Top of the cake - no decorations, nothing
    Marianne S.

My boyfriend has a mild gluten allergy and prefers gluten free food when possible, so I decided to order his birthday cake from Bite Me Kupcakez. His favorite is carrot cake, so I placed an order for one in March by phone more than 3 weeks before his birthday in April and confirmed that I could pick it up on the morning of his birthday. I arrived at the bakery on the morning of his birthday (a Saturday) and gave my name and described my order. I waited a little while for them to get my cake and noticed a lot of the staff gathering around what I thought was the cake that I ordered. There seemed to be some sort of discussion about it and then a staff person brought it over to me to ring it up. I looked at the cake and it didn't look finished to me. It was not iced on the sides and there was no decoration on top aside from "Happy Birthday Eric". Please see the pictures I included with this review which I took as soon as I got home with the cake. Does that look finished to you? I told the girl ringing me up that it didn't look finished to me. Another older woman came over and told me that that's how they do carrot cakes because of the cream cheese frosting and that it doesn't go onto the sides of cakes because it won't stick. This was said with a bit of an attitude, as if I was unreasonable to expect that a $50 birthday cake that I'd ordered several weeks beforehand should look differently. I shook my head. I disagreed completely but it was already his birthday that day and I wasn't going home empty-handed so I paid for the cake and left. My boyfriend said the cake tasted very good (I'm not a fan of carrot cake so I only had a few bites and it seemed fine) and he wasn't bothered by how unfinished it looked. I, however, am incredibly disappointed by this, along with the attitude I got when I asked why it looked unfinished. I have since asked some of my friends who bake a lot if this looked finished to them, and they all said no. One was a bit taken aback since she's been to this bakery before and was surprised at how poorly they did this cake. It may have tasted good to my boyfriend, but I'm never going back here if this is how they prepare a $50 birthday cake ordered weeks ahead of time and then make it seem like I'm demanding when I point out that it looks sloppy and undone.

It's ok.. it really did taste like a gluten free bakery. The food was dry but presented really well. It's an adorable store though and has amazing customer service. Don't let this deter you from their cakes apparently they are delicoua

Completely gluten free bakery, with some dairy and vegan options. Tons of flavors and they even offer lunch options and breakfast. Cute little place if you are in the area.

A gluten free blessing. Not just cupcakes - everything from breakfast sandwiches and soups to whoopie pies and donuts.

These kupcakez are so good, they're the perfect size, the perfect amount of frosting and nice and moist.

We can't wait to come back and try some more of the items offered like tiramisu, beef stew, and the French onion soup.

Live Free and Dine is one of those places that instantly feels special. Even though it's a takeout…read morespot, walking up felt like stepping into a mini California farmer's market meets outdoor art fair: relaxed, creative, and full of good energy. They specialize in *everything sourdough*, and it shows. The pizza was so delicious. I ordered the Hawaiian and my husband built his own with white sauce with greens and Italian sausage. Both were so flavorful, perfectly balanced, and baked to that ideal sourdough crisp-chewy combo. Every bite tasted fresh and thoughtfully made. But here's the real win: it was actually good for my gut. I usually feel heavy or uncomfortable after pizza, but not this time. Their sourdough truly makes a difference: I left satisfied instead of sluggish, which feels like a miracle. We also found out the owner, Karen, used to be a chef in Irvine, CA, and honestly... it makes sense. There's a clear SoCal flair in the ingredients and overall vibe, and I'm so glad she brought that creativity and quality to my hometown. So glad I got to stop by this place. If you appreciate food made with real intention, you must stop by too. I'll be back the next time I travel back to the east coast.
