Only came in for a short visit so it is only fair that I leave a short and honest review. The fried mushrooms were super good. The breading/coating was a little thick but the flavour was there. The pizza roll ups were nice. Quite an interesting idea. Easy finger food! The Caesar salad, which was my main, was a nice dressing. The greens were nice and fresh. And lastly the wings - I forgot which flavour we got but the wings themselves were cooked perfectly, ordered crispy and they came out as such. The service was really good, the employees were all very personable and pleasant. We will definitely be back, especially when we can spend a little more time to sit back and enjoy. read more

My second time at 1356 Public House and I was yet again surprised by what they offer. The surprise was the size and portions of their kid menu items. The spaghetti was cooked perfect with a large meatball buried underneath all that sauce. It gave my son plenty to eat and plenty for leftovers tomorrow to eat as well. Our waiter was kind enough to give his water into a small cup with lid to prevent spillage. 1356 Public House appears like a sports restaurant but they provide services to all ages both young and old. I definitely will be returning hoping for another surprise. read more

1356 Public House was new to me. I chose the Pizza Roll Ups Appetizer (Homemade with pepperoni, hamburger, sausage, and Provel. Fried to golden brown) and a Caesar Salad. The Caesar was pretty standard but good and the Pizza Roll Ups were great! They put the filling in an egg roll wrapper and the exterior was perfectly crisp. If I'm making one complaint it's that I didn't enjoy the chunky marinara dipping sauce. Otherwise I'd order these again and again. My dinner date had a burger. The service was speedy and friendly. I walked in before lunchtime, and there was a sign directing folks to wait to be seated for the dining room, or seat ourselves in the bar. It was Nice and inviting, so I just sat at the bar. I was almost immediately greeted by the bartender, who had been setting up something nearby. I asked if there was a nice amber on tap? She said they do have their own red beer, so that's what I got. As I was looking over the menu, she pointed out the happy hour menu nearby. It runs from 11-7?!?!?! That's great, because I always miss happy hour specials, because they're pretty much when my kids are getting home from school and doing homework. I really came here for the buffalo chicken wrap, though. There's quite a few places locally that have them, but the tots always looked so good in the other reviews. 1st visit was great! Sunday is Happy Hour all day. Great drink specials, and 1/2 price appetizers all day in the bar only. So I went with 2 friends of mine for a Sunday lunch. I lucked out getting a table(it was about 1p.m.). It is 1st come 1st seating in the bar. I happened to walk in as a couple was standing up to leave. Like a vulture, I circled around the bar, and snagged the table before it was cleaned. We decided to get a few appetizers, and split everything, so we could try a few items. We went with the 1356 Ultimate Nachos, Twin Oaks Shrimp(grilled), and a Quesadilla (steak). We all agreed, the shrimp was too salty for our tastes. The Nachos were awesome, and HUGE! Popped in for a quick dinner on a Sunday evening. It was busy, but there was seating at the bar so we headed there! To our surprise there is a "happy hour" on Sundays with drink and appetizer specials. We ordered the mushroom appetizer and this was huge! The mushrooms were really delicious. There was also a steak skewer item on the special appetizers so we ordered that along with a cauliflower crust pizza. There were two steak skewers and the flavor was spot on. Then for the pizza, it was superb! The crust was "crusty" as it should be (sometime hard to achieve with the cauliflower). Also enjoyed $4 large draft domestic beers! The dining area is large and they can accommodate large or small group. We sat in the bar area where there is the bar top as well as some tall tables with booth like seats and tall chairs. Another great experience! We arrived around 6:30 on an unseasonably warm Saturday evening and were given a 30-minute wait estimate. We grabbed one of the outdoor tables since it was so pleasant outside. Within about 20 minutes we were called inside. Our waitress introduced herself and let us know she was new. Well, she's doing a great job! We ordered drinks (try the Brick River cider) and by the time they were served we were ready to place our dinner orders. Two of us had the blackened chicken sandwich, my broth-in-law had the cowboy burger and I chose the turkey club with sweet potato fries. If we are looking for a local spot to dine in or takeout, this is our go-to place. My fav dishes are the wings, Zucchini Sticks, Combo Platter, Taco Salad, and Buffalo Chicken Salad. My boys like their Stl style pizza and hubby likes their burgers. Their seasoned and regular fries are the best. I'm not a fan of their Philly Cheesesteak, but their fish sandwich is good. Came one time, and their wings weren't the best tasting, but maybe they were having an off night (reason for the 4 stars). Beef tenderloin sliders here are heaven!!!!! Let's begin drinks are delicious I always get a spiked lemonade. But all of their cocktails have been good! I raved about this place so much that when my family visited via train, we drove here just to have lunch. And to our surprise Sundays are all day happy hour (insert heart eye emojis). 