Some of the best crab Rangoons I've ever had. Chicken fried rice was pretty okay. Egg rolls were horrible. Do not get the egg rolls.

Today, we tried a new Chinese food restaurant in Elk Grove Village. We were excited to try a new place. The establishment is simple...no indoor seating, just take out. The lady behind the counter was very friendly and our call in order was ready upon arrival I got the Sesame Chicken and my wife got the beef szechawan. The egg rolls are HUGE and we were excited for them. Unfortunately, they were just . Ok. Little bit of a gamey after taste. Her beef was ok in flavor but her fried rice was completely dried out and seemed stale. My white rice was the same. The Sesame chicken was hard as a rock. My plastic fork could barely pierce the chicken! We are almost sure that all this good was refried or reheated from the day prior. Very disappointing I gave them a star for service and pricing. We have ordered from Peking Express since the summer of 2020. They always prepared our orders per our request and delivered the food promptly. It was always hot and tasty. Our most recent order (Aug 2025) was delivered by a third party service. The food took 40-minutes to be delivered (based on the service notification sent to my phone saying the order was collected). The driver called me multiple times and still drove past my house several times. The driver blamed GPS and the restaurant for the delivery delays. Needless to say, the food arrived cold. In the past, Peking staff delivered our orders. They were polite and prompt. Of not for the deliver service on our most recent order, I would have given them 4.5 stars. I would advise you to confirm how they plan to deliver your order before placing your it. read more

Was this the best orange chicken and fried rice I've ever had? No. Was it the most quantity for the price that I've had in this area? You bet. Food overall is very good. And they are very very generous with the portions. One lunch special easily lasts 2 days if not more. Will definitely order again from here. As far as fast food Chinese, this is hard to beat. Cheaper than everything else around, large portions, and good flavor. You won't find better unless you're willing to visit a proper sit-down Chinese restaurant for 3x the price. read more

On Wednesday we ordered food from this establishment and we have ordered from this before, but it's been a while. It had to be the worst Chinese meal we've had from there ever it was lacking flavor. It was not done all the way through the vegetables are still not cooked and we had two dinners and some extra rice but that was it and for $37 it was very expensive for what we got. I don't recommend the place it used to be good. I don't know if there's new managers or new owners, but I definitely would not go back. read more

Never order online before noon. Placed an order at 11 when they open. Got the confirmation that it was to be ready at 11:20. At 11:35 the door is locked and I now have to wait because they are stuck in traffic. When I told her inside she shouldn't open until noon she said nothing. 40 min and lunch still is not ready. It's bad bc their food is delicious but not worth the hassle to get it. read more

The food is I feel better than decent..depending on the dish. I have had the Mongolian beef more than anything else and that is probably the best dish they have. Its not too greasy and tastes pretty good. I gave an extra star because their egg rolls are actually pretty good. They have a little peanut butter in it which gives it some good balance plus I can actually taste the meat inside it. Have had the kung pao chicken (ok), general taos chicken (very greasy for obvious reasons). I have found that if I have a taste for something specific, I need to go to that respective restaurant. I will go elsewhere for other dishes, but they have good Mongolian beef. read more

I'm really picky when it comes to Chinese food as I grew up going to China Town every weekend as a kid, and I've had more than my share of Chinese food. I can only think of a handful of places that I can say are good & this is 1 of them. This is a no frills, little family owned place (which I've found are usually the best). They have an awesome selection on their lunch/dinner specials & the price can't be beat. 1 thing that stood out for me is that it comes with an Egg Roll AND 1 Crab Rangoon, most places only offer the egg roll OR 1 Crab Rangoon. I don't much care for egg rolls & usually skip it but I have tasted this 1 & I count it amongst the good ones. The Crab Rangoon is delicious it's 1 of my favorites, the fried rice is delicious too. My husband usually gets the fried rice combo Special which is chicken, shrimp & BBQ fried rice with an egg roll. You get so much rice that he has enough for 2 more meals. Their dinner special is usually enough for my dinner, lunch the next day, and then some. So far I've had their Sweet & Sour Shrimp, Egg Foo Young & Beef & Pea Pods and I have not been disappointed. I don't know why some reviews were bad regarding the amount of food they've gotten as I've always gotten more than enough. All in all I give it 4 stars because everything and everyone always has room for improvement. Try it, you won't be disappointed. read more

