I found this practice using my map on phone to check out what's nearby for eye doctors (was also checking it out bc of a friends recommendation that has the same issue as I do & since I was already on maps I clicked on). I don't generally find my physicians in this way LOL, but the fact that a friend recommended and it's SUPER close to where I live, I decided to check it out while I was on my map app. Also saw in their info a yelp review that said they have 4 stars, so I thought, not bad. It was only ONE review lol. I'm new to the area, but am a native New Yorker born & raised, just never lived this far uptown before, and all of my Drs. are downtown, and east, so something close and within walking distance would be GREAT! I called the practice off the yelp posting, and just my phone experience was awful! I called and was put on hold immediately, now I can understand being busy, so I held on. It went on forever though, but I held. At the ridiculous point when I was going to hang up, someone picked up the phone only to tell me to hold on again! There was no courtesy thanking me for holding so long (I don't need to be thanked or praised for holding, but there is such a thing as courtesy and professionalism. Acknowledging that I was on hold for a long time, and ASKING if I would mind being placed on hold one more time, and WAITING for a response as to whether I could or couldn't would've been the PROFESSIONAL, right thing to do!). They need to treat the people calling their office as if their time is just as important as theirs, and be respectful of that. The only way I will change low rating, and will not tell ANYBODY/EVERYBODY I speak to (I make a lot of patient referrals and know a lot of people since I opened and am the general manager of a medical practice!) is for your frontdesk to demonstrate more respect regarding proper phone etiquette, and respect for other people's time. I will be calling back to give it another shot, everyone deserves a second chance, and hope for a positive, more professional experience in trying to figure out whether this practice will be one I'd like to be part of, that could help me, and my medical issues regarding my eyes. What I experienced on the phone with your practice, is something NOT allowed to happen at my frontdesk. They ASK if they can place call on hold, and actually WAIT for a response from the caller as to whether it's ok or not. You never know how pressed for time someone is, or if the call is a medical emergency! Everyone's time should be treated with equal respect because like I said, you never know what's going on. I hope to have a more position experience when I call back read more
