemon vinaigrette, gorgonzola cheese and cherry tomatoes. It was delicious! My friend ordered the caprese salad with fresh mozzarella and tomatoes and the mozzarella was creamy and soft with just the right amount of basil and olive oil, she loved it! I must say the portions were just perfect as well. Lastly, we ordered a linguini pescatora and a veal saltinboca. I was really impressed with presentation. The pasta was nice and hot and was cooked perfectly with a mound of seafood. The veal you could cut with a fork it was so tender and it was prepared with proscuitto and a cheese i could not recognize which i found out from the server was fontina. Very very good! Wonderful local byob! Server was great, a lot of knowledge about the menu and specials. First time there and we both got a complimentary glass of wine with dinner and homemade lemonciello with dessert--really nice touch. We got the calamari to start--very good! And I got the pesto shrimp with tagliatelle pasta. Delicious! The pasta is made fresh and it literally melted in your mouth! The portion was big! I took a lot home. Had the canolii for dessert--Delish!! The space is small -it was a Monday night, so we were the only ones there for a bit, it was quiet, but I could see it being bumping on a Saturday night!
