First time at this Pannikin. It occupies the space of a former bank from the late 1800 and those bricks look really cool historic building reconverted into a great coffee shop. I like the patios, so pleasant and spacious and those characteristic yellow umbrellas. The inside is also really nice with comfy and beautiful chairs, wallpaper, wall decor and comfy sofa. About the food...pastries could improve. Sometimes is not about the big size but the flavor. Easy parking across the street from the patio entrance. read more

I had planned to study at the library across the street and found it full so came here instead. Seating and vibes are 10/10. It's beautiful inside and there's tons of seating with even more outside. Quiet music. Many outlets available for customers. Highly recommend for studying. I found the service to be friendly as well. However I really did not enjoy the coffee as it was extremely watery. Unfortunately it was more expensive than a fancier latte I had from Camp Coffee that same day. I love a good Vietnamese coffee and Pannikin has a great one! Just enough sweetness and definitely enough espresso to get you through the day. I also love that the default size is 16oz. If you're going to order any food too, the banana cream pie is divine!! So much whipped cream it isn't funny and the banana filling is sweet as can be. A piece is definitely shareable with others. The Oceanside location is huge--tons of seating inside and more outside. There are outlets inside to bring your laptops and stay all day. The high ceilings, large windows and fresh breeze are so refreshing. You can honestly take an interview from outside and not be disturbed! Cute coffee (plus) shop. We are visiting the area for the holiday weekend and this place is a short walk away. We used that as a reason to get out and enjoy the beautiful weather and a coffee and treat. Ordered by our table: rose tea latte, salted caramel latte (very sweet), iced coffee, cookie butter latte (sweet) and a slice of banana cream pie (as good as the one I make). Fair prices, amazing selection, well made everything. I was seated in an area to watch and hear orders. Everything was made and prepared at a good pace. No one was waiting too long. This spot has a big menu and even bigger seating areas. Whatever vibe you are looking for this spot has it. You can sit in th front on the porch, inside on a couch, or in the back with the sunshine. Really nice aesthetic, and super good avocado toast. I came a bit later in the day but my matcha was filled with so much foam. I took a photo for reference before I took a sip. I do not need matcha foam. I even order whole milk so it's not like I got expensive oat or something. It is what it is, I'll say something next time I go. Took an out of town friend downtown s she could see how much Oceanside has changed over the last few decades since she lived here. We wanted to get a bite before going down to Old Town for her to catch the airport shuttle. She had the Greek Eggs and drip coffee, which she liked. I'd had neigh coffee so just had the bagel with egg and cheese. I was hungry,nit was good just very bland. If there was cheese, it was minimal. Guess I expected more for $10. Everything we had here was a let down, extremely dry scones and overly strong coffee to the point where adding sugar didn't even save it. A nice little neighborhood shop to pop into! My family and I stayed in Oceanside, CA for the week. Pannikin was right around the corner from our Airbnb and was how we started our day! The coffee and pastries are nice, lots of options. HUGE cups of coffee. But what was really helpful was the turf area behind the shop! So happy this preserved bank location (prior coffee shop) was selected for Pannikin! They've really updated the space and surrounding patios and I love that Pannikin is now closer to me too. It's very easy to walk to and park near (if you find open parking in downtown). They have two entrances so you can access the shop from two different streets (Cleveland and Civic Center). The line doesn't seem as crazy here usually, but the baristas are quite fast with drinks so that probably helps to keep their constant customer flow going. In my recent visit, my husband and I ordered the cafe Mexican mocha and the iced Keith Richards, respectively. My go to is the Jimi Hendrix, but I decided to switch it up. First, I have to say I love that they gave me my iced coffee in their hot cups but that they doubled the cups so my coffee would stay colder longer (and wouldn't drink everywhere). It was great to use! I did enjoy the Keith Richard's, but I really do love that shot of hazelnut in the Jimi Hendrix. This location did make the drink exactly as expected too, great quality at every location. My husband really enjoyed his Mexican mocha as well. Honestly what's not to like? The outdoor seating is in a private patio and offers umbrellas if your prefer shade or plenty of sunny spots if you're looking for a cozy spot to warm up. The staff is fantastic and always fast to greet their customers. They offer a variety of food options from cakes, to breakfast bars, and even housemade scratch breakfasts. If I'm looking for a quick bite I opt to their pecan bar, or coffee cake, and if I'm looking for a warm breakfast their tacos are fantastic. I placed an online order before making the drive all the way down to this super cute coffee place and apparently my