Long time customer here. Ordered dinner this evening and the driver arrived with one bag. Turns out the sushi my husband ordered did not arrive. We called the restaurant and they told us we need to contact the driver (we ordered directly from their website). We tried that and the driver states he only received one bag and hung up. Called the restaurant back and they told us they can't help. They said they would call us back and didn't. We called back and they hung up. We called back multiple times until someone gave us a manager no - Kate I believe. Called and had 5 seconds to explain before she also hung up. Food is food but not worth the terrible customer service they have. Outsourcing their delivery drivers and there being a problem does NOT make it a customer issue. Disputing charge with the bank. Came here yesterday with my husband and a couple of friends because we were craving Chinese food and sushi; Bistro Dragon did not disappoint! Upon walking in, we were seated immediately. The place doesn't look too special inside like the pictures on social media. You could barely see the lights in the back wall, and there were no tablecloths on the tables. It looks more elegant in the website photos than in reality. It was also like 100 degrees in the restaurant when we were there, so I think their AC was out on the hottest day of the year. We almost ended up walking out because the door was open, and all of the 115-degree heat was creeping in. It wasn't good for us, especially my friend who is pregnant. I can't imagine how the workers felt being there all day. Despite the heat, our service was great, and our waitress was patient and attentive. Because it was our first time there, it took us a little longer to figure out what we wanted, but she continued checking in on us. Most importantly, the food was amazing, and the menu is extensive and includes sushi entrées, Chinese food entrées, stir-fry entrees, and more! My husband, one of my friends, and I ordered Kung-Fuze'd boxes ($19.95), and we were so happy with our choices. With a Kung-Fuze'd box, you get to order soup or salad, an appetizer, 2 entrées, and a side (different rices). I ordered the miso soup, crab rangoon, the spicy tuna roll, the spicy salmon roll, and fried rice. Everything was DELICIOUS and well-prepared. The sushi had a perfect balance of rice and fish, and the crab rangoon didn't just taste like cream cheese like most places. Instead, it tasted more like the imitation crab mixture. We were in the mood for a new spot, and needed delivery so thought it was a good time to try out Bistro Dragon. Food arrived quickly and fresh. Started with the Mexican roll which had a ton of flavor and just the right compliment of ginger and wasabi. 5/5 Next was the Haru Roll. This has tuna, salmon, king crab, asparagus, mango, avocado, and is wrapped in cucumber. Loved the freshness of the roll but found the cucumber wrap a bit cumbersome to eat. Still, very good 4/5 Last was the General Tso's Chicken, which had good flavor and packed enough of a punch, but not too spicy. We ordered fried rice but received white rice, so I have to knock a half point off. 3.5/5 Overall Bistro Dragon gets a 4/5 from me. I'd definitely come back for the sushi. Got a carryout order of crispy steak, orange chicken, and fried rice here and thought it was alright. The portion sizes were fairly large, in line with what you'd expect for the prices charged. The flavors were alright for me, not the best Americanized Chinese I've had but also not bad. The ingredient quality seemed to be a little better than average but I didn't care much for the flavor combinations and found that it overall lacked wok hay. Maybe it's a better experience when getting the food for dine-in, but when I had it shortly after carryout the entrees weren't really crispy at all and it felt a bit more saucy / watery than similar preparations elsewhere. read more

This is my first review ever written and it's because I need to voice this terrible negative review. This experience was beyond frustrating. The service was completely disorganized. Our sushi orders were messed up multiple times, and even after confirming with the staff again and again, rolls still came out wrong or missing. We basically had to do their job for them--recounting and checking because they couldn't get it right. It honestly felt like a simple counting issue they just couldn't handle. On top of that, the sushi itself was terrible. The rice would fall apart the moment you picked it up, and nothing about the taste or presentation made up for the poor quality. To make matters worse, they tried to overcharge our group by automatically adding a 24% gratuity for a party over six--even though the menu clearly states 18%. It felt sneaky and unprofessional, and we had to point it out ourselves. Between the sloppy service, disappointing food, and shady billing practices, this was one of the worst sushi dining experiences I've had. Definitely would not recommend. read more

