The absolute worse experience in my 30 years of wearing eyeglasses!! They massacred my lovely frames from France and wouldn't even offer to fix them!! Then offered me a free pair of their ugly frames. I will never come here again and warn others to stay away from place!!! Yikes!! read more

I've only been wearing glasses for the past handful of year and I've never taken to them. I've been to several Opticians to have glasses made and they seemed to have always given me uncomfortable and unnatural vision experiences, despite being progressive lenses. I had trouble with the narrow band width for distance, medium range was just incomprehensible and nose and chin would get in the way of the tiny field of view for reading (that's how low on the lens that field of focus was). So, not having a lot of confidence that I was ever going to take to any type of glasses, necessity brought me to buying another two pairs of glasses because 1. I'd hoped that maybe they could be made better and 2. I had broken my main pair that I used on occasion just to drive. While browsing the frame styles, I was approached by the Licensed Optician on BJ's Optical on 184 West 237th Street, n the Bronx. This Optician introduced herself as Jennifer and then proceeded to ask me a few questions. She asked all the right questions and quickly extracted all the right information and concerns I had about my former glasses...some concerns I wasn't even aware of coming in to shop. Jennifer took the time out to understand my frustration with former glasses, asked about the use and utility of my glasses and even recommended specific lens shapes to help with my focal grievances of past glasses. Also dispelling my false belief that a larger lens would be better for me. Not only did she take the time out to understand my unique circumstance and vision, she completely understood that there is not just a one size fits all approach to my glasses. She customized the focal points in both progressive glasses that were each unique to how I intended to use them. One pair being more the everyday out and about and the other for strict utility. I watched her work on the order before sending it to the lab. Jennifer was meticulous and thoughtful, neat and organized. I even received a follow up call to ensure that the color of transitions were going to be to my liking whilst also explaining the pro's and con's of each color for viewing conditions . After the order was complete, I had a new found excitement and faith in my new glasses. Then comes the time to pick up. I met with Jennifer again, and she sat me down to check the fit and vision of the glasses. I was so surprised when I put on the first pair. It was like night and day. All around (far, mid and near) my vision felt natural, in focus and comfortable. She was right about the lens shape she suggested. Then comes the second pair that she painstakingly adjusted to my needs for a larger lens. Result: The same! Perfect vision throughout my entire field of view. No more bobbing and weaving, lifting glasses to read something near or putting them on the end of my nose to be able to view the narrow band of distance that all my previous glasses had yielded. What can I say....the service and quality of the glasses were quality of life changing. Thank you Jennifer C. and BJ's for the great set of glasses. This place has the worst customer service ever. The phone lines are non existent and I purely blame BJS THE COMPANY. Every Bjs that is located in the Bronx has terrible customer service, specifically for handling customer issues or speaking to department heads. For instance, I purchased glasses from BJs over a year ago. Included in that purchase was a warranty of protection over the glasses in case anything were to happen to them yadda yadda. That day once we finally had a chance to actually sit down with the Dr, we were assured that if we needed anything it'll be taken care of. Fast forward we can't even get through to the department when trying to call. At one point I was on hold for 5 minutes. The next time I called it drops. I visited the exterior street location and asked if they could fix my glasses for me and was told there was nothing they could do to my glasses- which had a crooked plastic piece on the metal- besides tighten the glasses. It did absolutely nothing. I asked if she needed to see my insurance, or needed anything further information she said no it's alright? Don't you need proof of who I am? BASICALLY, what I'm trying to say is that the Optometry department has a consistent trait of unprofessionalism and disorganization. I'll just stop being cheap and stick to my original eye doctor with my insurance. At least i know I'll be helped the way I should and deserve to be. read more

This was one if the worse experiences I've had purchasing glasses. The glasses I tried on were the glasses I were sold. I had no idea i would be sold the shelf pair that had been tried on by "Lord only knows" how many ppl! This alone made me livid when I return for pick up because of course no other store had them in stock. The manager is nice but NOT helpful. Offered to to give me a cleaning spray but not a discount. Offered me a refund but would not honor my previous discount. The 3nd pair I purchased were a plastic pair and need adjusting. The manager heated the plastic to adjust them which actually made them crooked and the lens was popping out of them. I will NOT be returning and I would advise anyone looking for good customer service; when purchasing glasses; to steer clear! read more

Where? This doesn't exist. In fact the store doesn't exist, which wouldn't be a problem except they were selling memberships (which expire in one year) at a street fair 3/4 of a year ago. read more