order was cancelled. She apologized for this misunderstanding and took care of a little treat for me for the inconvenience. I love Pannikan. You can go down, post up with your laptop and have a latte and slice of banana cream pie. You can request real dish ware which is something that's important to me because I think the disposable cups and plates are a health and environmental hazard. I've never cared for the Encinitas location, but I welcome this spot (mostly because I despise Starbucks for opening nearby). I truly value being a customer at all of the non-corporate coffee shops in the area.... I ordered a hot Keith Richards (basically espresso in hot cocoa) and a warmed lemon bar at the recommendation of my barista. The coffee was smooth but lost its foam fast. The lemon bar was big enough to share, and interesting. It was cake-like in texture and not overly sweet... I expected it to be chewy but was not disappointed. Everyone was so nice! I loved the ambience and decor. There's a bit of seating all around the courtyard, the front, and some inside. I can see this place getting awfully crowded though. Overall, it's quite pricey but I will definitely be back, even if to just buy a bag of beans. I have heard good things about Pannikin in Encinitas. Over holiday break I discovered this gem had opened so I had to try it out. I must say I love the building and it's not just any ordinary building. As an Oceanside local I love that this is in The 1886 Theodore Bunker building and this building is finally getting the love it deserves! Today was my first time trying the coffee and I am telling all the locals that they must give this new coffee spot some love. The breakfast bagel sandwich An absolute must try! It comes with scrambled eggs and cheese, but you get to choose what kind of bread you would like. You can choose between: toast or choice between sesame, cinnamon, raisin, everything seasoned, or plain bagel. The sandwich was bomb!! PANNIKIN COFFEE & TEA is Now Open Located in downtown Oceanside, this new café is located in the old Bunkerhouse building on Cleveland St. (across from the Salt Apartments) They have a small patio-seating area in front, a bigger patio area along the side and a huge seating area in the back. You can also sit inside and enjoy the cute earthy ambiance with your meal. I appreciate the preservation of the old brick house vibes and that the decor isn't too trendy or "hipster". I love their clean bathrooms as well and the quaint sitting area just outside. Their menu consists of many fresh-made pastries including: cookies, empanadas, pies, cakes, croissants, muffins and more. There's also favorites like: breakfast tacos, breakfast burritos, breakfast bagels, avocado toast, lox bagel sandwiches, hue is rancheros and chicken wraps. All of this, in addition to their coffee selection that includes: espressos, lattés, teas, matcha, hot cocoa and mochas. I can't wait to see what they do with all their space and I look forward to live music performances or maybe comedy nights. While there are a plethora of coffee shops in downtown Oceanside, I like that this one is a little out of the way from the crowds and has less commotion than most. Good coastal vibes with nice outdoor seating and cool ambience. Boats a lot of tasty looking pastries (that we didn't try). Did not have a great experience, but the manager gave us a gift card because of how long we had to wait for the ordered food (not bakery items). Two of us in our party ordered a breakfast burrito and breakfast tacos, which took over 30 minutes to bring out (after asking about it a couple of times). It did not seem busy enough for the food to take that long. The second order of the exact same items came out 15 minutes later (for a total of 45 minutes). The food was just okay and a bit lackluster. Also, the coffee was not good (Americano); tasted over extracted and bitter. If we didn't have a negative experience, I would give it 3 stars. I do appreciate the manager trying to redeem it, but it was overall disappointing for how long we had to wait for the ordered food. Maybe more success if you do not order sit down food. read more

I have been very attracted to this old building for quite some time; she is a gorgeous old soul. It was known as the Bunker Building in honor of the first owner, and they had lots of business going on in this place. She is still quite the elegant lady today - dressed in her vintage colors and style - I wanted to paint her from the outside, so I did. I had to go inside to get a "feel" for the building. Artists are sensitive people and we get more of a story of places from the inside. It has a happy energy to it - it's got a past, like many of us, we all got baggage. This beautiful brick building has stood strong right on this spot since the mid 1880's! If you look at the bricks, they are darn near glued atop on another, the cement line is very thin. They used to build things that last back in them days. Today it is known as the Pannikin Coffee Shop; pannikin means a small metal cup. (I'll bet you didn't know that!) They have very sweet servers in there and I enjoyed the lemon bar, which is enough to feed 3 people! I also had the Martinelli apple juice which comes in a glass apple shaped container. I will definitely go back for their lunch menu this week, since I will be in Oceanside. Give Pannikin a try - it's a step back into happy memories. read more
