Casual, friendly neighborhood bar! My brother and I stopped in here for a quick bite to eat before a show at the Arkadin down the street. We seated ourselves in the bar area. It was not very busy and nobody was sitting in the back patio area. Our food was ready pretty quickly. It was an early dinner in the middle of a shift change, so it took a little longer than usual to get our check (I think our first server forgot). But we were able to go right up to the bar and settle the bill without any problem. It was quiet when we were there, but the extensive shot menu, big seating area, and games suggest they might have a busier party atmosphere on the weekends. The food was good for the price, exceeding expectations. The smash burger was pretty big- a single was enough for me! This place is bigggg it don't look so from the outside but it is. Fridays are my favorite nights to go, because they have karaoke and my favorite singing bartender Kat!!!!! Kat makes the best drinks hands down and she is quick with it. She always checks on her guests even while doing a little karaoke and that girl can singggggg!!!!! Exceptional service for an early Wednesday evening. Our waitress was so nice and helpful. The wings were the absolute best garlic pepper crisp skin juicy tender and well seasoned. Blue cheese dip was on point. And the DeluxePizza was really good. Good cheese pull flavorful toppings, and thin crispy crust. Nice crowd of regulars at the bar not too noisy. Ample screens for the sports enthusiast and a scattering of bar games. Darts, billiards, skeet ball, corn hole etc. A neighborhood pub feel kind of like Cheers street parking. Before we ate here I read the other reviews and I shit you not, when we walked in the bar tender was indeed talking tattoos with the regulars and we had to wait for her to finish her conversation before she rudely addressed us, then switched to fake nice ( I preferred her honest rude self to the fairness. Peppers is conveniently located in my neighborhood and serves typical bar food--sometimes decent, sometimes less so, depending on who's in the kitchen. I don't mind their burgers, fries, or salads, but occasionally things can be oversalted. One issue they should address is with the soda dispenser; twice, my soda had a hint of rum, which isn't great for those avoiding alcohol. Peppers bar has been on my favorites list for years. This is such a wonderful bar that basically has two parts. The front part they do karaoke on Friday nights which usually gets pretty busy and it is so much fun! The back bar is dog friendly which is fantastic, they even have a Dog menu :-). The back patio is covered and it also has an inside Bar connected to it. So there are lots of options for places to sit and with two bars you'll definitely make sure you get a drink :-) they have an extensive shopping you located on their wall so if you're up for a challenge I start working on it early cuz it's going to take you months to go through all this! Be careful when paying your bill. I showed up for the first time ever on a Saturday afternoon and I was charged for an extra drink by our waitress/bartender Jessica. I only had 2 drinks. I didn't say anything at the time because I didn't want to make trouble. I am saying something now because I just checked my bank account and I was charged $2 extra that I didn't tip. I keep receipts for this exact reason. Now I'm not worried about $2 but stealing is stealing. If I can help someone else AVOID this place on future visits then it is worth the $2!! read more

Just go there. Amazing atmosphere and the food was awesome. We had the toasted ravioli, fries, and the sweet &spicy wings. The staff is so friendly and accommodating!! We just drove 6 hours and we were starving and stopped here. We saw that the kitchen was closed and turned to leave when one of their employees ran after us and asked what we needed. One of my favorite type of places to eat are your basic bar and grill type places. I love bar food! I gotta say that Pepper's is exactly my kind of place. It can be a little loud and it's a touch cramped and that's the only reason it's not 5 stars for me. We had pretzel bites and they were awesome. Just the way I like them. I would be amiss if I did not write a review for my regular haunt Pepper's Bar & Grill. From the moment you walk in this place any day of the week you can tell they must be doing something right. You always see the loyal regulars along with other happy faces enjoying the atmosphere. The bartenders know their clients and greet them by name and the others with a smile. The bartenders seem to truly enjoy their jobs, and they aren't going anywhere...you always know who is behind the bar. It is a bar with great food! Nightly drink specials that are unbeatable. And the food!!! I can say I have never had a bad meal. The food is consistant, the home made chips are ALWAYS perfect. The Philly Cheese Steak and The Hammer are my favorite sandwiches. The pizza rocks, the burgers are ah-mazing. They have two bars, typically the back bar is a younger crowd and the front bar older...Different music plays in each location. Lots of TV's to watch the games...PLUS...they play the sound so that you can hear the game!!! They just added on a covered outdoor patio complete with games, tables, and TV's for the smokers...Peppers has it all. Paula is the manager, she truly cares about her customers and does everything she can to make sure everyone feels welcome. If you have an issue, it upsets her too and she will do what she can to make it better...and she usually does. They are frequently