Really cute and cozy spot at Kaido Sushi! I love omakase, but when you don't have time to sit through a full multi-course experience, this is the perfect alternative. You still get high-quality bites, and the presentation lets you visualize exactly how much food you can enjoy at once. Great option when you want something fun, delicious, and efficient!

Kaido Sushi came as a top sushi recommendation to me from another Yelp Elite and it did not disappoint. It's located in a strip mall and the inside isn't overly large. One can sit at a table or the main sushi counter. The night I visited, it was rather slow which allowed staff to thoroughly wait on us. I asked a couple of questions about the menu. Our server explained that the most popular rolls were the Garlic Salmon, Mafia, and Hamachi Truffle. Most premium maki come as 8 rolls with the exception of Pink Flower and Tequila which are served as 6. All rolls are made to order with fresh ingredients. I also loved that they offered three options for veggie rolls as it's still my preference! To start, we ordered both the Lychee-tini and Old Fashioned cocktails. They couldn't have been more different in flavor profiles. The Old Fashioned was spirit forward yet smooth. It had a really nice finishing note that directly came from the Japanese Whiskey used. The Lychee-tini was sweeter and had good flavor. I also loved that there was actually a lychee at the bottom of the glass. For mains, my husband got the Mafia and Hamachi Truffle rolls per the staff's recommendation. He explained that the Mafia rolls were more of a mild heat. He preferred the Hamachi Truffle roll as it had a more unique and depth of flavor. I got the Black Garden roll without the jalapeño. I loved the freshness of the rolls and thoroughly enjoyed the veggies mixed with the sauce it had. We both agreed that all rolls tasted like they were made with premium, high quality ingredients. Once we finished, the chef came out to ask how we liked everything. Kaido's service level was amazing with staff clearing plates, refilling water, checking in on how we were doing, and just making sure we had the best dining experience. The details didn't go unnoticed and makes perfect sense why they have such an amazing Yelp score! Highly recommend visiting Kaido Sushi and looking forward to my next visit!

Cute restaurant and delicious food! It's quality over quantity here. The rolls aren't ginormous, but they pack a big punch. Hot sake $12 Scallop with Ikura $21 - Buttery texture, very tasty. This appetizer is served on individual spoons, 4 to an order. Hamachi Truffle $21 - Bright flavors on this roll, didn't really taste the truffle, still delicious. Azure Dragon $19 - Eel flavor not very strong, but very delicious. Reservation is recommended. The restaurant is small and gets packed. .|\---/| | @_@ | ..\_^_/..2025

Came here, finally on a Sunday night and made reservations just in case. However, they were never really full. It is located in a strip mall so there was lots of shared parking as well. Service the entire night was very quick and attentive. Food came out very quickly as well. This was definitely high-quality fish and really well-made, rolls, hand rolls, and all their dishes overall. I will say that this was a little bit pricier than other sushi restaurants in the area. However, the combination of flavors here is really rather unique. This is definitely elevated sushi not run-of-the-mill sushi and maki rolls. I could definitely see this place as an everyday dinner spot, but also cute with the ambience to make it even for a nice dinner or special event dinner out. I would definitely come back again and it was great that they had an open sushi bar area so you could see everything being prepared. Also prepare yourself as there are no noodles or rice options, per se, like a bowl or an entrée. I don't find that to be a bad thing. I'm just saying that this is definitely a strong sushi focus which is great.

One of the few sushi places open late :-). Had a great shiitake soup and two rolls. Cloud nine with crab hit the spot, and the spicy tuna Mafia roll was great as well. Even though I walked in at 9:45pm staff was very accommodating and I quickly ordered. :-) Pleasant and very comfy plush seats. I will definitely be back!

We only recently discovered this place, even thought it has been nestled in this strip mall between Arlington Heights Rd and Golf Rd! It is a cozy restaurant with limited seats, so I would recommend to make reservation ahead of time. We were lucky to be seated by the sushi bar where we could see all the action of the chefs! The menu has plenty of hot and cold foods, and there was an option of omakaze. We ordered a variety of sushi to try. The quality of the ingredients and the flavors were spot on! In terms of gluten free options, we discussed with the server who was knowledgeable with the menu. We would definitely come back again!

Everything we ordered was wonderful. We tried one of their Signature plates, King Omakase.

Another 5 star experience. We have never been distant. Ask for the detailed men. We do not care for really spicey food.

