I want to start off by saying that I've been a regular here ordering bacon, egg & cheese sandwiches & cinnamon rolls here almost every weekend for as long as I can remember. Shames me to say, the quality of the food here has been very poor the past few weeks. Today, I've ordered my regular go to for me & my spouse- 2 bacon, egg & cheese & 2 cinnamon roll. I was very disappointed. The bacon on both sandwiches were burnt & had a horrible after taste. The cinnamon rolls were not even placed in a styrofoam Togo container like they normally do & placed them in a regular box which caused all the icing the seep through the box! I'm not the one to usually complain as hence I don't have many reviews but this happened multiple times consistently over my past few orders. There's other great donut shops here in folsom like the donut shop. I don't recommend eating here. read more

5/23/2023: Pecan Cinnamon Rolls x 2! This is the only place I purchase pecan cinnamon rolls when I'm not traveling and just bumbling around Placerville, Folsom, Rancho Cordova or Sacramento. BJ Cinnamon rolls even beats Sacramento Natural Food Co-Op's cinnamon rolls via taste test which by the way, Sac Co-Op doesn't even bake pecan cinnamon rolls-period; odd as it may worth mentioning, Safeway, Raley's, and Bel-Air also, do not bake cinnamon rolls nor bake pecan cinnamon rolls, either~weird , huh? So, I guess, BJ Cinnamon has literally cornered the cinnamon roll market~lol! read more

Apple fritter review #22 Glaze: this is the least amount of glaze I've ever seen on a fritter, and it's very uneven, like there are actual naked parts. Two stars. Outside: it's crispy, at least. Five stars. Inside: fluffy and just moist enough, five stars. Filling: large chunks of apple, four stars. I can give them four stars, but the glaze is very disappointing. I went there today and bought four Donuts . Lady was nice . But, I sat down this evening to eat my jelly donut got down to two bites and bit down on something hard....It was 2 pieces of glass...Now i have to worry if any got swallowed... Called my friend that got a dozen including a lemon jelly one...Thankfully her 86 year old husband hadent eaten it yet... The goodies in the case move quickly so you know you are getting the freshest items available. Today the buttermilk bar was perfect. Generous size and perfectly prepared. Been my fav donut place in the area for years and my recent visit was just as good. Amazing croissant sandwich, amazing Cronut (my fav is the glazed or cinnamon sugar), amazing donuts and amazing cream puffs. I got a blueberry scone too and it was warm and moist. Even the coffee was good. I have also tried the sticky bun and liked it. Really can't go wrong with anything here! People are so nice too, not only they are always smiling, patient and pleasant, they'll almost always throw in some extra donut holes here and there as a sweet surprise. I recommend calling ahead if you have your eyes fixed on anything cause certain varieties could randomly sell out early in the morning, but if you call they will set it aside for you. Excellent donut place! I went in with high expectations cuz people be raving about this place. And my expectations met and exceeded!! Service is friendly and so attentive. I ask a few questions since it's my first time there and she was so patient and gave super good recommendations too. I got the cream puff which is so delightful, a ham and cheese croissant which is buttery and savory ooooof so good, a simple glazed donut which is soft and airy and a strawberry donut which is cake like in texture and deliciously sweet. To make things better she threw in a few donut holes for me. A few didn't make it home cuz I couldn't wait. They are so good too! And fun to eat. Another thing I wanna point out. I really appreciate the attention to detail. If you see the photo, she barriered the powered sugary cream puff from the savory item. Checked out BJ Cinnamon while visiting family over the holidays. You can tell the bakery has been here a while, but the proof is in their offerings. Donuts were delicious as well as the cinnamon bun. Ordered half a dozen and had a hard time picking flavors. After getting home, we took a knife and got to try all the choices we made- so good!! Staff was super patient with us as we made our donut selections. Luckily it wasn't that crazy busy.... Just the locals enjoying their (daily?) coffee and starting their day. This is our second visit here and NOW I know why they hold a 5-star average after 1000+ reviews! Last time we went later in the afternoon so maybe things weren't as fresh. But this time we visited on a Saturday morning. The place was full and line was out the door but we only had to wait about 15 minutes, so it wasn't as bad as it looked. I had overheard a DoorDash driver mention that it's not normally that backed up too. On today's visit I really wanted to try the seasonal pumpkin cinnamon roll. But we also got a glazed donut, raspberry scone, and a plain croissant. The croissant was for our son but it was so good I took a few bites myself! Normally I don't like plain ones but this one was so chewy and soft! They even threw in some donut holes into the bag for us. The pumpkin cinnamon roll was super warm and had the perfect amount of glaze on top. I liked it a lot better than the apple one I had last time we came, and the pumpkin flavor was definitely there. The raspberry scone was a beautiful pink color and full of raspberry flavor! The staff were very nice despite it being super busy. There was a pretty rude DoorDash driver but the guy kept his cool. Very good donuts overall. Great variety. They offer warm cinnamon rolls but the Pecan Cinnamon Rolls are the BOMB! They add delicious candied pecans and drizzle warm caramel sauce on top of the regular cinnamon rolls. Oh so delicious!! We have tried their custard filled donuts with chocolate, old fashioned donuts, crullers, glazed raised donuts, cream filled and all were delicious! We also love that this is very obviously a family runs business and they care about the quality of the items they serve! Came in for some assorted and delicious goodness. The place is clean , well presented, and appears to have been here for many years. I like that the place is owned by a Cambodian family. Check out the Hulu documentary about the Donut King and you'll have a different view of the hundreds of Cambodian owned donut shops in California. Overall the service was decent and they offered a few unique options, like guava filled donuts, strawberry shortcake and Apple cinnamon rolls. I had the glazed donut and coffee. (For comparison purposes, I'm not a fan of Krispy Kreme's glazed donuts, they over do it in said categories). I really enjoyed the donut! The coffee was basic yet digestible. I didn't give the place a solid 4 because there were exposed donuts, sitting on the side of the display case, as if there was no place to put them. I saw a kid breathing all over the donuts, so it seemed a bit unsanitary to have them sitting near the entrance. ( Especially considering area COVID numbers are ramping up.) There were a lot of people working behind the counter but it appeared that they needed to delegate a person to work on tidying up the place. Had this place booked marked for years and finally had the chance to try it. Now I know why this place was voted the best donut shop. Upon arrival, the lady who I assume is the owner, was so friendly! She asked what we wanted and said they have more in the back if it wasn't displayed. There was this strawberry cream ring donut I wanted to try and there wasn't any in the front. I believe they had to make it in the back bc it did take some time for it to be done. The strawberries were fresh and it was quite good. The cream puffs are a MUST! They are so good and you can't go wrong with the donut holes. Everything else that we got was good as well and tasted so good with our iced viet coffee. The lady even threw in some extra donut holes for us. I waited 20 minutes past when my order was supposed to be ready and they told me it would be an additional 30 more minutes. I asked for a refund which I still haven't received. We were on our way to see fall colors around Folsom so we decided to get some desserts for our trip. Found this place via yelp and decided to give it a try. As soon as we entered this place, it was clean and welcoming. We ordered an old style donut, a chocolate filled donut and a cranberry danish kind of thing. Needless to say everything was delicious. My favs were traditional donuts and cranberry danish. We requested the staff to warm up the donuts and she gladly did and packaged it well.