involved in special events...such as pub crawls and chili cook off's. Just a great bar! I've been coming to Pepper's for the past 30 + years but won't ever go back based on waitress (and owner's daughter), Jessica. I would fire my kid if she treated my customers like this! Her Manners were definitely awful! We sat down on the patio and the table had dishes and cups on it. Jessica came over to remove the dirty plates and cups and didn't greet us. She acted like we were a bother. She didn't say Hello, what can I get you, etc. We had brought a bucket of beer from the other side. All she was worried about was if we paid for that beer. We ordered food and when our friend was ordering a steak sandwich, he couldn't hear what she was saying and you could visibly see that she was losing her patience and raised her voice and yelled at him. Once our food came we had no napkins or silverware. I had to go to the bar to request because Jessica never came back to our table. While eating we had to go to the bar to get our own drinks because she was nowhere to be found! Once my husband found her and requested utensils and ranch dressing again, she came over to the table and threw the utensils down. When he asked about the ranch again she took 3 deep breaths and said 'you're going to have to wait a minute" and he said we've been waiting for a half hour and we're almost finished with our food. She started screaming at him and he returned the favor. Then she announced she is the owners daughter and the bouncer came over and kicked us out. I have a message for the owner. I know you've lost us as customers for 30years +. You may want to have Jessica do a back office job where she doesn't have to deal with people. First time in my life I have not left a tip but honest to God, we should have been comped this meal as rotten As this little snot was to us. With that being said the shuttle driver Craig and shuttle waitress were wonderful! Also since I'm never going back to give Pepper's my business I will miss waitress, Tina who is wonderful! My friend and I went here for lunch, I was surprised at how many people were there. We both got sandwiches and fries. I had a mushroom & swiss burger, I LOVED IT! Unfortunately I was let down when visiting Pepper's Bar and Grill. We were told to seat ourselves and we were greeted almost instantly. We liked the bar and grill environment. It was a cool space. It took the waitress about ten minutes to get our drinks to us. We ordered an appetizer and did not see her again until the appetizer was already finished by us. She took our order, didn't write it down, and of course got it wrong. It was delivered by a food runner without napkins or silverware. We ended up just eating what was brought out because we were never greeted again. When we finally got ahold of our server she was halfway apologetic. I was a little let down. read more

Fantastic Service: We have been here a few times and the food and service are fantastic. If you like the outside when enjoying friends and food this place has a large outdoor area. Pepper's was recently acquired by the Gianino's family restaurants (Joey B's, Frankie G's, Klipper's, etc.) and has expanded their menu and restaurant to two full bars with an expanded outdoor dining area. It is a bar that serves food, not the other way around, has dartboards in the rear and karaoke, but I have not been yet. It's definitely a hang out for locals. We were never at a loss for beer, though we did start with plastic cups and have to wait to get glass mugs. She also made an awesome shot that my boyfriend loved just on flavor suggestion. I could tell she had a lot of regulars, and I might consider being one. The pepper bites were delicious. The bf had a spicy chicken sandwich that he ate all of and really liked their ranch with it. I had the cowboy burger. It was huge! I liked it, but next time I will opt for different cheese; I liked the soft cheddar, just not the texture with a burger. So many places advertise "super" spicy food and fail to deliver. This is not the case at Pepper's. I ordered their crispy chicken sandwich with bleu cheese and the extra hot sauce as a to-go order. When I got home I saw they had forgotten the bleu cheese but everything else looked good so I dug in. I could only finish half the sandwich it was so spicy. My husband was stunned, as spicy food is my all time favorite and I rarely find something I can't handle. He took one bite and went to grab the milk. If you love spicy food I suggest Pepper's. Try the extra hot sauce and see "if you can handle it". I laughed when I read that line on the menu, but boy did they actually provide a challenge! I went by here for lunch with a co-worker. It was just typical South City Bar food. Everything was covered and smothered with provel cheese (a true STL quirk) Not to mention, it was the middle of the day and the place was LOUD. I don't want to be too tough on the place though. If you are a city dweller you have your favorite haunt where people know your name and you overlook it's short comings. It was quite clear to me that Peppers is that place of rmany that were in there. I just prefer other places. Being a drinker I am almost positive I would have enjoyed the place more come happy hour. Our waitress Kristen was wonderful! This was the first place that actually moved people in order to honor our reservation, which really impressed me. Every other place our large group has gone, we've been made to wait, even with reservations. Pepper's staff jumped in together to make our visit great. The food was yummy and the service awesome.
