Rude, incompetent, aggressive, unethical, and overall very unprofessional. Horrendous Customer Service and POORLY "refurbished" ATVs Worth the read!!!!!!!!!!! Tldr: My family and I came to this terrible rental spot thinking we would have a fun time but we were seriously mistaken. Please save yourself $ money, time, and ultimately a Huge headache. I highly support mom n pop businesses but this isn't it. I advise you to rent elsewhere. We were greeted by a friendly( so it seemed) front desk worker who helped us fill out paperwork, choose our ATV etc ...everything was going smoothly-ish, until $ cost and rental prices were being explained. The employee was very back and forth and forgetful ( which she insisted multiple times that "it wasn't her day" and just an "off day") we just figured that she was really busy and tired. (BTW Gas price is $30? for 1 hour ride? and the speed limit is 15mph...doesn't make sense....) But during the registration process I noticed a customer who just walked in about broken breaks and that she was sorry about the damage and agreed to pay for the damages with her security deposit. I didn't really think much of it. We finished our registration process and drove down to the beach. The "provided shuttle" aka "suv" was no where in sight. When we pulled up to the designated area I was instructed to park by an employee on a dirt bike (who quickly pointed to the specific parking spot and drove off). On my way to the spot my car got stuck in the sand. I understand this is the beach and this is very common. After we pushed the car out of the sand I walked over to the BJ ATV trailer (about 10-20 feet away) . And asked a nearby person smoking a cigarette/ maybe a joint? where to repark. ( I thought he was another customer/later finding out that he was an instructor). He pointed to the exact location where I got stuck and gave a smirk and a shrug like it was a joke. *Mind you he saw the whole thing and instructed us to straighten the car wheel and physically push the car out. After reparking my car my family and I walked over to the ATV rental trailer and was shocked to see another family who was very upset at the condition of the provided rental atvs. The customer(man) was being accused of being a liar and was being yelled at by a 2nd employee with the assist of the smoking employee( I mean yelling very excessively/loudly almost like a tantrum) in front of the man's wife, 2 young children( I'm guessing 6yrs and younger) and a late teenage son for allegedly breaking and damaging his atv(s). Wow. While all of this is going on his wife glances over to us with disappointment and frustration and warns us to film and document the condition of the atv before and during the ride. Then proceeded to tell us that the ATV will drive you out and breakdown X minutes/ X distance into the ride. She explained to us that this has happened to them before. I figured it was maybe bad luck?(strange considering the establishments only job is to rent out atvs) but the blatant Disrespect and Condescending tone that these 2 employees were showing to this man in front of his family didn't sit right with me. So we left right away and headed back to the front office for a refund. Once we were back in the front office I politely asked for a refund. When the employee asked me why I told her the weather condition quickly changed and I felt it was not ideal and frankly not safe. I asked for the manager who was "out and about" and unavailable for another Hour/ or to come back on Wednesday(I was here on Sunday at 5pm fyi) THIS is when an older lady with blonde hair marched over to basically tell me off. I told her my reasonings and before I could finish my sentence she cuts me off and was quick to raise her voice and talk down to me, basically shouting at me to man up because people come and ride in the rain all the time. Complete disregard for me and my families safety. This would've been my 1st time on an ATV and would rather not Risk me and my family Safety riding a motorized vehicle. I'm a grown man and her tone was Extremely Condescending, Belittling, Disrespectful, and Unprofessional. -You must not be from 'round here type vibes if you know what I mean................ While all of this is going on another family next to us was going through they're registration process and seemed very uncomfortable and confused ( the same employee who helped us) was going over $costs and jumping numbers. We walked out and one of them followed us outside asking what happened. We explained the story and they were really shocked and walked right in for a refund. read more

