Looked up online for live shiners to purchase. This place came up a lot of times and had good reviews. I decided to try them out. The first time I went they were out of medium sized shiners, but after looking at them the smaller ones were good size. I went to the lake and they were great lots of action to them. I probably caught 6-7 bass with them. The next time I went I went early in the AM just when they opened at 6am they had medium sizes in and they did not disappoint in size. My only regret was catching little dinks with them on such a good size shiner. Good guys inside as well easy to talk to and ask question. This will be my go to going forward for live bait. I grew up coming to this bait shop and while it's crazy to see how much has developed around it, it's really great to know it's still here! There are some choice fishing spots around the Plantation/Sawgrass/Davie/Weston areas, and this shop is on the way to many of them. I was in town visiting my family and wanted to take my kids fishing, and nothing works better than some live shiners for whatever might be swimming in the lakes and canals of Plantation. I grabbed two kids combos at Walmart and a couple dozen shiners, and we SLAYED the peacocks with a few nearing the 3lb mark. I'm not sure who was having more fun, the kids or me as I helped them land these beasts on the lightest of tackle, including a silly push button Paw Patrol rod with only two eyelets! Like everything, bait has gotten expensive, about $20/dozen, but the smiles on the kids faces and these memories are worth every penny! I am so glad I had the time to make this happen for all of us, and that BJ's was still there to get us what we needed! So if you want to go, this is the spot to stop. Good tackle shop. If you grew up in the general area in the 90s and early 2000s this place reminds me of Kringles or Everglades bait and tackle back when they were around. Good guys running the place. Always a smile even before first light. Good quality service, good terminal tackle and lure selection, healthy live bait. Prices are right. One of the few bait shops out west that is not all the way in the Everglades. It's hidden behind a big Publix plaza right by 84. Service is always helpful and friendly. This is our go to stop for worms or shiners. They also have a selection of fishing supplies if needed. read more

My son begs me to go here daily. On the weekends I will give in and go buy him and his friends a couple dozen medium shiners. The guys that work there are super nice and helpful. They go out of their way to ensure you leave happy. Today my son't aerator wasn't working properly. The one guy took it apart until he figured out why it wasn't working properly...for free. He could have shrugged and sold us another one for $36... but he figured out what it was, and fixed it. It happened to be the new stone we had just purchased was defective, and obviously he grabbed us another one that worked. They have everything you need, and are quick. I've been going here for years. It's a great little shop, it's the only bait and tackle in the area were in live. They are all the way out west on State Road 84 and Flamingo Road right behind the Publix. They carry a nice variety of fishing gear, snacks, and live bates. This is the best bait & tackle store in west Broward, maybe because they are the ONLY bait & tackle store in west Broward. They have a decent selection of lures and worms alone with some tackle but they sell a lot of live bait including shiners and worms. My only wish is that some of the guys that worked there had a little friendlier. The owner is a nice guy and when he is there he is nice to talk to but some of the other guys need a refresher course on "customer service with a smile". read more

Very nice bait shop...located just off 84...quick exit of 595 to load up on shiners, worms and ice...and slide right back on the highway to the fishing grounds...service is typical of a local bait shop...good advice on where to fish...to make sure the kids have a good time...BJ's is the only bait shop that normally has live shiners of different sizes...fresh and lively to last your fishing trip...also worms for kiddos to play with and fish lol...overall it's a good bait shop...and I won't expect the best customer service...advice and knowledge makes up for that... read more

A few days ago a good friend and I went to bj's. It was my first time there but his 10 or eleventh. Very nice and clean. The owner is a great guy and very helpful with our bubbler problem. For which he fixed with spare parts for free. We will go back too them from now on , either together or on our own. Great business and beyond great customer service. read more
