I understand the need for paying the bills while the season is going on, but there's no need to charge $50 or more for a crappy t-shirt! The Mountain Store is very reasonably priced, well organized, with a large selection of soft goods, hats, scarfs, t-shirts, and other gifts or memorabilia for your memories. The lady who works there was wonderful and has a great sense of humor (she didn't seem to want to kick me out at any time which is impressive!). She was also very helpful getting me hooked up with a new leather hat. The hat is very well made and good quality, other stores in town wanted hundreds of dollars more for essentially the same hat as the $50 one I bought. The ladies bought t-shirts, shot glasses and other gifts for friends back home at equally good values. I really don't mind paying a little more from a local business especially in a ski resort town but most of the stores I visited left me feeling financially impaled. I didn't see anything in The Mountain Store that was overpriced or gave me a"gouged" sensation.

Please somebody reading this take action that is not okay and if it just so happens to be the lady i'm talking about that's in charge I hope you read this and understand you have some issues going on, not sure what it is but don't think you need to take it out at your job. I'm not sure if that was just because it was the holiday season, but they did not allow anyone in the store without being accompanied by an associate. Once I was paired, the associate gave me a complimentary cocktail and started sizing me for hats. I did feel she was a bit pushy, heavily suggesting certain colors even when I shared my own preferences. As I started on accessories, I did not feel like I was being shown all of the options and only those with a price tag over $1000 (on top of the price of the hat itself). I took it upon myself to search and find what I really liked, but the pushiness of the associate made the experience less enjoyable and rather stressful. Overall I am happy with my purchase, but I would recommend anyone coming in to come prepared with the style you want because the process can be overwhelming otherwise.

You will likely even be greeted by someone dressed head to toe in cowboy attire. There's a sense of charm to that. Downstairs, the clothing selection continues, but you'll also find a small museum dedicated to the memory of Doc Holiday. It's unmanned, but they request a $5 donation to keep the place going. There's a video running on a loop that tells you a bit about the history, too.

So many things to check out adornment wise for hats. Beads, feathers, pins, stamps, and so much more. The store itself is classic western style making it fun to walk around. Loved how the even the hat rim could be customized as well with just a little heat. There's a sister store in Aspen as well - which is very popular with locals and visitors alike. Although we needed our snow gear, we were constantly taking our jackets off because it was nice an warm when the breeze died down. This place is ridic! Amazing service from Maria Gomez, who was constantly checking in with us and firing out our hummus plates, our caviar, and the Dom Perignon and Veuve Cliquot. The ladies at the cabana next to us got fondue and they had so much champagne, they shared it with some of the people not in cabanas, so they were superstars. More fun as the deejay pounded out beats and we took our four espresso martini shots on a ski. So wild and fun. Just know that the "Beach Club" is located at the top of Aspen Mountain at 11,200 ft above sea level, so you're gonna have to take the gondola up, which can be a little unnerving if you're nervous about heights. It was tough for me who was on the edge of altitude sickness. It was great, but I needed to stop every 50 ft to catch my breath just to go to the bathroom. Still, I wanna do this again. In spite of this, it was one of the most fun things I did in town.
