    Jalfraizi

I ordered takeout from Biswas and was unfortunately left disappointed. I'd be curious to try their food in-person, but probably won't head out in a rush given how many other great spots there are for Indian food in Atlanta. We ordered the Masoor Dal (spiced red lentils), chicken jalfrezi (stir fried spicy curry dish), aloo gobi (potatoes and cauliflower), and rice pudding. The food arrived piping hot and the prices were pretty fair. I was pretty confused about the quality and preparation of each dish, though. Masoor dal: This dish was the most disappointing -- it was completely blended like a soup, and didn't have any whole lentils to give it texture. The result was a really thin dal that was also pretty flavorless. I rarely add salt to restaurant dishes, but this one needed it (and some cumin). I'll probably doctor up the leftovers with some garlic, ginger, chopped onion, red chili, and fresh cilantro. Aloo gobi: I am skeptical of this dish. The color was a BRIGHT red (I was expecting orange-ish yellow..) and the vegetables were bright yellow. I couldn't not tell the potatoes from the cauliflower because the texture was mushy. The sauce (curry?) was thick and goopy, sort of like too much cornstarch or xanthan gum was added...which isn't typically used in preparation. The flavor was good, but this didn't seem like aloo gobi. Chicken jalfrezi: This was the best of the dishes we received, but was unlike what I expected from the order. The curry was spicy and delicious, but quite thin and soupy...not a jalfrezi. Usually the dish lends itself to a thick, semi-dry, tomato-based curry to coat the stir fried meat and veggies. There were a few sporadic veggies stewed in, but again, not stir-fry, and not really tomato-based. Rice pudding: Texture was good but flavor was lacking. Added chopped dates and some cinnamon to make it a lot better!

Stopped by for takeout and was greeted by kind people and quickly received delicious food. There is a small section where you can eat inside but this is geared toward takeout. Bring cash or debit to avoid additional credit card fees. Portions are good, place is clean and prices are fair.

The worst Indian food I have ever had. The Chicken tikkah masala is not authentic at all and tastes super sweet.

Yes, this spot is a little rough and primarily does catering. But once you get pass all of this,…read morethe food will wow you. This place is quite a hole in the wall. The Indian television show the owners had on makes everything more authentic. One Yelper was on point when she said there's an explosion of flavors. I usually hold expectations low to not be disappointed. But the food did wow me! It was like Indian food on steroids with the flavors. They did not hold back. The palak paneer was really good. The green stuff (spinach) was finely minced and oh so good with the paneer. Even the paneer was pretty flavorful even for such a simple dish. But then again it was smothered in the super flavorful sauce with whatever crazy seasoning they made it in. The lamb curry was super duper spicy. Flavorful, yes. Spicy, check. It was a lingering spice that was bearable but can accumulate and leave you wanting to pour milk over your tongue. It's sort of a hybrid of spicy in its flavor and hotness level. Your taste buds will most definitely explode with this pick. I'm sort of a wimp when it comes to spicy stuff. This was on the borderline of yes, I like it but a maybe on trying it again. There were two container sizes that they offered that were stuffed to the brim: regular and large. These two dishes came with rice so it made everything really filling. The garlic naan was really good too. Though it was a bit overheated as it was hard, but the flavor still shows through.

A very differently tasting food serving restaurant with all the flavorful North Indian main dishes…read more(Vegetarian only) at a very reasonable price and a pretty good ambience, then this should be the place for you. Would have gone past this building a 100 times and never did I notice this restaurant. Got here because someone recommended and it was very much worth it. Dine in at 7:30 PM was great with very less crown on a Thursday. THE FOOD: We ordered the North Indian Thali (says it's available until 3PM, looks like it's available through the dinner time as well). Was served in a nice Wooden board with Rice, Achar (pickle), Boondhi Raitha, Tandoori Roti (was soo good), Aloo Gobi masala, Shahi Paneer, Chole, Dhal Tadka and Paapad. The Chole was tasing so different and I guess it's the Amritsari Chole. The Shahi Paneer was top notch and Dal tadka as well. AlooGobi was super spicy but the taste was good. The single Roti piece is definitely not enough I feel, and would require another to complete the thali. Slightly pricey there I feel. We also got a AlooTikki Chaat and that tasted really good. The quantity was pretty much good for one person. I would say the spice levels were spot on. Not too much spicy (Honest these days are making it very spicy) or bland. Good quantity and sat well on the tummy. And literally did see a family enjoying their food very much and gave a very nice feeling while we were waiting for our food. SERVICE & AMBIENCE: The ambience was very much nice with all colorful wall paintings and aesthetics and wall hangings. Well lit. But there was some unpleasant smell that was kind of bothering us. I wish they address it. It wasn't crowded and the food arrived in less than 5-10minutes of ordering. The parking could be a concern. The staffs were very much courteous and polite. BOTTOMLINE: If you are in for a slightly Delhi based food flavor, I guess this should be your place. The curries are delicious and the restaurant is family friendly. Slightly pricey in my opinion. Would definitely visit here to try out other things. MY PICKS FOR YOU: North Indian Thali, AlooTikki Chaat, Chole curry

We were craving something a little different, so we landed on Indian/Bangladeshi cuisine. The reviews made the choice easy, so we headed straight to their Chamblee location. We were greeted right away and seated immediately, which was a great start. Badur (apologies if I'm spelling that wrong!) took care of us the entire time and was fantastic--super helpful with the menu and quick to offer great recommendations. We kicked things off with the Daal Puri: two mini, airy, soft flatbreads stuffed with lentils. They reminded me of a very light, crispy empanada, and I loved them. The accompanying tamarind sauce balanced everything perfectly. Definitely ordering that again on our next visit. For the mains, I went with the butter chicken, which was excellent. The chicken tasted like it had been smoked or grilled before being mixed into the sauce, and that extra flavor made it stand out. My friend ordered the Goat Bhuna, which was also delicious. Both dishes came with Baashmoti polao rice. We also added the Mixed Naan--stuffed with cheese, onion, garlic, and cilantro--and it was incredibly good. Overall, we had an amazing time. Great service, fantastic food, and a really enjoyable vibe. Solid 10/10. We'll definitely be back soon!