Kaido was a pleasant surprise in terms of quality and bang for your buck! We snagged a reservation on a Friday for later in the evening for date night and it was packed! Nonetheless we got seated in less than 5 minutes nonetheless. I ordered the "King" Omakase and for well under $100, I would call the package an incredible deal. The fish to rice ratio was impeccable and the quality of the cuts of fish were outstanding. The a la carte dishes rolls were also impressive. I would highly recommend this place, even for those who have a picky taste with sushi. This spot rivals some of the best sushi places in the city in my honest opinion. Definitely one of Arlington Heights best kept secret!

Our third time at this lovely little place. Cozy and comfortable. Urban modern with comfortable chairs. Their sushi maki and nigiri are outstanding. So very fresh. The miso soup with tiny shimeji mushrooms and tofu is warming and delicious. The Green Arrow salad keeps me coming back for more. I can't go anywhere else because this restaurant is so good. Five star restaurant in the burbs. Staff is wonderful. Family owned.

One of the best sushi experiences there is, not just in the burbs. Highly recommend the sushi bar and having their omakase. Atmosphere is casual yet still feels like a unique experience. Been twice recently and can't wait to come back again

My friends have been recommending to try this place and finally got to go with them. I am not into raw stuff but surprisingly i liked it. I think because the quality was good and made really well!. The goal is to come back and try their omakase experience. And yes i will definitely be coming back! Service was great! Food was amazing! And the place was cute and cozy. Parkinh isnt an issue. Happy eating!

Do not judge Kaido by its strip mall location. It's a somewhat small place and at 5PM on a Saturday it was already packed. The lighting is dim and pleasant, the decor classy but not overly fancy. It's a place you could come for a more casual dinner or a special occasion, depending on what you order. They do take reservations. I ordered two of the 3 veggie maki-- the Orchard and Chili Mango. Both were really fresh and delicious. I always appreciate a sushi spot that does more than just a cucumber or avocado roll for their vegan customers. The people I came with got Omakase and seemed to be very happy with it. Service was swift and attentive--I'd love to come back!

The numerous 5 star reviews from different people speak for itself! I've been consistently coming to Kaido for over a year now and every time it has been 5 stars. The quality of sushi here is out of this world top notch. My group had a few people who aren't as familiar with eating raw fish and they are officially raw fish eating peeps! Chef Joon knew that the Chicago burbs needed an Omakase spot and it NEVER disappoints. My most recent time here was on a Tuesday night with a group of 6 and naturally the place was busy, haha. Weekday or weekend this place can be found PACKED. Service throughout was timed well even with it being crowded. The ambiance is very warm and cozy. Joon did a great job of making sure his customers feel at home when dining here. I love the seating options here, very comfy and the 'living room' seats are the perfect pop of color.

Sushi Edo absolutely lived up to the hype!…read more I went on a Friday around lunchtime with a party of 8, coworkers who would NOT stop raving about this place and my husband, who also acted like this sushi restaurant personally changed his life. Of course, we all know how "you HAVE to try this place!" recommendations can go... so I had to judge for myself. Well... they were right. First off, the restaurant was not crowded at all for a Friday lunch, which was great because they were able to accommodate our large group immediately without any issues. The staff was incredibly friendly from the moment we walked in and stayed attentive the entire time, constantly refilling drinks and checking on us without being overbearing. Now let's talk food... because apparently our table collectively decided we were preparing for hibernation. We ordered EVERYTHING in sight. Sushi rolls, appetizers, specialty items , if it was on the menu, there's a good chance it somehow ended up on our table. At one point they delivered this massive sushi boat that honestly deserved its own entrance music. It was fantastic. The sushi itself was fresh, flavorful, and generously sized. None of those tiny little "one bite and it disappeared" rolls you get at some places. These were actual decent-sized rolls packed with flavor and fresh ingredients. Every appetizer we tried was delicious too, and you could tell the food was coming out quickly and efficiently because there were several sushi chefs working behind the counter nonstop. One unexpected bonus was the FREE self-serve ice cream. Yes please. My husband spent the entire week talking about how amazing the matcha flavor usually is, but unfortunately they didn't have it when we went. They only had strawberry and vanilla with the swirl option, which honestly was still really good. It's more of a water-based soft serve than creamy dairy ice cream, but it was refreshing and a fun little ending to the meal. The restaurant itself was also very clean and organized, which always makes a difference for me, especially at sushi spots. One thing to keep in mind: they do charge per piece/order of sushi, so if you go in starving like we did and start aggressively pointing at menu items, your bill can climb quickly. If you don't finish them. Overall, Sushi Edo was a fantastic experience from start to finish. Great atmosphere, fresh sushi, fast service, friendly staff, and enough food to make you question your life choices in the best possible way. Definitely earned a 5/5 from me, and I'll absolutely be back. All you can eat lunch was $25/pp can't beat that! Will be back, and check them out please!