****BJ'S RENTAL IS HORRIBLE**** For my brothers 16th birthday my mother and I planned a trip to Pismo Beach to go ATV'ing. While searching through Yelp I came across Bj's who had a 4 star rating. Any sane person would not think twice about going anywhere else since they had excellent reviews. **MISLEADING** We called and booked our reservation over the phone for $100. We had reserved 11 ATV's. We drove 5 hours for this trip. Once we arrived we were helped by a nice girl named Samantha. Once we had all our paperwork signed and ready to pay we were then told that each ATV needed a $100 deposit on top of the rental fee. At that moment in time our entire party was stunned because we did not have the cash on hand to pay $1100 (notice I said ON HAND....NOT at all). When I informed Samantha that we were never told that a deposit for each ATV was required an old, washed up, bad tanned, bleach blonde, botox injection fiend woman came out of nowhere and without any compassion to the situation told us that those are the rules and there is nothing they can do about it. My mother whom was quiet the entire time let this lady know that when we were on the phone over a month ago paying for our deposit that we were not informed of the deposit for each bike. The rude lady began to raise her voice and said that the owner is the one who took our reservation so she knows that we were told! My mom told the lady that we were NEVER informed of this and why would we drive over 5 hours, spend money for 4 hotel suites the night before to come here the next day and not be prepared for the deposit if we were aware???! The lady said she didn't know what our intentions were and maybe we knew we were doing something wrong!!! (if you haven't guessed it by know, yes our entire party is African-American). She then called the police on us and other employees were taunting us saying that we had no class and good luck trying to rent somewhere else............ Well to those employees and the washed up orange lady, guess what!?............ We have TONS of class which is why your little police stunt FAILED. We went and gave our money to a much more deserving establishment....STEVE'S ATV, that also required a $100 deposit for each ATV but as I stated earlier we NEVER said we didn't have the money, we just said we were unaware and therefore did not have it on us. (there are these things called ATM machines btw) Our party was never given the opportunity to figure anything out before we were ambushed by this RACIST establishment. I had the WORST experience of renting ATVs from BJ's ATV Rental, and it was a complete disaster from start to finish. I made a reservation in advance, thinking it would save time during check-in, but I couldn't have been more wrong. The whole process was poorly organized and inefficient. Upon arriving, we were met with two lines: one for reservations and the other for walk-ins. Shockingly, the walk-in line moved at a much faster pace, leaving those of us who had paid ahead of time waiting for over an hour and a half just to be served. It was frustrating and made absolutely no sense. To make matters worse, the manager, an older white lady, was extremely rude and unprofessional. When I inquired about changing the ATV since the one I wanted wasn't available, she responded with a snide remark, "how about it's not available!" It was apparent that customer service was the last thing on her mind. The entire establishment seemed chaotic and disorganized, giving the impression that they had no clue how to run their business. The staff's incompetence and lack of courtesy were astonishing. I felt disrespected and even discriminated against due to the manager's rude attitude. It was an uncomfortable and distressing experience. As if that wasn't bad enough, the condition of the ATVs was terrible. Half of them seemed to be broken, and they continuously broke down during our supposed 2-hour ride. This made the already short ride even more disappointing, wasting much of our time. Adding insult to injury, the helmets provided were absolutely disgusting. They reeked and appeared as though they had never been cleaned. It was unsanitary and unacceptable, putting our safety at risk. I cannot emphasize this enough: avoid BJ's ATV Rental at all costs. Their lack of professionalism, poor customer service, and low-quality equipment make it a place to steer clear of. There are undoubtedly better ATV rental locations in the area, and I regret not choosing one of them instead. I honestly was going to write a great review for this business, but what transpired really is unfortunate and not the way you do business. I recently rented a Can-Am maverick from BJ's and was excited to get out and have fun. We had a large group and got to the "shop" as the employees called it. There were 2 people working and a line out the door. We arrived at 1:30 when our time to ride was 2 PM. It took up until just after 2:45 to finish the waivers and provide a deposit. We get to the beach location and are shuttled to where the atvs are located - the guys there were super nice (no complaints about them at all). We were given a start time of 3:30 to 5:30 because that's how long it took for the whole process to be done and to be shuttled down the beach. The ATV had a maintenance notification, but the guy helping us out said it should be fine. The ride was great I brought the ATV back without damage and the yellow paper was signed off - no issues. Here's where it gets a bit messed up. The deposit was posted to my bank account, which was not what the woman at the shop told me would happen. Her exact words were "we charge you the deposit and when you return the ATV without damage we void the transaction." Unfortunately, that is not what happened. I called the BJs today and asked Sherry why my transaction wasn't voided out and to please do so. She said she can't do it and she can only take my name and phone number and pass it to the owners. I'm hoping that the business owner(s) read this and do something. I'd like to change this review to a positive one because the guys on the beach really were super cool and just that alone would've made it, but presently I'm leaving it as is and if the funds aren't returned I'll be proceeding with a chargeback to the businesses account through my bank. read more