I have quickly become a fan of Peking Express. Wish I had asked for all white meat on my chicken dish on my first visit, but you live and you learn, I guess. I have been here a few times in the past few months as our office moved recently to the area. These folks offer lunch specials with white or fried rice for about 6 bucks. There is a WIDE variety of dishes to choose from. You can really eat on the cheap. My favorite part: due to the large portions, you can make a second lunch the next day out of one meal. Score. I was surprised to find the fried rice on the lunch special was actually chicken fried rice. You don't find that anywhere. Good job, PE!! They have a small dining area. Not the most spacious or comfortable as there is a lot of foot traffic in and out of the place to pick up their to-go orders but you can eat in when you need that inevitable break from your office. read more

This was my first experience at Peking Express and I'll start by saying I plan to try it again. On a very cold day, I decided to grab something and bring it back to the office. Opened up my Yelp app to see what was right in the area of my office - Peking Express got good reviews and was about a mile away so I called and ordered Pork Egg Foo Yong. The restaurant is small, as might be expected from a restaurant with "express" in the name. It was a little hard to find - it is in a strip mall, but the mall wraps around to the east, and it does not face the main street. In fact, there were a few small restaurants right next to each other on the side of the strip mall. (Others to try later on...) The owners run the show. An older Chinese couple man the front. The counter is walk-up and there is a large menu, with pictures, above the counter. There were a half a dozen tables or so in a small area. They had my order ready when I arrived, but I saw someone having soup, so I opted to add a small Hot and Sour to my order. It took a few more minutes and I had a nice chat with the owners while I waited. When I paid, before I left, I said thank you in Mandarin (I don't speak Mandarin, just know how to say thank you), and they seemed genuinely delighted. Now, the food. The Hot and Sour soup was just okay. It was hot when I got back to my office, but not spicy. There was very little pork and a lot of tofu. Lunch orders come with fried rice and an egg roll. The egg roll looked really good. Perhaps you need to eat it right out of the deep fryer, but mine was a little soggy. It did taste good though. The Egg Foo Yong was chock full of fresh vegetables. It was doused in the tradition thick brown sauce, but not overly so. The fried rice was good. Like other reviewers, I was struck by the amount of food. There were two large pieces of Egg Foo Yong, and mounds of fried rice. Clearly, it is more than one meal and is a great value. So, excluding my comments about the egg roll and hot and sour soup, this would rate four stars for the quality and quantify of food for the price. But, I'm knocking one off for the previously mentioned two food items. As said above, I will be back to give it another go. I have to say, their lunch menu was fine, but the dinner menu looked much better. Looking forward to trying something off the dinner menu next time around. read more

So disappointed in my once favorite place. My 2 latest orders of "medium" spicy Mongolian shrimp had to be rinsed at the sink it was so hot. No more of that. The Generals Tsos chicken was always fresh and tender. Tonight the great sauce was full of overcooked dried out chicken. No more of that either. So disappointed. So, I'm not a Chinese food connoisseur or anything, but I have a few things that are non-negotiables for me to think a Chinese place is good: 1) Awesome egg rolls (you know, not just cabbage...and a delicious gooey inside with a crispy outside), 2) Not dry or hard fried rice (I'll actually take a little grease here), 3) Flavorful (spicy if I ask for it!) and not super greasy sauces, and 4) Meat that isn't fatty or iffy. Peking Express certainly delivered on the egg roll front. These have got to be the biggest and best egg rolls I have ever had. I honestly would come here just to eat egg rolls for a snack. They were THAT delicious. The rest though? Eh. The portions were GIGANTIC, I will give them that. But the actual food was just okay. It was kind of bland and the meat wasn't very good. The Mongolian Beef actually had some spice, which was a nice change since most Chinese places don't really spice it up and then it ends up tasting like every other beef dish on the menu, but it was also covered in tiny little crunchy noodles (?) which turned me off. The lo mein noodles didn't really taste like much of anything either and just seemed really plain. If you want HUGE portions at a decent price (and quick delivery!), this is your Chinese joint. 'Slong as your not picky about your food. If you have discerning taste, stick with the appetizers and call it a day. read more

