The company did send someone right out to look over my crawl space for encapsulation. The only issue was it was in the wrong area. The guy opened a closed-off area that no one has been in since that bathroom was built. It would have been nice had he covered that opening back up but he didn't and now a feral camp of cats have crawled in. read more

I sympathize with the writers of all the other negative reviews of this company, as I had a similar experience. I cannot recommend this company at all, as I have learned that it seems they really don't know what they are doing. I own and live in a house on the edge of a small lake in Illinois. On occasion, I do get flood waters in the basement, but I called this company primarily to check the quality of the foundation, as I had some floor sagging. They did install new beams and supports, which helped, but they also suggested a water-removal system to keep out the moisture, and I agreed because of the occasional flood. Both the salesman and the work crews saw that we were right on the lake; it was not a secret, but at the time of the installation, I had no water in the basement and had not had water in the basement for over a year. After the water-removal system was installed, it ran constantly, pumping water into the front yard every few minutes from a basement that had NO water in it previously. Very quickly, we had a front-yard swamp. I tried to speak to someone about the issue, but the manager I was ultimately able to reach (because no one would acknowledge my concerns until I threatened not to pay) was rude and belligerent, accusing me of lying and ultimately provoking a shouting match, which my wife had to interrupt in order to speak. TOTALLY unprofessional. Ultimately, my wife made phone calls in order to find out exactly where the water table was for our house and learned that the pump for this system had actually been installed INSIDE the water table. The rude manager I spoke to refused to consider having "an expert" check the water table, but it took her only about 20 minutes of time on the phone and no money at all to find out this information and later receive a copy of the report. If a representative of this company had been honest enough and knowledgeable enough to bother to make that phone call, I could have saved over $6,000. Do not hire these people. This company's representatives are, for the most part, inept, rude, and dishonest, interested only in getting the biggest check they can without providing a service worth that kind of money. read more

I'd give them zero stars if I could. I called them to repair the dewatering system in my house. They said there was a $95 charge to come and repair the system. When the guy showed up he looked at it and said he couldn't repair it. He didn't even touch it, he just stood and looked at it. He said I still had to pay the $95. I complained and he reduced it to $49 for absolutely NOTHING. Call someone else! read more

I am a Property Manager, I called Bix Basement Repair in May 2019 for repair of garage floor. We have a 70 year old woman that resides at this property. I got estimate and paid full amount of repair. July 11 was scheduled to fix issue. So this 70 year old woman had all of her stuff removed from garage and sat in 90 weather all day. They were a no show, was not told would not make it until 4pm. I explained to them the issue with tenant sitting in heat all day. August 30 scheduled again, another all day in the sun with a no show. I explained the situation again to them with the 70 year old tenant. They promised that on October 18th they would be there and they would move all of her things out for her. Again a no show and not told they were coming until 4 pm. The problem that I have does not compare to this beautiful 70 year old woman that told me and I quote. "When I grew up a persons word was their bond". I am sure we are not the only people that have had this problem with Bix Basement, they feel they are such a big company they can do what they want and hurt 70 year old people all they want. read more

The worst customer service and contract experience I've ever experienced. After doing a walk through and agreeing to a contract, I was told I'd be contacted in the next week to set up an appointment. I heard nothing. After a month I sent an e-mail and was told they'll check and get back to me. Nothing. After two months another e-mail, no response. After three months I checked my credit card statement to see that suddenly they had billed my card for a 20% down payment but had still not scheduled me for anything. Meanwhile, my contact there disappeared and stopped responding to my contacts. Finally, after 4 months, I got ahold of someone and they put me on the schedule for later that week. I was told to be at the house at 10 am (this was our empty, vacant house for sale, we had already moved) as the workers were finishing a job in the morning and would head straight over. I waited at the house, hearing from them occasionally about traffic delays and equipment mix ups, and they finally showed up at about 5:30 pm (I sat in that empty house until then) and then they asked if I still wanted them to get started that night or come back in the morning. It took them until the next day to finish the job. They tore up the yard fairly badly, but I expected that. They did not however do a very good job of putting dirt back and I had to pay an additional landscaper to re-level everything. The bigger problems came later. The workers did turn off my outside gas line as they were working on that side of the house. But they did not turn it back on. I did not realize this (again, the house was empty and the only thing we used gas for was heat and this was September when they finished). It wasn't until November, when the heater was turned on and the blower ran without heat for almost a month that we came into a cold house and realized that the gas line was still off. This was not as big a deal as the next problem. When they poorly refilled the hole on the wall they fixed, they either forgot to reattach the sump pump line that left the house on it's way to the ditch, or it came detached when they refilled the hole with dirt. This caused all water leaving the sump pump to immediately settle next to the house and leak back into the tile, causing a slow build up. Again, this was an empty house and we only got to it every couple of weeks. Upon returning to the house, a small pond had formed along the newly repaired wall that we thought initially to be a broken water line. I had to pay a plumber additional money to repair that and I am thankful we caught it before a major rain storm (one happened the very next week that would have been disastrous). Finally, even though I had filled out a credit card authorization and expected to be billed shortly after they finished the project, it seemed like once again they lost my paperwork. I didn't get billed (and after the poor service wasn't in a hurry to give them my money) and didn't get billed until almost 9 months after the initial signing of the contract and 5 months after they "finished" the work. Needless to say, even though there aren't many options for the work that they do, find someone else. read more

