Stopped in to grab a matcha latte. It was ok. Just kinda tasted like milk with a little matcha but couldn't really taste the matcha. Their sandwiches & bakery items looked really good but I'll have to try them next time I'm in the area. Love their outdoor seating. Staff were friendly. They have story time for the kiddos at 9:30a on Tuesdays. This is located by the Folsom Historic District and has a few shops & places to eat nearby.

Came here for 20 years when I lived in Folsom, Ca and it's still as wonderful. Food is fresh and made to order. Coffee is delicious and you have a choice of dark or light roast. The patio is still large and inviting with plenty of plants and umbrellas. I always get the petite breakfast which is 1 scrambled egg, 1 stupor either bacon or chicken apple sausage and fruit. The service is always fast and friendly!!

This is a great little place to get some baked goods or a full breakfast. The start of the show for me was the pastries! The seating is first come first serve so you have to really look for a table and try to snag it quick. We got lucky and one opened up right as we finished paying. The day we went it was pretty busy and packed, I did notice a man in a wheelchair didn't have the easiest time getting around but people were doing their best to scoot in and make more space.

Karen's Bakery is considered a staple in Folsom so we decided to try it out for the first time! We got there on a Saturday around 10:45am and it was pretty busy, but the line to order at the register moved quickly so we only ended up waiting 10-15 minutes. There are limited vegetarian/vegan options - I ordered the breakfast croissant sandwich and requested to sub the bacon with avocado, but was told avocado would be a $4 upcharge and that I could get spinach instead. I was a little surprised by this since bacon seems more comparable to avocado than spinach. Nonetheless, I ordered the sandwich with spinach and fruit on the side and my friend got the green goddess sandwich. Our orders were ready within 15-20 minutes. Breakfast croissant sandwich (2.5/5): Croissant was tasty! However, the scrambled eggs inside were underseasoned - as a whole, the sandwich lacked flavor. Fruit was mostly sweet which was nice. I was not that full after finishing the sandwich so considering the $21 price point, it didn't feel like great bang for buck. Green goddess sandwich (3.5/5): Good portion size! Friend said the ingredients tasted fresh. However, similar to the breakfast croissant sandwich, the dish could have used more seasoning. Overall, I don't think I would come back to Karen's Bakery for their savory entrees as there are not many vegetarian options, substitutions are limited, and the food could have been more flavorful. That said, I've heard good things about their desserts so I would come back to try that instead

Karen's Bakery has been serving the community for decades, and I have been coming here for the past 10+ years for good reason. Today's standout was the orange miso glazed salmon with orzo pasta salad. The orzo was served cool, offering the perfect contrast to the warm salmon, and the flavors just worked. The mix of asparagus, peas, and edamame was a trio I didn't know I needed. We also tried the tuna melt, which was hearty and flavorful, though a touch salty for my taste. The side potatoes were fine, but didn't quite steal the spotlight. That honor goes to the peanut butter cookie, which was absolutely phenomenal!!!!! It was soft, rich, and the perfect sweet bite to end the meal.

I am giving this place a five star reading mostly because of how beautiful these pictures came out, but really the food was very tasty. We both enjoyed our meals previously I had ordered the Napa chicken sandwich from the deli case and I actually think I would go for that option instead of the hot Melt in the picture. My Matcha was extra Matcha with maple syrup, which tasted really good unfortunately I was charged extra for the extra Matcha as well as for the side of fruit, although I was not informed of this up charge before. We really like the food and that it's such a friendly local place but they charge for the fruit was unexpected. They also forgot one of our pastry items.

We were in a pinch and they were able to make a wedding cake within a couple of days at a very reasonable price. We were very pleased with the cake.

I'm not sure why I didn't try this place sooner, I've been by so many times. It was packed on a Saturday at 12N. Met up with some friends and ate lunch on the patio. All the entrees are fresh prepared, high quality ingredients and reasonable prices. I will definitely be back!

Have loved Karen's for decades! It's always a must have when I'm visiting home. We came to eat breakfast and pick up our sandwiches and cookies for our afternoon picnic at the winery. Steak and eggs, croissant breakfast sandwich and quiche of the day did not disappoint. The tri-tip Philly sandwich and literally any cookie is a must have!