I work near by, so sometimes I pick up lunch special from here. The prices are really good for what you get. I usually get mongolian beef or hunan beef, and they're both pretty good. You get fried rice, the dish, an eggroll, and sauces all in one container, and it's enough to keep me full for lunch. I go to Wonton if I want a sit down type Chinese food, but if you're in a hurry, and need to pick up quick, it's hard to beat this place! read more

I don't know what people were talking about when they said the service was poor- it's a Chinese takeout restaurant! My husband and I stopped here after a long flight into ORD and the cashier was extremely friendly and helpful. The food was delicious, and the portions were HUGE! You definitely get your money's worth so come hungry. I just want to add that the potstickers are the size of snowballs, and completely and utterly delicious! So glad I ordered some for takeout! This place is awesome! Not only is the food made to order, delicious, and inexpensive, the staff is a delight. They provide such quality service, I ended up spending my lunch hour speaking with the owners (husband, wife, and their son) for almost the full hour! The whole family is so sweet! They owned two restaraunts in Chicago, and now have their customers coming from Chicago to their Elk Grove location. That should tell you something, because a lot of people in the city refuse to travel to the burbs for anything, let alone Chinese food when there are so many other good places in Chicago. The quality of their food is exceptional. Their meat is top quality (especially compared to a lot of other, more expensive places in the area), your meal arrives fast and fresh, and their lunch specials are one heck of a deal. I love chop suey and have a hard time finding it at most places. This place is close to my work. They only list pork on the menu but they have chicken, shrimp, beef, and combination chop suey if you ask for it. If you order a lunch special, it comes with rice and an egg roll. This place has a lot of diet soda choices if you're a diet soda drinker like myself. Like Diet Dr. Pepper Cherry, Diet Gingerale, Coke Zero, Diet Coke, Diet Coke Cherry, Diet ... few more I forget. Their food is not very heavy or salty. Feels healthy and it's not that expensive... IF YOU'RE PAYING $6-8 AT MC DONALD'S or WENDY'S, then this is a BARGAIN. I've tried other dishes like Shrimp and Broccoli... Their Menu has a variety so there's something for everyone. Large portions. Not a 5 only because I usually order takeout.. and they forgot silverware once... I'm kind of a nitpick like that. Come on... I'm taking it to go!!! Where the hell do I get a spoon or chopsticks? Awesome! Mongolian beef is as good as it gets. Perfect balance between smoky, sweet & spicy. The fried rice is not greasy and actually contains good white meat chicken. The rangoons are out of this world and so are the egg rolls - which are very unique. You must try them to really know what I mean :) The service is great - very friendly folks & this is family owned. Cheap food, huge portions, and super friendly staff! I ordered the kung pao shrimp and hot and sour soup for delivery to my hotel and they brought it right to my door! I neglected to tell them I wanted to pay with card when I placed my order but the delivery guy was super nice about it. He just had me call the restaurant and pay over the phone. The shrimp had just the right amount of kick to it but had more celery than shrimp. The soup was a little thin but had good flavor. We ordered $35 worth of food two dinners two appetizers. Never again. Went right to the garbage. Egg foo young was tasteless except for what I believe to be recooked chicken. There was about 3 tablespoons of sauce on the sweet and sour chicken. The ragoons were over fried the potstickers were too thick on the dough and the teriyaki beef was hardly teriyaki I don't know what it was but I had to brush me teeth after to get rid of the awful aftertaste.