BJ's ATV's employees are all very Rude people, including Manager or owners. They try to steal money from people unfairly, thats not enough These people at BJ's ATV's are RACIST. Let me tell you why. When we got the trailer, we took a lot of picture of ATV while we were getting setup, because we were so excited. I am so glad we took pictures, Because when we return the ATV, people at the trailer accused us that we broken ATV headlight. They say we will charge couple hundred dollar for damage fee. I started argued with them and told them my 11 years old son never hit anything with the ATV, he was with us all time. They just keep yelling & saying you guys broke and pay for it. Then I showed pictures of the ATV before we rent it. The picture clearly shows headlight was broken before they rent it to us. As soon as they see the pictures, they all shut up, I told them do not ever yell or accused customers, specially this is not the customer fault. This is trailer employee fault, they should've let customer know any damage on the ATV head of time. I was expecting apologies for them, because their fault didn't tell us, instead trailer people use F..word "F.. These people" get out here. in front of my 6 years and 11 years old son and my wife. I am proud of being who I am with my color and what I wear. I even went to office and told them this is not right they way you guys steal money from people unfairly, Office manager or owner didn't apologies either. We went for a family vacation and thought of trying BJ's ATV rentals, As we went there was not much rush and the front desk team did their best to finish the paper work and head on to the beach. After reaching the beach we got a ride by their VAN and it was fine, everything went well and we till that point of time. We all got the ATVs. We got 3 ATVs for kids and two of them were leaking the oil on the feet, and kids started complaining about the smell and so on, some how we managed it for 1.5 hours and went back to return the ATVs. Even before we mentioned about the oil leak at kids feet one of the guy came and said the air is less in of the ATVs, there is a lot of sand/dust on the other one, so this got damaged we need to hold your deposit.. and the repair person will estimate and will return the rest of it, when my friend said it is sand dunes.. what do you expect after driving for an hour.. the guy goes back and says oh.. no the handle is not rotating properly.. it got damaged.. so basically, they try too many things one after the other. So we thought leave it and left the place.. and they have charged more than 300$ in damages.. very pathetic and frankly never recommend this place to any others.. Okay, I guess it's best to have a reservation when going to rent an ATV on a Saturday at Pismo Beach. However, the good folks at BJ's ATV could have been at least a little helpful for me and my party as drop in customers. This Saturday 10/10/15 the fine fellows at the check-in trailer on the beach could only tell us that it would take 30 minutes to process our applications and it was no guarantee they had and available ATV to rent. They said we could drive back into the town 5 miles down the beach and it would take 10 minutes to process our application. They also said they didn't know whether or not they would have an ATV for us even if we did get an application approved. All the while they looked at us through squinted eyes like some kind of insect that has crawled out from under a rug. They did not try to help at all. They went about their important business and left us at the desk without any answers. I immediately left and went to the place next door and had a wonderful experience with the operator and rented there a TV product. They even gave me and my gang a discount for $20 per hour for ATV rental. There are still good people out there uf you look around. read more

