The display of bakery items look good. I decided to try their raspberry tart. I was very disappointed because it tasted like when you leave a bakery item in the fridge. First thing I noticed is the cream on top had an off taste consistent with leaving something in the fridge uncovered. The shortbread crust was mushy instead of like a crisp shortbread cookie indicative of being left in the refrigerator too long. Finally the raspberry topping was too sugary for my taste. I did not enjoy eating it and did not finish it. Cost was $5.50. Service was attentive and the ambiance was fine.

My husband and I really enjoyed our visit to this business. The staff were both warm and welcoming, a very relaxing vibe. My vanilla latte coffee was amazing and perfectly blended. I ordered the egg and cheese croissant, my husband had a loaded bagel that he raved over. We had a cinnamon roll to go and it was amazing, we should have ordered more. Give this place a visit, we can't wait to return.

Yes, friends! It's another house turned into a restaurant, complete with multiple dining rooms that look like home and even a gift shop by the front entrance. But you're probably wondering....does the food measure up with the décor? Well.. Much to our delight, the evening's dinner was better than anticipated. Not quite top notch, but...let's just say we may have finally found a prime rib that's worth its weight in water because it actually has SOME seasoning. Granted, that implies it needed a bit more but...at this point, we'll take what we can get, right? I should mention now that when we get in, service was a bit...spaced out, gap wise. We'd essentially wait like, 10 to 15 minutes before the server came back for drink orders. What's worse is we apparently had two servers anyway. Which means service should have been twice as fast. I dunno...perhaps my math is off a bit here, but...two times one = ?...eh..moving on. We start the evening off with a couple of Caesar salads which...ain't half bad. Croutons could have been slightly more bite sized and less stale. There could have been a touch more dressing, too. Not overwhelming so to the point of soggy lettuce or anything. Just...more than a spritz. Flavor was fine, though. 7 out of 10, would *probably* get it again. Now then. The main course. Both the wife and I ended up getting the same thing: the slow roasted prime rib. We got different sides, which we'll talk about in a minute. BLUF: the prime rib was better than we expected, but certainly not perfect. For one thing, we expected them to serve the au jus in its own cup (like you do). But no...this place simply allows the au jus to rest comfortably at the bottom of your plate. Not too elegant, but it still gets the job done. Plus, I like to dip parts of my baked potato in there anyway so....still a tasty win. As I briefly mentioned earlier, this prime rib still needed some seasoning. The good thing about that, however, is that it actually augmented the beefy flavor. Few sprinkles of salt here and there, and it was everything I thought it could be. The only minor problem I have is availability of certain cuts. You see, prime rib has to be prepared ahead of time. So, the later you arrive, the harder it is to get cuts of beef that are less well done and more towards the rarer side. I prefer my beef mid-rare. Unfortunately, so does about 85% of the prime rib eating population, evidently. Needless to say, I got stuck with a medium cut...which still ended up tasting pretty good. Even the edges which were mid-well, still ended up tasting juicy and full of flavor. So, while it doesn't hold a candle to the prime rib we used to get in Texas, this one's a workable 8 out of 10 for me. Wifey decided to be the guinea pig and try the truffle fries. Now, when you hear the term "truffle fries", you expect....fries, right? What we got looked less like fries and more like unrecognizable, over greased potato crisps. Not only that, they technically had too much truffle (yeah...I actually said that). I mean, they weren't completely terrible. Just not what we were expecting. The real tragedy here is they tasted of grease more than anything. Anyways, 5 out of 10, would not recommend, unless you have an oral fetish for grease infused potato crisps. Tell you what though. It basically made the baked potato I had stand out as being bad ass. They gave me plenty of butter and sour cream to work with, so I was a happy camper. 8 out of 10. I also decided to take a chance on the sautéed mushrooms, which....*sigh*....I'll never understand why these are always somehow a hit or miss with steakhouses. But, here we go. The good news is these aren't the inexplicably sweet mushrooms you get in some places. The bad news is....they had no real seasoning to speak of. At all. In fact, they literally tasted like...well....mushrooms. If you don't understand why that's a bad thing, let me break it down for you. Imagine you buy a carton of mushrooms from the grocery store. You want to cook them on the stove top, so you decide to do so with just canola oil or some type of unsalted butter. You put no additional seasonings in there whatsoever and serve it as is. That's what these things tasted like. It's as if someone just picked them out the ground that morning, then threw them straight into the pan without so much a thought of washing them, adding ANY seasoning, thought, or anecdote of culinary common sense. What I'm saying is these mushrooms were a total waste of time and the recipe for which needs to be unequivocally reevaluated like...YESTERDAY! 1 out of 10. Just...do better, guys. Despite minor set backs though, this place is worthy of 4 thick cuts of mid-rare prime rib with a juicy, beefy flavor out of 5. We already discussed returning, if only to try one of their steaks next time.