The servings (we had takeout) were more than adequate, but the food was in huge pieces. They really need to make it more palatable, we had to cut the meat and veggies before eating. The food was pretty good which is what I expected since I have dined at the owner's two restaurants in Arlington Heights - Sun Shui and Bistro Chen but it did not quite measure up. The fried rice was not good and we only ate about half of it. Also, she tried charging us extra for the uneaten fried rice. Told her that I would not be paying that since the fried rice was not good. The bottom of the check stated "Recommended Cash payment with a Cash Discount." When I asked Deeja how much the discount was, she said that it did not apply to us since the All You Can Eat Sushi was already discounted. The rice was not sticky or tacking to each other. Every time I went to pick up my sushi it would fall apart. And we found hair on the rolls. Also for two specialty rolls and two basic rolls and one app almost came out to 60 bucks. We also didn't get the gyoza sauce. I don't know it was kinda sloppy today unfortunately. We had a gift card for GrubHub and thought to use it at Bistro Dragon. It turns out, they wouldn't accept it so we had to pay cash. The review only gets worse from here. The one star that Bistro Dragon is getting, is because the food arrived so quickly and because the beef of the Mongolian beef seemed to be of good quality. The spring rolls were flavorless and hard and lacking any mouth appeal. I don't even know what was inside. The nigiri was awful. It was not thickly sliced, was unattractive looking, and neither the salmon, tuna or yellowtail tasted fresh. I was most disappointed in the yellowtail from which I was expecting a little bit of sweetness in the fish. The salmon was flavorless and faint peach colored. Furthermore, the presentation looked awful. I don't remember the tuna having any remarkable flavor. The tamago sushi was sweet and had texture. It was okay, nothing special but not awful. We ordered Mongolian beef, and the beef was tender and thickly cut. It had a nice flavor although nothing exciting. The scallions were few and far between and the white onions were saturated with oil and the white onion flavor drowned out everything else. The crunchy cellophane noodles were a soaked blob in brown sauce which I think had a lot of MSG soy sauce in it. The fried rice was flavorless and as oily as most fried rice often is. We asked for no MSG soy sauce and received three of the stereotypical, regular soy sauce plastic packets...for our whole meal! For the money that you spend at this place, you're better off going somewhere else. I should say that I wasn't very surprised by what we got because this is a Pan Asian place and often times these places are generalists and average at everything but special at nothing. read more

So , I have been to a lot of different sushi places .. however my heart always comes back to bistro ! It's nestled into a neighborhood strip mall. And don't forget they CLOSE on Monday's I have had maybe every roll On the me in, but my favorites are- volcano , mermaid and Aki roll ! I didn't go 1 star, because they weren't unfriendly. Just didn't speak good English. Food was terrible. Spoiled fish mostly, oxidized pink tuna. Sushi lovers know what I mean when I say that. Bad taste left in mouth. Asked for water with lemon and a straw. She gave me water, no lemon and no straw. They don't offer all-you-can-eat, which is nuts in today's market and being a small place in an odd location with low quality eats. Menu sucks as well. Sad this place has to be so bad. Price for what you get is very poor. Sushi rolls were not prepared well and apparently all the rolls have cream cheese in them?? Black Dragon roll says (on Doordash) "black peppercorn tuna and avocado over crab mix and asparagus". What we got was something fried with some shredded crab and cream cheese with tuna and a paste on top?? Gross. The eel cucumber roll was falling apart also. Hunan beef was good but still small, and the pork fried rice lacked flavor. We'll try and combine the two at home to make them taste better. Very disappointed in a crazy expensive bill for very little poorly prepared not flavorful food. If you're out look elsewhere for some quick eats. read more

