They came out on time and quickly got their auger tool stuck in a mass of roots within the sewer line. A camera was inserted which showed a significant root mass. Soon another person came out and quoted us $6900 to dig up the yard, remove their tool, and replace the bad section of sewer line which contained the root invasion, estimated to be 6 or 7 feet in length. This seemed quite high to us, but we were stuck with an open, totally non-functional sewer now, so we accepted. When they dug into the sewer line and we had become what I would call a Captive Customer, things got worse. They said that they needed to replace another 30 feet of sewer line at an additional cost of $14,000, bringing their total quote to $20,900. Note that this is in a very open and flat back yard with no obstacles. We balked at that terrible price quote, and they told my son that the high price was not their fault, and that the PVC sewer pipe they use normally sells for $1000 per foot. That of course is ridiculous, as it sells for $1.50 per foot at Home Depot. In the end, they came down to $15,000 total cost. They said they would include hydro-jetting the remaining portion of the old sewer line which was normally an additional $2200 charge. Since they had our sewer in an absolutely non-functional condition, we reluctantly accepted. They finished their work that day and said that they would replace the remaining portion of the old sewer line for an additional $5500. Since the sewer was now functioning, we declined. In the end, their 7 hours of work cost us $15,000 or a little over $2,000 per hour. (I will attempt to attach a photo of their $2000 per hour crew in action.) My son and I feel awful, as we feel we were robbed, and we let them do it to us. And they never did perform the $2200 hydro-jetting job they said they would do, though I would not want them to touch anything in our house ever again. Oddly, while we received an initial written quote for the $6900 job, we never received a written quote for the $15,000 job. Nor did we receive a written invoice or a bill. They charged my two credit cards a total of $15,000, and that was that. Oddly, we hired Mr. Rooter of Peoria, but the two charges against my cards came from Bloomington and Champaign. By the way, it appears this company is not BBB (Better Business Bureau) approved/accredited, and they have a BBB rating of an F with many complaints against them. I wish had had read the Yelp reviews and BBB ratings before being drawn in by their $95 sewer cleaning deal. Given the way they operate and their terrible over-charging tactics, I would not use them again.