Another outstanding meal! We've been going to Karen's since they 1st opened, and they were located in Orangevale (my parents lived down the street and used to give Karen some of their lemons haha). Everything always tastes so fresh and great quality. I love their granola too, which is homemade and I recommend getting it with their yogurt & fruit, so good. Their sandwiches are always amazing. Today I had the grilled chicken sandwich. My Mom had the quiche. The quiche is very delicious. The sandwich was huge, had to bring half home, and it came with wedge fries, which were piping hot. We also got some chocolate chip cookies ($3.25) to go, also delicious. I keep eyeing the tuna sandwich in the display case. It is humongous as well, with large slices of heirloom tomatoes (next time, getting that!).

This walk-up, counter-order bakery and coffee shop offers eggs, sandwiches, salads, and baked goods. After placing your order, you're given a number and can you get yourself water at the end of the counter and head across the busy dining area to the cream and sugar table if you want that for your coffee or tea. Indoor seating is usually full, but there are several outdoor tables available as well. When we visit with our group of five, we typically manage to find a table within a reasonable wait time before our meal arrives. However, the staggered delivery times for meals is a problem. Both times and I have come if somebody in our party ordered eggs they end up getting their food delivered after people who have ordered avocado toast, or other items not requiring the area, have long finished their meal. This is a problem. I don't think I'd recommend bringing hungry impatient, children or elderly people here because of the inconvenience of the stagger delivery of the food and constant having to get up to check if they forgot about you or to get your coffee refilled, etc. but for young hipsters, it's a cool place .

It's a cute little coffee spot with a fun vibe and great music (Drake was playing!), although seating inside is very limited. There are a few outdoor seats as well. I ordered the Chef's Bowl, and because I love rice, they were kind enough to add an extra scoop of rice along with the potatoes, which I really appreciated. I had asked for the bacon to be removed, but unfortunately it was still included, and there was a lot of it in the bowl. I spent most of the meal picking it out, which definitely took away from the experience a bit, but the dish itself was still delicious. I also noticed the presentation was different from what I expected. My graham vanilla bourbon latte was missing the cookie, and the drink came in a plastic cup instead of the tall glass I'd had on previous visits. My food also came in a little to-go carton instead of plated presentation. Has the place moved away from using plates and glassware? If so, what a pity, presentation really does make a difference, especially for such a cute café atmosphere. One thing I found interesting is that despite being only a few feet away from Karen's Bakery, Sociology still had a steady line of people waiting for coffee and food, which says a lot about how popular it is. I'd definitely like to try it again on a weekday and hope my latte will be in a glassware and my Chef's bowl does not have bacon!

We pulled in excited for both food and coffee... but quickly learned this is very much a coffee-first, food-optional situation. The coffee? Pretty solid. I ordered the honey lavender latte and enjoyed it. My daughter's iced vanilla latte also passed the teen approval test. Minor head-scratcher: I ordered my latte "for here" and still got a to-go cup. Now, the food. Oof. I'd strongly recommend sticking to baked goods (I didn't try them, but guessing that would be a better option) The avocado toast was a letdown. Imagine a teeny, paper-thin, cold piece of toast topped with a small smear of avocado that tasted more "packaged" than fresh, a drizzle of balsamic glaze, two lonely feta crumbles, and a sliced hard-boiled egg... served cold... on the side. It did come with a side salad, which felt like an apology. We also ordered a croissant sandwich (ham, Swiss, and scrambled eggs), which unfortunately did not sit well with my husband. The eggs tasted like they may have come from a carton. The staff was nice, but the service model was confusing. When I'm prompted to tip at checkout and there are tables and seating, I assume some level of table service. Instead, we picked up our own coffee, food, silverware, and napkins, and at the end, we also got the honor of bussing our own plates back to the counter. Full-circle dining experience. Bonus details: - They had one single packet of hot sauce left in the entire place - The salt shaker was completely solidified (we did ask for more, but the replacement had exactly one functioning hole) * And just to keep you on your toes, the front door pushes instead of pulls. A small thing, but somehow on-brand. Bottom line: Come here if you want a custom coffee. If you're hungry, manage expectations... or honestly, stick with good old Starbucks for consistency, fewer surprises, and doors that behave.

Clearly precooked & refrigerated but then microwaved and the whipped cream and fruit compote was added on top. I did not have anything to eat, but they did have an assortment of baked goods to choose from. The coffee I tried was okay... I went for something new to me, but I probably wouldn't order it again. If I'm in the area again I'll make sure to pay this place another visit!