Years ago, my son and I stopped in here about a month after they opened. We sat at the sushi bar where the owner prepared our sushi. There were not many other patrons in there that evening, and the owner seemed a little concerned, saying he expected better turnout during this start up period. He was a very nice gentleman and was very proud to proclaim that he uses only the freshest ingredients. Ever the optimist, I told him that we were really enjoying our sushi, and if the rest of his Asian offerings were anything like this, word of mouth would bring him more business. I was proud to see on future visits that indeed the place was catching on. After eating here fifty times or so afterwards, I can vouch for the "freshness" he boasted about. My family and friends have also loved it. I never see the original owner anymore and I wonder if it's changed hands. I don't think the food has slipped, but more mistakes have been made on takeout orders and sometimes the vibe isn't as friendly. Still, the sushi and sashimi is great, and they have some interesting takes on other dishes, some that I like and others not so much. But that is based on my expectations of how that dish should be made, and not on it being made poorly. The orange chicken is filled with flavor and often you can see and taste the orange zest in the dish. Yummy! The shrimp in lobster sauce uses nice looking fresh tasting shrimp, but the sauce is almost identical to egg drop soup. Some may like it that way. It is Asian fusion after all. A couple weeks ago, I ordered my food from Bistro Dragon and had tons of issues ordering. I ordered a pad thai without the vegetables and their sesame chicken. One girl could not understand my order of the pad thai without vegetables, do you still want sauce? She asked me. And I said yes, I do, just no vegetables. She was confused not because of a language barrier but because she must not have had an order with a change in it beforeand had to hand the phone off to someone else to take the order. In the end they told me 15 minutes for my order. When I went to pick up my order it turned out she was new and I think they said her name was Jessica. I understand asking for no vegetables is a strange request, but to ask if I still wanted sauce was a bit odd. I showed up 25 minutes later to pick up my order and it was not yet ready. I paid and waited an additional 10 minutes for my order which was a bit awkward as I sat on a chair in front of the chair as people came to eat at the sitdown restaurant. At the end of the day, had the food been great, all would be forgiven. Sadly, the food was not good, my order was still wrong (had some vegetables in the pad thai but was missing others) and the prices are expensive here. The sesame chicken was good but nothing great that I would get again. The pad thai was not only an incorrect order, but it was quite bland and flavorless. I ate a fourth of it and ended up throwing the rest out. I've heard they have good lunch specials and sushi here so I'm willing to give it another try, but so far not a great experience at Bistro Dragon. read more

Evidently, there IS good Chinese food in the area. Who knew?? My sister has been raving and raving about this place near her office we HAVE to go to. So we went last week. It was friggin' awesome! Great service by, my new favorite server, Ming. We totally over ordered on our first visit, but it was worth it. We were able to try a little more food than we normally would have. Their food was FRESH and delicious. We began our adventure with the egg rolls and the crab rangoon my sister insisted we try. I was glad I'm a pushover cause they were both wonderful. Their food is not greasy at all. In fact, because everything is so fresh, it's hard to tell it was deep fried at all. Their dipping sauces were even tasty! I have never ordered Hot & Sour Soup anywhere, so I can't compare, but I can tell you this---their hot & sour soup is incredible! It is like egg drop soup with chicken, tofu, carrots and has a little kick. I can tell you the next time I'm sick with a head cold, I'll be sending my boyfriend here to get me soup. Ming recommended their Crispy Honey Flank Steak. It had a nice flavor but was a little chewy to me. We also ordered some General Tao's Chicken and Chicken Chow Mein. After we placed our order, Ming arrived back at our table just to confirm we wanted Chow Mein, and we insisted this was what we wanted. We were wrong. It was the Lo Mein we meant to order (the thick noodles). Our fault....we should have listened to him. :( Not to worry, we remembered last night on our second trip in the last week. Ming was there again to serve us. He is so nice. What a treat! We brought my boyfriend this time and got pot stickers in addition to our appetizer spread! Wow. That's all i can say. I really think we can just go for apps and soup next week. By the time the food comes, I'm full from the soup and apps. I had the soup again and of course, it rocked. We tried the Lemon Sesame Chicken this time and it was very good. The quality chicken they use is moist and the breading is not over-bearing at all. I just really love the ingredients they use here. While I have enjoyed my experiences at this establishment, I must mention that I have encountered some concerning behavior from the older Asian gentleman on two occasions. Despite the menu offering the item I requested, he has loudly stated "NO" to my request. I cannot determine if this is due to my skin color, but it is highly disrespectful to be spoken to in such a manner. Additionally, I have recently experienced discomfort in my stomach after consuming sushi at this location. While the ambiance is pleasant, the attitudes of the waiter and older gentleman have been unpleasant. I kindly suggest that the staff strive to be more welcoming and respectful towards their guests.