Terrible customer service!! My family and I were first in line but when we thought we were going to get called, the employee called the customer behind us?! Instead they told us to watch a safety video which wasn't even visible, let alone playing! It didn't seem like they told any other customers to watch the video either. Whether it was because I had a family of 5 or they didn't want to provide service to us, the way they picked and chose who to serve was obnoxious! The fact that we also waited for over an hour just for the employee to tell us that they didn't have any vehicles for children. I understand that being understaffed could move things along slower, but at least telling a customer early on that there were no more vehicles of a certain kind would be very helpful. The employees neither picked up their phone nor showed us the price listing for the types of vehicles. Wouldn't ever come here again!!! read more

I'd like to start off by saying how impressed I was with their customer service. The line was long, even for online reservations, but when we got to the front of the line we were greeted with nothing but a welcoming greeting and smiles. My wife wasn't feeling well, so we brought up the idea if we could switch our reservation to the following day, and they accommodated our request with ease. The following day, we arrived for our re-scheduled morning ride and the process was smooth. Once paperwork was complete and we traveled to the meeting location, their shuttle driver was very friendly. Arriving to the ATV location on the beach, once again their customer service was exceptional. My wife was allowed to switch to a fully automatic with ease and we thoroughly enjoyed our overall experience. The dunes are awesome and BJ's ATV Rentals made it fantastic! Thank you! read more

TL DR racist, rude, us vs them mentality,scammers Seems like the boss has an answer for everything I recently came here to have a fun ride with some friends and my younger siblings. We rented out a few atv for us and they seemed okay at first. Visible damages but the employees suggested they were "normal" wear and tear. 10 min into our rides 4 out of our atvs stopped riding and made some concerning sounds. We walked back to the 2 young guys working by the trailer. Really shocked at they're response. The 2 guys were totally out of line and began screaming and accusing us of riding "too wild" and being reckless.. we were not making quick turns or any maneuvers that would cause any damage and harm. I literally LOVED this place. friends and i met up from socal and the bay here. just simply going off yelp and website reviews but so happy we did! theyre upfront with everything with prices time and how and where to park. We parked on the street and took there bus down to the beach. Wow! we were not expecting so much land. We just anticipated a small gated area. This land is amazing! getting stuck a few times was frustrating, but if u call they will come help and give your entire group more time! The guys were super helpful, nice and let us know about how everything works. They also took great group photos of us! were already planning a trip back to specifically use Bjs!! What a great experience. Rented 4 quads together: 3 Grizzlies (125) and a 250. It was a Spring Break weekend so we got there early to beat the crowd. The woman who took our reservation was nice and efficient. Zack gave us our orientation and was very helpful and friendly. This was important as we were all 1st timers and had my two kids. Equipment worked fine. We were out for two hours which was a good amount of time. We were able to get pretty deep into the dunes and were alone most of the time. We got checked back in quickly and on our way. Would highly recommend these guys! It is $5 to park on the beach but worth it to have your stuff close by. read more

Rented from BJs today for the first time. The process was easy reserving online and when we got there we were able to add a extra ATV. Got to the beach and the whole thing was fast and easy even after the 90 wasn't working they were quick to upgrade us. Unfortunately the 125 was to big for my child. So thinking fast mike told us about a rhino which was really our last option. But luckily they had so much fun with it and me on the 250. Mike was super patient and helpful threw the process. Same with Kuin with a Q. We most deffidently will be back thank you for a awsome time read more

What an incredible experience! Absolutely zero complaints. ALL of the staff were amazing, friendly, and very helpful. They are very much safety oriented and truly want renters to enjoy riding and the dunes. The ATV's ran flawlessly too! Last time I rented from a place that rents dunebuggies and was very disappointed. All of the fees that were tacked on were ridiculous!!! Very much a bait & switch operation - they try to get you to rent their underpowered and uncomfortable buggies! If anyone wants a completely positive experience, I highly recommend BJ's ATV!!! read more

The prices were okay, the experience was to die for, the service was average. The girl at the front desk was rude, she answered all our questions as if we should have already known. This was our first time going so we were all new to the experience but she was being very sarcastic with us.
