It's very dive bar, loud, everyone is having fun and rowdy. The pizza was good, a little rubbery, not GREAT but good as far as bar food goes. The service was a little weird. BJ's Bar has been on my to-do list for a while. It's been in Florissant since 1955! Obviously I went for the pizza. We ordered a large pepperoni with 1/2 bacon. The woman who brought it to us said it's her mothers' recipe. The crust is nice and flaky and they use mozzarella cheese. I liked the crust a lot. It's a bit thicker than your basic St Louis style and a completely different texture. I realize the pizza looks black in the photos but I didn't think that it tasted burnt at all. I do prefer a well done pizza. I didn't care for the bacon they used. It was like bacon bits. This place gives new meaning to the term "dive bar." Anyone want to go back? read more

Wow - Went into pickup a pizza and could barely recognize the place. Seemed like many decades of grime and clutter had vanished. Been many years since we have been to BJ's but it's still the most amazing pizza in Florissant . Little else has changed with the dark and 1960 Time Capsule decor but the drinks are still highly effective as they always were . We went on busy Tuesday and things still progressed rather smoothly given a full house . My boyfriend grew up in the neighborhood and introduced me to BJs several years ago - I won't lie - the fact that he brought this amazing pie into my life MAY be the secret to our longevity as a couple! First, when you walk in, BJs is a DIVE and I mean that in the very best sense of the word. Old political posters line the ceiling, lots of handwritten drink signs, BJs t-shirts, KENO and the usual busy bar fare line the walls. The counter is lined with "regulars" but you don't feel like an outsider when you haven't yet reached that status. It's comfortable and there are lots of friends to be made. The night we were there a nice girl in the corner was singing along to all of her jukebox picks and she was having a great time. We went in and ordered our favorites - the garlic cheese bread and the pizza. It takes a little time to get your order but there are plenty of cold drinks to keep you company while you wait. The garlic cheese bread came out first and wow - they do NOT skimp on the garlic butter or the cheese - it's chewy and completely saturated with butter and cheese. I am certain as we ate, we both thought of ways to wrestle the last piece away from the other. My name was called shortly after we finished the bread and the main event was ready - the pizza! It is served on an old-school cafeteria tray. No non-sense is perfect here because it really is all about the pizza. I ordered pepperoni and my boyfriend added onions to his half. The sauce is bright and tangy - the crust is a flaky thin crust. The toppings are enough to really bring it together rather than just sitting one layer on another layer - but not so much that you can't taste the crust. It has been a very long time since I have been in BJ bar. And I remember that there was always people in the bar at anytime. But my visit I only seen one customer that order a pizza and left. I do remember that they had a good pizza back in the day. But I didn't order one today so to be fair I have to return and give them a chance. But the Bacon cheeseburger was pretty good with out adding anything to it. And I thought that garlic cheese bread was always good but the bread they use seems just be a big hot dog bun. But it was not eye appealing than everyone else does. So was not impressed. And finally the Chili was plain. Had no spice or heat. But the thing I did taste Was the strong beef flavor. For much of my childhood life, I thought this place was called "Stag", due to the beer sign that is displayed outside. It wasn't until later in life that I learned BJ's was actually the diviest of dive bars that served a decent pizza. Step inside and it's like time traveling to a simpler era. Mounted tube tv's on the wall, a lottery ticket machine, and a fridge where people can buy booze and ice to take out. In dive bar fashion, it's pretty dingy inside (and the place seems to have a certain smell to it, almost like you're in someone's basement). Once you order food or drinks though, you realize you're getting them incredibly cheap as a trade off. You can get a glass of beer for $1.25! Some of the staff are real nice and I've been here on nights where I've ordered a bucket and gotten an extra beer, which is awesome. Unfortunately, during my most recent visit, I went to use this bell they have sitting at a counter for ordering food, and it wasn't working, so I hit it a few times. One of the bartenders across the room started raging at me for hitting the bell too much. It's like, whoa, calm down dude, it's just a bell. Other than that experience, I generally enjoy the place for its character, and recommend checking it out if you're in the area. I had'nt been to BJ's since I was a teen with my parents while on one of visits to St. Louis. We immediately had to order the famous pizza. NO disappointments here! We order 2 pizza's -3 topping large and a 1 topping "small" (More like a medium size)......$19!!! They were very good size pizza's and the toppings were plentiful and flavorful. The place definitely has character and characters. At 2:30 on a Friday afternoon, we were surrounded by regulars drinking from mixed drinks in Mason Jars. Too cool. We opted for Micholob Ultra Bottled beer. A definite blue collar tavern that welcomed us truly over dressed out of towners. Grew up in Florissant and thought I would take my 21 yr old son to BJ's. Boy they didn't disappoint. Guys in the kitchen were the bomb. Kicked out a awesome sausage, bacon and onion pizza that was just like I remembered. Bartender was great they had 2 for one cans. The best thing about the day besides spending the day with my son. Refused to accept a coupon because we ordered the food wrong. How one orders a pepperoni pizza incorrectly still escapes me. A coupon for a pizza is pretty simple. It honestly seemed like the guy was on some strange power trip, so needless to say it was time to find a new regular pizza place.
