My father passed away in May 2025 and my mother had passed three years before, so it was time to…read moreclean out the house and sell it. I live in Illinois and did not want to wait a long time to have things go to auction. Bridge Street Auction was able to pick up the furniture and household goods in June 2025 and take it to their gallery. (Note that this increases their commission by having it go to gallery.) My sister and I were told that everything would sell inside of a month, but it is now September 2025 and we are still receiving payments. Steve Brodi, owner of the auction house, indicated that he sold furniture on one night and collectible items on a different night and household items on a third night. This sounded like a good plan because you have the buyers there that are interested in what is being sold. But there are two problems with this method: 1) It took them several weeks to work through my parents' items by taking it to the gallery. 2) They don't just sell your items. They sell other consigners' items as well, and I believe that your sold items can get assigned to another consigner's inventory list and then you miss out on payment. We had several items that we know sold, but we were not paid for. It took several phone calls from my sister and myself to finally get payment ($1000) for those missing items. They will tell you that there is no need for you to have an inventory of the goods, that they will inventory everything for you. Do not do that. Get a notebook and write down every single item that you are sending them and take photographs of your items. If we had not taken an inventory and had not watched the auction and written down what items sold for and cross-referenced with their statement, we would not have been able to get that thousand dollars. Also, if they come to pick up your items, make sure that they put your inventory number sticker on every box, piece of furniture, painting, lamp, rug, etc. I noted that the guys were more interested in getting stuff loaded into the truck than marking with my consigner number, so I picked up the marking gun and made sure all my items had a sticker. I also put a consigner number sticker on every single page of my inventory to prove that the items listed were mine. This helped when reconciling what items we had and hadn't been paid for with their statement of sold listings and proving to them that we had sent certain items to the gallery but didn't get paid for. If you don't have a written inventory for yourself to refer back to, you will most likely forget that you gave them certain items and will miss out on payment. Especially if you are trying to clear a house after someone has passed away as we were. The emotions of losing someone and letting all of their things go is a lot and it's easy to forget all that went to auction. (In a way, I think this is why they tell you not to worry about an inventory, because if you forget, more money for them.) It also might be better if they do an on-site auction rather than having it taken to their gallery, because then they are only selling your merchandise and you get paid once instead of at random times whenever Steve sells your items at his gallery. You do need to have Internet service for them to come to your house so they can stream on Facebook and my parents did not have that. In retrospect, I wish I would have paid to have Internet hooked up for the one day auction. it probably would have been worth the money to avoid the hassle. And it ended up costing us more in commission for them to come and get it and take it to the gallery. But it all got sold in the end. I just wish I had read a review like this before I went with them. I hope this enlightens someone out there.

Last June two men came & took an entire house of furniture & Everything in the house. I never got…read morean entire inventory. It was my parents' home & they had nice furniture. They were 98 years old when they both passed away. Everything like pots & pans, dinnerware, decor etc. was packed on their truck. I received $650.00 for an entire house. I don't recommend them & as far as I am concerned, they are scam artists. I called many times. If you have any furniture sell it yourself. Be aware of everything they are taking & make your own list!
