Waiting for my yummy Carmel macchiato.

The bonus to having coffee here is watching the ocean waves, and smelling the ocean breeze. The coffee I selected to keep me warm was a medium cup of Mocha. The service was quick. The stand has food to offer as well. Today I only opted for coffee. There are a few seats available to sit and enjoy. This location is literally at the the pier and steps away from the sand. This visit it was just a tad noisy due to construction nearby. But, the focus is quickly changed once you start sipping on your brew and enjoying the few. Stop by for a drink and maybe a bite, the view will make you want to take a break.

Came here at noon to grab a smoothie and a sandwich. There was a sign at the register that said "Gone to Lunch."

Not a 20 ounce coffee. The coffee he gave me that he said was 20 ounces that I paid for 20 ounces next to a 12 ounce can of soda.

I ordered the large 20 ounce mocha from this place in the cup that he handed me was clearly about 2 inches shorter than the 20 ounce cup so he had on display that I know very well because I've owned a restaurant. I questioned it I said, is this a large 20 ounce he said yes it's 20 ounce what more can I do? I just had to walk away. Now I wonder if there was two shots of espresso in it if it was just plain old coffee.

Great service! great food! Mike is super friendly! Such good energy, and he has tables and chairs facing the ocean

My good friend, FS & I were walking HAPA Boy on the boardwalk. It had been a while since I've actually made the walk down to the sand's edge. I had just passed under the pier and saw this quaint little coffee stand. I raised my ceramic mug of fresh brewed coffee from FS' place at the man @ behind the counter as he glanced my way; "Good morning!" He replied but I wasn't able to clearly hear him due to the breaking surf. I walked over, "Excuse me, couldn't hear you?" He repeated, I asked if you needed a refill? (Chuckles) I said, "I'm good but mahalo for the offer." Bistro @ the Pier - https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/bistro-at-the-pier-oceanside?select=23iZ_3DfTtGqPj1JqIxlTg Say hello to Roy, very nice, friendly, personable, and none too shy to strike up a conversation w/a complete stranger; my kinda person! Photo - https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/bistro-at-the-pier-oceanside?select=6sqtKFc9Ni3Q2q-nNkq7fQ We talked story for a bit; the 'Bistro @ the Pier," is just a mere four months young. As mentioned earlier, I haven't strolled down Oceanside Beach for some time. I didn't remember seeing a coffee stand so close to the pier which makes perfect sense since it only opened in NOV 2016. (Great location, BTW.) FS had walked over to "The Bait Shop," a little shop that sells bait along w/other touristy knick knacks. However, they sell pretty good cup of hot chocolate as well... 'Who would've thunk it?! (I have another friend, VH, who lives a stone's throw away from the pier; she swears by The Bait Shop's, hot chocolate.) Roy asked if I ever Lavazilla Coffee before, imported from Italy. I said no but will be sure to try some the next time I'm in the area. I only had a few sips left of my own coffee from the house earlier that morning. Roy: Want to try some? He poured about one third of a cup into my mug, enough for a good taste... 'And it was; full bodied, rich, and strong. By that time, FS had made her way back from The Bait Shop & we continued our morning walk. The next time I was @ the beach, I was with VH, and didn't have the HAPA with me on this particular visit. I'd told her about Bistro @ the Pier; we decided to grab a coffee and a bite. Our order - Brewed coffee; petite ($1.95) Good; fresh; strong; piping hot Hammerhead; medium ($3.75) Good; fresh; very strong; piping hot Photo - https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/bistro-at-the-pier-oceanside?select=HHd4Cpw_BMrQPtvwEpE2dw Otis Spunkmyer Blueberry Muffin (?.??) Just alright; prepackaged commercially made Photo: https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/bistro-at-the-pier-oceanside?select=uqDQFlagP7DEsZDWqfX02g Total cost: $7.70 (I'm not sure on the actual cost of the muffin was but if I had to guess, about $1.50.) So, what's a "Hammerhead?" It's a cup of brewed coffee w/two shots of espresso. (I asked Roy if he could pour some Half & Half in to help cut the acidity.) Like the first time I stopped by with FS, the coffee was good... 'And strong. VH usually prefers a medium roast, breakfast blend; I'd be fine with that BUT my preference is dark roast and strong, something with a bit of kick. The Hammerhead did not disappoint. VH & I took a seat and sat quietly, enjoying the morning while watching the handful of surfers catching waves just off the pier, joggers, dog walkers, and other people doing the same... I laugh because less than a year ago, I was living in Solano County. Prior to that, I had lived in Southern California for over 15 years; didn't think moving was going to be too hard... The moving was easy; getting acclimated to the area was an entirely different story, two years felt like twenty and I think I aged twice that amount. The best way to describe it would be surreal on a acid trip... Yeh, think about that for a moment. (i.e. - F*k'n nuts) SoCal withdrawals, it exists! By month 18, I was already making plans to return to Southern California... Even if I had to beg, scrape, crawl, or steal from my momma, I was returning to SoCal! One way or another, it was just a matter of when. My apologies, I digress. (ADHD plus caffeine can go either way.) Sitting near us were two older gentlemen and from their friendly banter with Roy, appeared to be Bistro regulars as well. The two talked shop about cars with Roy, who sounded like an old school grease monkey himself. it was actually kind've impressive. (Truth be told, a lot of it sounded Greek to me.) I missed many things about SoCal; quiet mornings filled with the salt air, sounds of the beach playing in the background, while drinking coffee @ the beach was high on my list of things immensely missed. Photo - https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/bistro-at-the-pier-oceanside?select=D-EYbjyGle7hp-GVLP8NRg Mahalo Roy, for the aloha! A hui hou! 'Until next time! Overall rating: 5 stars - Big Aloha! Food: 3 (Otis Spunkmyer Blueberry Muffin) Ambiance: 5 Service: 5 Value: 5+ (Good coffee on the beach in the am, priceless.)

Ordered Mexican mocha. Paid $10 for that and a can of soda. Mocha was so bad we had to throw it away. Service was good but bad coffee.

With both indoor and outdoor seating, plus a dog-friendly patio, it's an easy place to meet friends or enjoy a quiet morning. This place has such a loyal following that people will happily walk a few blocks just to get their Revo fix. One of my favorite things is their seasonal menu. I've learned to fully embrace each special while it's here because once it's gone, it's gone. Right now, I'm completely obsessed with the Coconut Mango Sticky Rice Matcha. I'm pretty sure the baristas recognize me as "the Sticky Rice Matcha lady" at this point! I'm soaking up every sip while it's in season, and although I'll be sad when it's gone, I know they'll surprise me with something amazing next season. Their food is just as impressive. The toast is delicious, they use Prager Brothers bread, organic avocado, and fresh tomatoes, and you can really taste the difference that quality ingredients make. It's refreshing to find a café that clearly cares about food integrity. Another huge bonus for me is that they offer almond milk. So many coffee shops default to oat milk, but I appreciate having another option that fits my preferences. The only downside is the parking. My strategy is simple: go early if you can. Once it gets busy, finding a spot can be an adventure. But even with that minor inconvenience, Revolution Roasters is absolutely worth the trip. Incredible coffee, thoughtful seasonal drinks, quality ingredients, and a team that clearly cares about what they serve. Easy five stars.