The interior felt bright and airy, with light woods and cream/off-white tones. The space carried a slightly upscale coffee shop feel, but without the snooty third-wave energy of plastering tasting notes and bean origins everywhere. I got a large cold brew ($5.50) and a pour over ($6). At the pour over's price point, I would have expected more than one coffee bean option. Service came across as cordial, with my pour over brought out to the table. The establishment offered free Wi-Fi; even on a Labor Day afternoon, multiple people set up to work.

I asked if there was fruit to add on it but there was not at the time but the employee was nice enough to offer a raspberry jam as an alternative. They also make and have real maple syrup. I got an iced coffee to drink with oat milk. I enjoyed the coffee. There's street parking. I came on a Sunday so the parking was free. Quaint place. So, how to begin? I…read morelove coffee, my wife loves coffee, and for many years we have preferred to drink it hot and black. We are far from being kids any more so the need for sugar and milk/cream to mask the sometimes burnt or bitter taste no longer fits with our health and longevity goals, In the past, we drank coffee for the delightful effects of caffeine and we still do! However, about five years ago we discovered the world of specialty coffee and that was a revelation. We now drink coffee for the taste, the taste shaped by growing region, bean variety, soil, altitude, and a competent roaster. The main issue with seeking out such delicious coffees is affordability. Today, you can order all kinds of exotic specialty coffees from many fine roasters throughout the world and we still do. We just didn't want to go broke! What we needed was to find a local coffee roaster who could supply us with diverse, high quality coffee beans at a reasonable cost. We have found that roaster and it is King David Coffee Roasters located in Nashua, NH. We buy only whole bean, light roasted coffee from King David. Our favorites so far are: Organic Fair Trade Peru, Costa Rica Tarrazu, Ethiopian Harrah, and Tanzania Peaberry. We drink those coffees on a daily basis, but do stray every now and then and buy pricier coffees from other quality roasters. We do like our coffee! Since discovering King David we have been quite pleased with the quality of their beans and their value pricing. King David also stocks several dark roasted coffees. We don't drink dark roast, we don't like dark roast, we don't buy dark roast, so we withhold judgement on those coffees. King David does offer an espresso blend which we haven't tried, but our friend who we referred to King David bought their espresso blend and reported it made a very delicious espresso. King David is located upstairs in an older industrial/mill building on Bridge Street in Nashua. If you have the opportunity to visit them, you should - the atmospherics are quite charming, heavy beams, high ceilings, heavy doors, it's all there. The King David space is quite large and the center of attention is their Diedrich coffee roaster. You'll also be greeted by the owner/operator/roaster Carolyn Whitehouse. Whenever I drop in to pick up my beans she is there, and always busy with roasting, packaging, sales, etc. Sometimes there is a second person helping with production tasks but Carolyn is the entrepreneur carrying the heavy daily responsibilities. If you're lucky, you'll be there during a roasting session - ah, the Smokey coffee aromas are so wonderful. If you're very, very lucky, you'll be there during a maple coffee or maple popcorn production run. What a sweet and wonderful aroma! On those days, Carolyn hands you your bag of beans and that aroma is carried out of the building with that bag. It stays with you in your vehicle, gently fading away during your drive home! Of course, you could always skip the visit to King David, order your beans online through their website and avoid the entire sensory experience. Your beans will be delivered to your house via express mail - efficient but not nearly so memorable! King David offers frequent discounts on their offerings. You can check out their offerings through their website www.kingdavidcoffee.com They also have a Facebook page. We take advantage of King David's sales, buying several pounds each time with free shipping. We vacuum pack the beans in individual doses, and keep them in the freezer. This works out very well for us, as we are never out of fresh beans. If you are an avid coffee drinker you really should check out King David Coffee Roasters. Find them on their website, order a bag (ground or whole bean, your choice). Give them a try. These are good people, providing a great product at a fair price. If you love coffee as much as we do - you can't go wrong!