There's a kind of "night out" vibe here, even if you're just grabbing dinner on a random weeknight. The menu is creative, with specialty rolls and fusion-style dishes that feel a little more elevated than your standard lineup. When it's on, it's really on. Service is iffy to be honest. Staff is attentive and knowledgeable, and the whole experience feels polished. Drinks are well-crafted, and the patio (when open) adds a whole extra layer to the experience. That said, this is where the missing fifth star lives. Shakou can be a little inconsistent. Some visits feel like a five-star experience, others land closer to "really good, but not unforgettable." A few dishes might lean a bit too sweet or not quite balance the flavors, and during busier times, things can feel a little rushed or loud. But even with that, it's still an easy recommendation. This is a great spot when you want sushi that feels a little more upscale without going full fine dining. It's stylish, flavorful, and usually delivers a really solid experience. Four stars, comfortably... with just enough flashes of brilliance to make you keep coming back!

We had to stand in the lobby for 5 minutes without much information, while other groups who came in without a reservation after us were seated before us. Furthermore, the reservation was for the "Patio" and while technically we were seated on the "Patio", I would say it was the bottom rung of the patio. Sat at the first table outside the restaurant, underneath the awning with a bird's nest overhead chirping the entire time. Essentially in my opinion, when you make a reservation somewhere, you don't really expect to be seated in probably the worst location they have to offer. Food was pretty decent. We had two bowls basically. Both were okay, like any Sushi style restaurant, prices were a bit high, especially considering their location in the heart of the AH downtown. I would come again, but for a first try it wasn't anything special for sure.

Not only is there a food court of different Japanese restaurants to try, there is also a grocery store, bakery, bookstore, and stores that sell ice cream, traditional desserts, as well as crepes and boba tea! My family and I visit here often every year and we like to try the different foods and desserts and then check out the bookstore and grocery store afterwards. My favorite foods so far have been the beef udon soup with a soft boiled egg, shrimp and vegetable tempura, miso soup, and Japanese curry with rice, beef, and vegetables (carrots and potatoes). My son always gets the chicken and beef on a stick and my daughter usually gets a garlic pork dish with white rice but I forget what this dish is called. My husband also enjoys the beef udon soup like I do. I swear that whenever my food is finished, I am legit sad! The crepes are good, there is a variety of boba teas to try, and the ice creams are delicious! Lychee has been my favorite so far but I have yet to try the matcha, red bean, among others! You can get a small sample of different ice cream flavors too, which is nice! I sampled the red bean flavor so that will be my go-to next time! At the grocery store, I love buying Happy Turn snacks which are like a sweet and salty crunchy cracker (maybe it is made of rice?) that are individually wrapped and mochi from the fridge area. Finally, I usually like to buy mochi from the store right next to the bookstore. The mochi from this location is the best! I usually buy multiple flavors to take home and eat at a later time! You must try these! My kids love checking out the bookstore and they usually pick something out for me to buy for them - whether it is a book, keychain, etc. There are magazines, anime figurines, soft plushy toys, pens, and stationary, etc. It is interesting to browse through the things they have there! You cannot bring food or drinks inside but they do have a shelf at the entrance where you can place your drink there if you like. The first time visiting here, the majority of the customers were Asians and as the years have passed, there is now more of an influx of non-Asians who simply love the food and appreciate the culture, which I think is neat! The first time I visited here was with my college roommate who was from Japan and she recommended this place back in 2009 perhaps? I have been visiting ever since with my family. We travel more than an hour from Wisconsin to come here but it is 100% worth the drive! Also, the cashiers and workers there are quick, efficient, and friendly. I have even been able to practice a few of the Japanese phrases I have learned with a couple of the cashiers too (I asked if they spoke Japanese first)! Overall, Mitsuwa is my happy place! Great food, interesting finds, different culture, and everyone there looks excited to be there. This is as close to visiting Japan as I can get until I keep learning more Japanese and save up enough money to go visit Japan someday! This is my dream! In the meantime, we will keep visiting Mitsuwa!
