It was Sunday at 9pm, I was pleasantly surprised that they stayed open till 10pm on a Sunday, and I kind of expected the staff to be annoyed at me coming in so close to closing / especially on a Sunday.... I can not express enough that The staff were absolutely fantastic, welcoming, charismatic, kind and joyful. The food was even more amazing. We ordered the classic Alberta burger and... honestly... I think it was one of the best burgers I've ever had in my life... HONEST. To make it even better- the chef was also super kind, friendly and he clearly loves to cook, feed people and in general is stoked on his job! I haven't experienced an atmosphere and customer services like this in quite a long time, It was a total joy to dine here and witness people enjoying their job and being happy- PLUS with great food. This was on Dec.30th 2024 and I think the boss/owners should give their staff a big shout out for being awesome. The soup was wonderful and thick. I can assure you that this soup didn't come from a can. It was cabbage soup with a few perogies thrown in for good measure. The sandwich was partially my own creation because you choose all the ingredients of it from the bread type to the condiments (I had horse radish, mustard and sauerkraut). There's password protected WiFi to help catch up on the latest stuff on your phone. Inside is tastefully decorated with murals and other things to keep you busy. The washrooms are downstairs so that might be an issue for anyone who is mobility challenged. This is a place where I definitely will return to if I pass through Sundre again. Why 5 stars? Because we got exactly what we needed…read more --- --- --- We landed in Calgary with a plan to hop in the rental car and head straight to Banff. But our hunger got the best of us, so we ended up stopping in town for lunch across the street from Element Cafe. Our next mission was to get caffeine and a little something sweet to finish off lunch. Element Cafe achieved both of these goals. I ordered an Americano and it did the trick. But I really enjoyed the Birthday Cake cookie. The cookies caught my eye because they looked a lot like the mountains we were about to see in Banff: they had many ridges and depth to them. The guy working in here even offered to heat them up for us before I could ask, so he really understood the keys to our heart. My only piece of feedback would be: when you heat the cookies up, don't be shy! Push that dough to the limit and let your cookies be enjoyed the way God intended: like they just came out of the oven. With that being said, the guy was the picture of a nice Canadian. Don't let his slightly under heating on this day shape how you view him as a fellow human. He was great, as were his cookies and his coffees.