I have had nothing but trouble with this company since.I used them to correct a basement wall problem. We now have water in our basement almost every day because they broke the drain system and then tried to repair on the cheap. We now have a clogged drain systemy that is costing more money to repair. All they wanted to do was take.pictures of the basement 3.times, but never once saying they would.fix the.problem. I submitted a complaint to the BBB and the only response from Bix was they had tried numerous to contact me. That said is a flat out untruth. I told Bix I would pay for them to re-dig if I was wrong in my assessment of an improperly reinstalled drain system. No response. All they do is delay, delay, delay in the hope you will get tired and go away. Stay far away from this company--poor customer service, lie to the customers and take no responsibility. read more

I'm so disappointed in this company. They were recommended to me to help save my basement from the water damage that was continuously happening. During the sales process I felt very informed and was satisfied with the quote. They couldn't get started for 4 months. I scheduled my future time and anxiously awaited having a dry basement. The company required me to removed my HVAC unit because it was in their way to complete the work. I had to contract that separately and plan it around their schedule. I confirmed the timeframe prior to confirming my heat to be removed in early March so I could limit my time without heat. The morning they were intended to arrive to start, I got a phone call they were on the way, but wouldn't arrive until lunch. Then a call at lunch they were still two hours away. They finally arrived at 6pm and weren't planning to do any work. This meant I would be the entire weekend without heat in my home. I got excuses after excuses. None of them made sense and they were not logical. It's been over a week now and the job is still not complete and I continue to get excuses and lies. Very, very disappointed in the communication and planning. read more

Bix was very quick and accommodating in visiting my home to provide me a quote. Their office staff was friendly, helpful, and patient in scheduling the initial visit. After signing the proposal and approving the work things unfortunately took a turn for the worst. Scheduling became a chore as it took weeks to get the work scheduled, and later Bix mixed up the date, and without notification to me added a day to the work (said it was going to be a 1 day job, then suddenly it was 2). My questions to the manager went unanswered. Emails, phone calls, messages, all went unanswered. When Bix performed work on my neighbor's residence they drove their heavy equipment over my lawn after it had just rained heavily and caused damage to the lawn. I experienced a complete lack of communication and follow through with them in my attempts to get my lawn repaired. They ended up bringing dirt with them when arriving to complete my house work, however as over a month had passed grass had grown over the damaged areas obscuring them from view so the dirt was left (neatly) next to my house for me to fix as I could not point out the spots from memory to their crew onsite. The day of my appointment Bix did not stick to the scheduled time. I received a late evening phone call from the foreman the night before letting me know they would be there at 12 noon (9AM was the scheduled time) as they were tied up at the previous job's location, they didn't end up showing up until almost 2. I cannot say enough good things about the crew. They were professional, extremely hard working, and polite. While being sensitive to my family's needs they worked late into the evenings to get the job done after 2 days of work. Their products appear to be solid and well installed. After refusing to sign the loan documents initially for their payment I was able to receive a call back finally from the manager who essentially blamed me, argued with me, and berated me for my opinions about their customer service and business practices. I heard a lot of excuses, but never so much as an apathetic apology. The experience could have been exponentially better had the customer service been on par. read more