1356 has become one of my favorite places over the last year. So much so that I've really taken a liking to their seasoned fries and wings. I've had the chance to eat there and do carry out and service for both was great. I went with carry out today so I could eat at home and watch what I wanted to watch (soccer). For today, I got the seasoned fries, skillet cookie, sweet and spicy boneless wings and I decided to try their homemade chips for the first time. While I've never had an issue with them making the food how I requested, today slightly missed the mark. One of the reasons I was so excited to get the fries was because of the seasoning. Oh, and the their portion sizes are plentiful! Before pulling off, I decided to check my order to ensure everything was in the bag and was to my liking. I was incredibly disappointed when I got to the fries and noticed not only were they not crispy but gasp, there was no seasoning! I was shocked! They've never forgotten to season the fries. Ever! Since everything else was correct with the order, I decided I could season them and throw them in the air fryer when I got home, which is what I did. The wings are where it's at. I've had a few of the other flavors but this is easily one of my favorites. For someone that's not keen on spicy things, this has just enough kick to where it makes my taste buds tingle but is sweet enough to where I wouldn't need to immediately grab a water. Also, I think I'm finally understanding why the ranch/bleu cheese is necessary. All of the flavors combined are like an explosion in your mouth- but a good one! One that makes you want to savor every single bite! Last but not least is the skillet cookie! I feel like this is becoming a thing of the past or restaurants are stepping up their dessert game. Regardless, I'm always happy to see a gem like this on the menu. Even though I didn't eat it until much later today, once I heated it up, it tasted as if I had just received it. The ice cream reminded me of the home made ice cream my late grandmother used to make. Again, both paired really well together. I had a few bites of the chips and they weren't bad. I think I'll save them as a snack for this week. All in all, I'm not going to let one un seasoning mishap stop me from getting my wing and seasoned fry fix. Love the nachos it's got so many flavors. I really like the fries and the burger and my bf really likes the taco. The staff are very friendly but it is a bit of a wait for the food so bring your friend and family so you can chat while you wait! I think they have good drinks as well but I didn't order anything. I was so happy to be invited to my friend's birthday party at 1356, since it's one of their favorite places and I can see why. Everything was great! This was my first time visiting this establishment. It was about 6:15 pm on a Monday night. Our party of 5 had an estimated 40 minute wait time for a table. However, we found an open table in the bar area and sat right down. Not sure if that was the best idea, because it took about 1/2 hour for a waitress to take our order. I am vegan. So, I was happy to find options for me in the menu. I went with the veggie wrap with no cheese and homemade chips. The wrap came out hot and it was tasty with plenty of cooked veggies, rice and black beans. However, the homemade chips were less than desirable. They were overcooked and I didn't care for the powdery (ranch?) seasoning. Not my thing. I am willing to give this place another try on another day. I even though it's close to home I hadn't tried this establishment. After checking out Yelp reviews it sounded like a place I would like. After finally trying it I deeply regret not going there sooner. First, the beer selection is broad and eclectic. Second, the menu offers a variety or bar food staples such as burgers, wings and pizza as well as entrees. My first visit was in the afternoon. I decided to try Stuffed Spicy Burger and house made chips. This burger is huge at 10ounces it's more than a mouthful. The breaded fried jalapeño slices on the toothpick is a nice touch. The chips were crisp but could use a little more salt. I enjoyed two new beers and the server Shelby was not only attentive but knowledgeable about the beers. It was so good I brought the wife here for dinner. We tried a dozen wings so we could try two sauces. The Classic 1356 Three Alarm was quite good but We're chili heads so not quite spicy enough. The Stinging Honey Garlic was just as the name says a little heat, sweet and garlic. Messy but good. We also tried the Deluxe Pizza. My boyfriend and I wanted to try somewhere new for our weekly date night. We had explored the idea of going to a few places in our neighborhood but I ultimately decided on 1356 because they had the most diverse menu. We were both so impressed. We had several beers and cocktails throughout the night. I wish I'd been brave enough to go up and take pictures of the wall behind the bar because they had like 20 different beers on tap. Usually I don't even drink beer but I felt compelled to try a few different ones. We started off with the pizza roll ups and we're pleasantly surprised. We'd both seen pictures of this dish on yelp prior and didn't think we were going to try it. Once we read the description on the menu, we knew we had to get it and it was delicious! It reminded my boyfriend of his favorite pizza restaurant. For entrees, he did a build your own burger and completely loaded it with all of the cheese options available, including a cheese patty on his burger (I think that's what it's called). I had the pesto shrimp penne pasta. The garlic bread was phenomenal. Simple, but delightful. I think the pesto was really overpowering and I'm someone who really likes pesto, but the shrimps were perfect. I also wish the tomatoes had been cut up smaller, but that's not a big deal. The sandwich has 6oz of beef tenderloin medallions with sautéed onions, horseradish mayo, lettuce and tomato on cheese garlic bread. The medallions were mostly tender and tasty. The horseradish mayo didn't have the kick I was hoping for. I chose the seasoned fries and they were incredible. They have a sweet taste. You must try them. The burger was DELICIOUS! Took half of it home for another meal. My only complaints were that the service was VERY slow and it's a pretty loud place, which isn't my favorite. Prices are very reasonable and I highly recommend the fish sandwich, the deep fried mushrooms are the best in st louis metro area. I have never had a bad meal or bad service in this establishment.
